Thanks Baubles my DIL worked for them. It was she who told me it was a franchise.
I do miss her family discount! 🙁

Good Morning Friday 9th February 2024
(44 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and its raining here in brackley this morning .
I hopefully will do my usual routine , but for lunch will do Fish & Chips in the air fryer .
Mind you going out wise places are quiet , the cafe I use and the supermarket seem to be low in numbers and the streets seem quite both in brackley and bicester .
Mind you with the days getting lighter ,and signs of spring about with daffs starting to show as well .
Health wise , I will stop taking the Leopardine capsules as i seem to be normal in that area , and weight wise its putting it on gradually .
Take Care,
Mick
Marydoll the prices in Specsavers don’t vary, the price is set throughout all stores. It’s a joint venture rather than a franchise.
Mizuna your GS will be thrilled to have such a space to let his imagination run free.
Good morning from Glasgow. We are back to wet and windy weather yet again. No sign of the predicted snow this morning.
Good news re your health Mick
Such an unsettling time for you and your DM Susan. I sincerely hope a solution is found to give you peace of mind.
Bon voyage Bonny
An at home day doing this and that, thankful I don’t have to venture out in this miserable weather.
Best wishes to all with worried minds healthwise or other.
Much love.
Good if rather late morning. I have been dealing with a food delivery first thing. Very jolly delivery man who marvelled at DH’s great age and told him how his name would be pronounced in the country he had come from. Quiet day just a visit to check in with GS5 and briefly see DD2.
Ash Hope you feel better soon.
Happy holidayBonnybanko
Glad you are feeling better Mick
Best wishes to all
Good Morning from a very bright and sunny but not so warm Guernsey.
I hope today brings something lovely for everyone.
Good morning Mick and All from wet West Cheshire.
Paperwork today and perhaps a little dust spreading with my newly acquired feather duster.
Wishing you all the best day you can manage.

Good morning Mick and all. I'm glad everything is improving for you Mick, and it will soon be time for one of your trips away, won't it? Roll on Spring!
Here on the east coast we seem to have been quite lucky with the weather this winter, with the worst of the bad passing us by. But today we have strong winds and rain, so a day for hunkering down and staying indoors.
Happy holiday Bonnybanko - enjoy the sun!
That must have been a difficult - and worrying - conversation last night Susan and upsetting for both of you. Have an easy day today if you can.
Ash sorry to hear you have an upset tummy. I've had a couple of bouts of those recently and they're so debilitating aren't they. I hope yours clears up quickly.
I actually like your 'boring' photo Mizuna! I can imagine your grandson will love his time spent down there 'making stuff'. What an artistic and creative family you are.
Enjoy your Chinese New Year's Eve Baubles. Our tai chi groups are getting together on Sunday evening for a Chinese Banquet at our local Chinese restaurant to celebrate. It's usually a good evening, so I'm looking forward to it - and the food!
I have no plans for today other than to stay cosy out of the wind and rain and just relax. Lots of things to do of course - but tomorrow is another day 😉
Best wishes for a good day for those not feeling so good and for those with a heavy burden of worry x🦋💐
Good morning Mick and everybody from a rather rainy Carlisle.
I had to pop out early yesterday morning hoping to avoid the forecast snow as we had a yellow warning for it. It never happened, just a little drizzle now and then. However, later on the Tesco delivery man told me the hills were covered. It looks like much the same today and it's cold so I'm staying in. I'll do one or two little cleaning jobs then move on to more interesting things including carrying on with my latest book, tales of shipwrecks off the Australian coast.
I hope it's an improving day for you Ashcombe, not the best way to spend a night!
And wishing you a lovely time Bonnybanko, a beautiful island to visit.
Good morning from Durham. Wild and wet, but at least yesterday’s snow was a bit of a damp squib. Had an hour with the DGSs last night - guaranteed to lift any gloom, although both DDs are still unwell in their own ways.
Coffee this morning with my oldest friend - we meet weekly.
Sorry to hear there’s more than a few poorlies today - I hope things improve and for those jetting off, enjoy.
Best wishes to all. X
Morning from a very wet and windy Co Durham.
Wishing better health to those suffering today.
Happy holiday, Binnybanko.
I was wrapping dgd and myself up to brave the walk to school but when I opened the door, her best friend’s mum pulled up in her car to take dgd to school. So very kind of her to think of us. I’ll have to go on the exercise bike 😂.
This talk of glasses reminds me I must make an appointment to have my eyes tested. Another one here looking at a small fortune.
Have as good a day as you can lovely people.
Good morning from a damp, but not raining yet, Oxfordshire. MrOops is taking MzOops to the station, sandwiches are made for her as it’s an early start. Of course she brought a car load of stuff for us to store until her house sale goes through, the place is now rammed with ‘stuff’ in boxes baskets and crates, will sort it later and put in other places rather than the dining room!
Stomach upset today so I’m not going far, let’s hope MrOops is home before the dog needs her walk.
I’ll come back and read your posts later.
Meanwhile have a good day everyone.
Greyish and dampish morning, very dreary and dismal but at least no local flooding. Oldies’ coffee morning the highlight and then some admin looks inevitable. Sorry several posters are unwell and I hope things improve as the day goes on. We do need spring!
Good morning from a brightish Suffolk after a miserable, grey very wet day yesterday.
Sorry to read about several feeling unwell this morning or those having unsettled nights and thinking of those awaiting test results for themselves or loved ones.
It was good to see the physiotherapist yesterday because I hadn’t been doing the exercises correctly from the online details! So now I know I hope the muscles I need to strengthen will respond.
I was tempted to go home and miss my stretch class when I had the option of 2 possible roads to take but ploughed on to the class, was just on time and was glad I made myself go.
Off to the hairdresser’s this morning which is always a good chance to catch up with local news and then meeting DH for coffee and cake….a good start to the weekend.
Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 2°C.
Safe travels, Bonnybanko.
Karma, that is interesting about the tailor made glasses.
I too have a complicated prescription and cataracts into the bargain.
My glasses also have a wider field vision, as advised by DI, an optometrist. I require transition lenses, as bright light hurts my eyes.
Specsavers is a franchise, I wonder if prices vary around the country.
Soon we will need a mortgage to buy glasses!
Susan, I can empathise with your situation. My mother used to do exactly the same as well as continually phoning my school looking for me. 💐
Have a good day folks, another quiet one for me, apart from DD and DIL popping in on their way to the Borders to the Dark Sky park.
I'm still having stomach issues, more than a week after my shingles vax.
Love as always, to my fellow mountaineers.
Good morning all. A wet & dismal day here in Sefton with rain forecast all day. Sleet here yesterday & a tiny flurry of snow. My granddaughters were very disappointed. I wasn't.
A couple of zoom exercise classes this morning & that's it for the day. I have books to read, stitching to stitch, weeds to admire, the spring bulbs are struggling through, & the dreaded housework.
Thoughts with those of you feeling under par & coping with life's worries & struggles. Good to hear your health is improving Mick.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining.
Off to meet a friend for coffee this morning then the usual crafting and reading.
Susan sorry to hear about your mum. Could it be a UTI that has unsettled her? My dad would occasionally have aliens at the door, that was usually the cause!
Have a good day.
Good morning from another dull and grey Black Country, where it rained all day yesterday!
Gym this morning, then I have someone coming to see me about my pension, which being 70 I think I need to start drawing on it.
MrJ is going to Birmingham this afternoon to see his old colleagues, then an after work drink with them.
Wishing all of you who feel unwell a much better day today.
Morning from a damp S Hants.
Happy holiday * Bonnybanko* 🌞
Sounds debilitating Ashcombe take it easy today.
As her dementia increased my mum did the same Susan no concept of time.
Just taken a duck out of the freezer Baubles for tomorrow with pancakes as we enter the year of the dragon.
We’re having the kitchen window replaced as I type, an early start, later we’ll pick up MrJ’s car, it’s had a new heater fitted, Tesco delivery this afternoon and pub tonight.
A busy, expensive day.

