Good Morning Wednesday 14th February 2024

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It’s due to rain on and off all day, but is milder.
Yesterday was a joy, having my two DGDs here for a few hours. They were chatty and very helpful. I have bought three sets of storage drawers from IKEA. They pulled out my considerable stash of fabrics and sorted them into colours (saving the ones they wanted to take home) and labelled each one “pink”, light blue”, “grey”, etc.
Their mum came to collect them in the late afternoon after having one of the remaining pancakes.
I hurriedly made some more pancakes as I had invited a few of the residents to have some, knowing that most wouldn’t have bothered to make any. Several came, and we enjoyed a chat over pancakes and a hot drink.
Today is Ash Wednesday, so I’m off to church to be ashed this evening.
I also have a residents’ coffee morning for which I have made some brownies, and the book group in the afternoon, our read was “Lorna Doone”. It is very long and detailed, I haven’t managed to read much of it. I suspect it is great if you like that sort of thing.

Good morning Mick from Wrexham where I’m awake without my usual chamberpot ☕️ because we’re playing away from home (in ⚽️ terms…😂) having had a superb meal last night and some champagne 🥂 as an early Valentine celebration!

Mr PG is snoring 😴 alongside and I don’t want to wake him by switching the kettle on so will read up on GN posts I missed yesterday 😇

We’ll enjoy breakfast later and make our leisurely way home via a shopping outlet (he doesn’t know that yet 😉) and have our delayed pancakes for tea - which he will prep (doesn’t know that either….!)

Hoping for good news on my dad’s health later today and hope for the same on here for all with loved ones under a similar cloud 🤞

Despite the wet weather yesterday I had a wonderful day, starting with a delicious breakfast locally with my DS and family followed by visiting The Little Theatre, to show them round. My DGS3 attends a Drama Group so was fascinated to see backstage. He is seven but - warning: proud grandma moment! - has a wide vocabulary and engaged confidently with the adults we encountered.

DH, olddudders, arrived here safely last night and we had a lovely evening together. Later today we shall be back at the theatre for Wednesday Club and we have a meal booked for tonight.

Good morning from a very wet south Glos hillside, I’m going to get very wet going to the dentist if the forecast is right 🙄, I need a filling. Afterwards I will pop into the greengrocers for fruit and vegetables and go and pay the invoice for the boiler service yesterday. The sweep has postponed his visit, something urgent cropped up apparently.
Apart from that I don’t havre any plans for today, so more drawing when I get back.
I made a liver and onion casserole for lunch yesterday and there’s enough for today.

Good morning from a rainy Cornwall where I debunked to my back room at 5am when the Domino's lorry was clanking in the street. Very unusual for them to arrive so early.

Met my youngest son at MacDonald's last night for a catch up. His 14-year-old has hit a reclusive teen phase and his dad needs reassurance that it won't last. We chatted about the major road works on our county's spine road which have been pretty disruptive so we're going for a jaunt to explore the new over and underpasses and reshaped landscape at some point.

Today British Heart Foundation are collecting loads of books from my downstairs hallway; they're the only charity shop that collect here. At 9am my granddaughter arrives for the day, yippee.

Re twisted hazel: in the winter it takes pride of place on my patio because of the shape but in the summer I move it to the back because to me the twisted leaves make it look like it's poorly!

Good morning, dull weather again in s somerset.

Yesterday was a good day, not spectacular just nice and calm and positive. More of the same today plus an added hill march later, to keep my body moving

One zip pocket done on my new coat, It was tricky but looks good and one more of the same today. I need to be making this coat in hops, it requires a lot of concentration. It is purple warm softshell with black zips

I did some spinning yesterday, after a long break, another slow mo mindful hobby. I am in no rush, I need to slow my wool crafting down

Good morning from a dark W Kent. Early appointment at the Drs for a cholesterol blood test. Once home DF is coming for coffee and then DD2 later in the day. Unusually full day for me at present.

good morning from another wet day for the South Downs. I wonder if I will ever be out of wellingtons!

Yesterday I bought some colourful primroses as well as my most favourite - the common primrose- to replace the autumn /winter planting and bring spring to my pots near to the house, and I shall plant them up today regardless of the weather. We were delighted to hear a chaffinch up high in the garden centres glass roof serenading the visitors. They always seem to chose high places from which to warble.

Although winter still has its grip, spring is gently and quietly making itself known. The woodland floor on our morning walk, is now almost entirely green with plants that bloom before the trees cast their shade of new foliage. So there are bluebell leaves, cow parsley and at the edges violets already in bloom, primroses, and snowdrops.
Last year I watched a pair of crows build their nest and raise their young until the new leaves hid them from view, and I am pleased to say that they are back inspecting their old nest to see if it is up to scratch.

