What was your favourite comic as a child?

Bunty and then Jackie for a little while.
Seem to remember posters of David Cassidy/Donny Osmond, though my preference was for David Bowie.

Me too but I remember the Jack and Jill too which dad bought me as a small child when he collected his Sunday papers.

Then Jackie.. & Fab 208.

Eagle, and when I went to boarding prep. school it was the only one allowed, anyway. But then the son of the creator of Captain Condor on page one of Lion entered the school, so that had to be allowed as well.

No comics at next boarding school, but it was good to see Eagle again in the college junior common room at university.

Does anyone remember Walter Hottle Bottle from the Jack and Jill comic? Walter was a magic hot water bottle that came to life in a little boy's dreams at night, and took him on adventures.

My mum used to read this story and many others to my brother and I in the mid-1960s. I remember I always loved stories about Walter Hottle Bottle ❤️.

Oh yes Jack and Jill. My first comic. I remember Walter Hottle Bottle too as well as Harold Hare! Liked the puzzle page as well. Then I progressed to Bunty, Diana and finally Jackie.

Here is the very first issue of Judy which I remember well because of the plastic flower bracelet. According to the article below it was 6th January 1960.

Sandra of the Secret Ballet was in Judy. One of my favourite characters, I was obsessed with points and kept drawing legs and feet with ballet shoes on.

Check out the stories in these magazines. The people who wrote them had such imaginations! Lots of adventures, no wonder we loved them.

I started with Robin ( Andy Pandy, The Flower Pot Men) . Then I moved on to Girl, but can't remember any of the characters. I think they were all too worthy for my taste. My brother took Eagle so I followed Dan Dare and his adventures, which were also on Radio Luxembourg.

Beano and Dandy were more fun - Desperate Dan, Beryl the Peril, The Bash Street Kids ... never to be forgotten.

Ah, I do remember Harold Hare but didnt realize it was in Jack and Jill.

Twinkle was my favourite, then Pink when I was almost a teen.

Swift was my favourite, although I can't remember much about it now. Then I was thought to be old enough for Girl, but didn't like that as much. I wasn't allowed to get Bunty or Judy for some reason, but I did read some belonging to my friends and quite liked them.

'Sunny Stories'

I had School Friend which was delivered by the newsagent. I desperately wanted to change to Girl - it seemed much more colourful, but was told by my father that I would not and certainly would not be allowed to inconvenience him (the NA) by changing my mind continually! One comic was considered more than enough, I wasn’t supposed to buy others with my pocket money, I used to enjoy visiting a friend who had no less than three all at the same time, one of which was Film Fun.

I remember a lot of the comics mentioned here, especially Jackie, Judy, Bunty, Beano. I also remember Andy Pandy, with affection - Beryl the Peril 🤣

School Friend and Girl. I still have a Girl, Christmas album .

Beano and Dandy and as my dad owned a newsagent shop I used to sit under the counter and read them.

I loved Bunty each week and then very excited at Christmas for the annual.

The Beano, the Dandy and the Eagle. Definitely no girlie stuff!

First comic I had was "chick's own" probably around 1950. The words were split up to make reading easier. There was also a similar one which I think was called 'Rainbow' and my grandad would sometimes buy a copy for me.
Later School Friend and my sister had Bunty and we also used to get the annuals as Christmas presents. Later, when a teenager - it was Romeo

This brings back the memories! I do remember Jack and Jill - and Walter Hottle Bottle. I did get Bunty and Judy too, I think, although not always every week.

I remember Walter Hottle Bottle, I also had one called Playhour I think, then a bit later Diana, then of course, the one and only Jackie.
There was one with a story of an Indian Brave who had to pass a set of challenges, but I think he had been poisoned, so his sister secretly did them, I loved that.