Good morning everyone from another very wet day in Northampton. Rained all of yesterday and was relieved that I didn't have to go out.
Spent all morning researching washing machines and suppliers; decided to stick with the same brand, and whether the old one would be disconnected and taken away, and new one installed. One company (initials JL) lost a sale because although they would take away the old one, they would not disconnect it from power and water - I even rang them up to check. Eventually found a supplier that would do everything, so placed my order with them. I ordered on line, and a couple of hours later a nice gentleman phoned me to thank me for my order and to confirm delivery (also tried to sell me breakdown insurance!). So roll on next Tuesday!
Tap and ballet classes this morning, then home to lunch and another afternoon with the Cazalet Chronicles.
A Keema curry to make for dinner tonight.
Hope people.feeling poorly today soon feel better - and that those off on holiday have a wonderful time.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cold at about 0º, we’ve still got snow on the ground and a bit more forecast later
So difficult for you Susan, hope you get some rest later
Hoping the results are ok Gingster, thinking of you and your DD
Today I’m going back to the gym, I’m not really looking forward to it and could easily cancel but I’m hoping to feel more like it when I get there. Later this afternoon I’m looking forward to having a catch up with my pal, lots of news to share so we’ll be there for a while
Have a great holiday bonnybanko and safe travels
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Morning all from a damp and dark West Oxfordshire.
I’ve been downstairs already at the crack of dawn to send an engage consult message. I want to know if I’m still on the list to have an annual mammogram . I was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer in 2017. I was part of a trial where I had no chemotherapy or radiotherapy (I took a daily anastrozole tablet for five years) but it was suggested I had an annual mammogram for at least five years. My last one was March 2023. Back in bed now with the cats Milo and Ripley keeping me company.
OH has a shooting day so I’ll take the opportunity to do some baking and also replenish the ice cream store! Probably lemon ice cream and clotted cream ice cream. Elder son and his family are coming tomorrow for a couple of days and my granddaughter loves my homemade ice cream.
I’m sorry to hear that some of you have difficulties. I hope today will be better.
Harrigran, that should say mends itself! A special shout out for Susan. How difficult for you. 💐
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and pouring rain. The rain is from the east which usually signifies bad weather. Ash I'm sorry you are unwell. I hope you have a restful day. Bonnybanko have a lovely holiday. Harrigran I hope your back ends itself quickly and your shoulder too RosesandLilac.
Yesterday I was at art class. I am struggling with motivation to create anything at all. I don't draw or paint enough though, throughout the week. For some reason I was very tired in the afternoon and fell asleep.
Today I have no plans. I think I'll have a baking day. Bread and cinnamon buns. I'm still clearing out food from the fridge and freezer so that's where dinner will come from. Possibly paella or bolognaise. Have a good day all
Morning all 👋 from a grey damp S E Essex
The gym first thing, coffee and catch up
with friends after. DD is coming round this afternoon and we will make the sweetie cones and goody bags for the 8 yr old GS who is 9 on Sunday (pizza and football party) I am picking the cake up tomorrow (he doesn’t know) hope he likes it
Safe travels bonnybanko enjoy your holiday.
Hope you feel better Ashcombe and all others who had a bad night.