The squirrels have found their new feeding station, and pop in to choose their favourites - mostly nuts, but they also have seeds and dried fruit to choose. I also put out food for the birds including dried meal worms which the starlings fight over, but I was delighted to see a tiny mouse helping himself to them during a quiet time.

I guess it won’t be long before my fox pair have more mouths to feed - I must up the calories for the vixen.

We are having pancakes today as I have piled on the pounds since my gall bladder operation in the autumn - I feel so well now!! - to have started a two days a week intermittent fasting diet - hopefully it works - yesterday was day 2.

Well folks, enjoy your day - even in the rain - I shall continue with my knitting I think.

Good morning from dark South Lanarkshire. I don’t think it’s actually raining at the moment but I’m sure it won’t be long until it starts.

My Granspal and I had a lovely chatty couple of hours together yesterday.

When I got home I spent easily an hour watching the birds in the garden busily toing and froing. So many of them, in sharp contrast to the day when I did my hour for the Great Garden Birdwatch when the weather was so foul the birds were being blown away before they could touchdown.

My pancakes in the evening were a great success, pity there were just the two of us to polish them off as DH reckoned they were the best I’ve ever made. Probably a fluke but I did buy a proper crepe pan last year.

Yoga this morning then coffee with the group, there are only four of us in the class.

Good morning from Shropshire.Light rain at the moment.

We had a lovely day with the family yesterday celebrating B’s sixth birthday.The cousins were happy to see each other.We enjoyed our few days in Acton Trussell and looking forward to staying again soon.

Today will be a day of laundry, admin and hopefully a quiet afternoon.We have a busy few weeks ahead with something on most days.I usually plan rest days in between the busyness but hasn’t worked out that way so will relax whenever I get an opportunity.

Good morning from a grey, damp Colchester. Already 12° and rising to 15 today. I'll have to dig out my lighter weight mac for the walk to our coffee meetup.
My wardrobe cull means I will have to browse the clothes shops for spring items....such a hardship I have ordered some new trainers and am looking forward to putting my worn out boots in the recycling bag.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp, grey South Yorkshire. GS came yesterday and we had a nice day. We made a new strong webbing base for my IKEA chair which is now fit for purpose again. As his hands are stronger than mine, he had charge of the staple gun. In the evening we cooked a roast chicken dinner and made pancakes. I’m taking him out to lunch today and then he’s going home.
I saw a wren in the garden yesterday - I hope it’s nesting in the Ivy on the top fence!

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet, gloomy corner of Somerset.

Finished the cards yesterday, three large boxes are now one small box. Much more manageable. A hopeful call from our goddaughter about her Mum came early evening which cheered me.

A funeral to attend at lunch time today, one of our neighbours who died a month ago. Her family are far flung and have needed time to come together. I’ll distract myself this morning by reducing the remains of my professional life. It feels time to be letting go.

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Good morning all from a rainy Glasgow, where it is only 1°C.

Poor DH is shattered, I kept him up for much of the night with my coughing, my COPD has reared its ugly head again. Yet he never complains.

We are off to Mass, as it's Ash Wednesday. Nothing else planned for the rest of today.
Spaghetti Vongole for dinner, (my favourite) as Ash Wednesday is a non meat day. I was going to make salmon fishcakes, but couldn't face the faff! 😁

Good morning from Durham. It’s dismal, grey and wet again.
I’m taking my car key to my garage later, then leaving the car there overnight, as it’s booked in for an MOT tomorrow. DD2 will help me later, as she’ll be dropping off Little Dog for his regular sleepover.
I’ll pop to nearby Arnison Centre for a bit of shopping and a coffee, but must be back by 3pm for the gas engineer’s visit.

Good morning all and it’s damp and dreary. Lovely to have daffs and tulips in the house to brighten us up.

Little DGD stayed last night as Dd is very poorly again. She’s been diagnosed now with Fibromyalgia, and has a lot of joint pain. What next, we wonder! Anyone suffer from this? Any tips?

Will take DGD to school and then go to DD’s to see what’s needed!

Good morning from a dark and grey Black Country, where it rained all day yesterday!

A lovely GN meet up yesterday in Birmingham, there were 5 of us, and was great to see a couple I had met before probably 6 years or more ago! Two hours sped by.

Need to go to Mums today, as her Dosset box needs topping up with her tablets. Probably take her food shopping too.
