Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley this morning, at the moment .
I had a unusual greeting when I went into bakery cafe with a member of staff , she addressed me as "my Lovely " but I do not associate this with Oxfordshire as the saying seems more west/south west type greeting .
Usual bus trip for a few hours , although the weather has seen fewer people out with cold wind chill and rain , the tree blossoms are also happening I noticed a mixed up climate .
I come home watch cycling on TV from a sunny middle east .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from an overcast NE.
DS and GD came early yesterday and we did the shopping before having lunch out. GD drove, she is a good driver and her mum's mini is roomier than I thought, we got all my shopping in the boot.
A quiet day for me, I have too many aches and pains to be too active.

Good morning from a wet South Downs. Yesterdays weather was ghastly and today is forecast not much better but less windy.

Meeting friends for lunch in Ditchling - a wealdon village under the downs just like many in Sussex. Vera Lynn made her home there. Most of those villages are very pretty, with charming village centres, but Ditchling is spoilt by a busy road I think.

Have a good day all.

Peace and harmony to the world and parliament!

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another grey start.
Charity meeting this morning, visiting my friend with the broken leg later and off to the theatre this evening.
Yesterday I met up with a friend I haven’t seen for at least 20 years. It’s strange but lovely how you can pick up where you left off. Our lives went in very different directions as I worked and she stayed home and busyness took over so we saw each other occasionally then less and less.
Happy anniversary Baubles
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone from a damp and soggy Severnside. The water is running down my road like a river.

I have to go out this morning but am very glad I did my weekly shop earlier in the week. More things to do after lunch including looking over my house insurance. It hasn’t gone up much so I think I’ll stay another year.

Anniversary wishes to you Mr&Mrsbaubles. I hope you enjoy your meal out 🥂

Have the best day you can all ☔️☔️

Good morning from a very dull and grey Black Country, where it is belting it down.

Doubt I will go on my Thursday walk this morning.

I hope it is drier by this afternoon, as we are off to Birmingham to check in to a hotel, ready for the Ballet tonight. Part of MrJ's birthday present from myself.

Happy anniversary to Mr&MrsBaubles flowers

Welcome DubaiLondon

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning from a wet and windy Oxfordshire. I have someone coming to collect a mass of books that MrOops doesn’t want, they are due any minute, as is the dog, so I will come back and read the posts later.

Morning from a wet S Hants, you need to charge a call-out fee gMattie 🙂.
Happy Anniversary baubles 🥂
I send you patience for today Susan
Thank you for your good wishes, the leg will take time, sadly patience is not a strength of mine.
Thoughts with the poorlies.

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 3°C.

Sending healing vibes to Blossoming, hope you are beginning to feel some improvement.

Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Baubles, have a lovely day.

Mizuna, I hope you are feeling better as the day goes on.

Susan, I hope you have a positive appointment and can get things moving.

brook, 🤞 your eye isn't too troublesome.

It was probably a blessing Dollie was with us, it forced me to rest too! She wasn't happy when I tested her on her times table and questioned her on division, her current maths topic. I am a cruel gran. ☹
Her teacher, who is an ex colleague, won't be in the least bit surprised.
She had spells of being hyperactive, then conking out! I was so relieved, (and exhausted) when papa arrived back from the dentist complete with cakes!
He is going to need a crown and an impacted tooth removed. Ouch!!

Yesterday, I was excitedly awaiting a parcel, a velvet coat I had treated myself to for a forthcoming event. Unfortunately, my excitement turned to disappointment, when I discovered a huge security tag, still attached to it. 🤬 I was not amused at all.
Fortunately DH eventually managed to remove it.
A phone call was made to customer services, especially as it had been thrown in the box, with a just single sheet of crumpled tissue paper. Not the way to get repeat business.

I have been summoned to the surgery for a check up this morning. It's usually a tick box exercise, lots of sighing, but nothing ever happens to resolve issues.
The surgery is only ten minutes away from Babydoll's home, so we will have lunch with them. I will probably need a lie down in a darkened room afterwards. She is at that stage, where you cannot take your eyes off her for even a nano second. DIL likes to take the opportunity to get things done in peace when we are there.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Visit from hairdresser and possibly a trip to the village while I can - our road was flooded and undrivable most of yesterday and the threat is for more of the same later today. We are just a bit higher and our drive is playing host to a couple of cars from further down the Close. All very worrying and happening far more frequently than in the past - climate change in action, presumably.

Some very busy days reported yesterday so hope today allows for recuperation. I shall be deep in William Hague’s biography of William Wilberforce, a serious read which I find I can only cope with in two hour bursts these days.

Good morning from Durham. My coming week will be dictated by Little Dog, who is staying with me. Must return a kettle, laundry to do and walk dog.

4 years ago today, DD2 and I were in Dubai - then home to lockdown. What a lot has happened in my life since.
Hope our missing GNs are ok.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all.
I’m off to bowls club and back to scoop up Dh for lunch with my brothers and SIL. I hope Dh will be up to it.
He has a docs appointment this afternoon and I will go with him otherwise he won’t mention all that’s amiss with him. 😤.

Get well soon Mizuna. 🌷
Hope you feel ok Brook after your eye op. 🌷

Good morning Mick, my lovely. Enjoy the cycling from sunny climes.
Good morning all and a warm welcome to DubaiLondon from cloudy but dry West Cheshire.
Very happy 49th wedding anniversary Baubles.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling rough Mizuna, take it easy, get better soon. Same to you Jax, sounds like a nasty fall and a longer recovery than first thought.
Stick to your guns Susan, no point in decluttering just to clutter up again.
Enjoy the ballet NannyJan, my favourite thing to do.
Thoughts to Baggs, Kalu and Urms, Gransnet friends always uppermost in our mind at the toughest of times.
Wishing you all a good day 🦩🦩🦩

EkwaNimitee Thu 22-Feb-24 09:00:35

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey Carlisle where showers are likely.
Regular light showers all through yesterday kept me inside not out in the garden, which is just as well as an old back problem is plaguing me. I think the reason why is my mattress, a good quality one, but nothing lasts for ever especially these days. I shall reluctantly cough up for a new one.
Today, one or two light jobs, a Tesco delivery then more interesting things, there's plenty of them but what I'd really like is to get outside....walking, gardening, whatever, that's what lifts my spirits.

Where are you Bonnybanko? hope you are OK.

Happy anniversary Mr&MrsBaubles

And speedy recoveries to Mizuna and Jaxjacky and any of you feeling poorly.

Kalu Thu 22-Feb-24 09:01:03

Good morning from Glasgow. So far so good with sunshine breaking through grey clouds, dry and calm. 🤞

The decision yesterday to deep clean DH’s bedroom as I prefer to do it myself, bearing in mind I go at a slower pace now, it took me most of the day but worth it and a fresh room was appreciated by DH….I slept well last night.

Happy Anniversary to you both Baubles. Enjoy your special day💐
Happy Birthday to your DGD Bellasnana,I can’t believe she is 13 already. I remember when she was a toddler and you visiting her.
Look after yourself Mizuna. I hope your symptoms ease a bit as the day goes on and wish you a speedy recovery.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing Grey. Something I am discovering a bit too often!
Hoping Dollie is feeling better today Marydoll

Have the best day possible all and for those who are ill or coping with troubled times, I hope your day improves.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, torrential rain here, coming down like stair rods, so no going out today; I had been planning a trip to the bank to update an account, but it will have to wait, I still have a week to get it done.

Sainsbury's delivery this morning, so I will have some stuff to go in the new freezer. A home-made Bolognese tonight from the little kitchen freezer.

More reading this afternoon; finished my Laurie Lee book for the next book club yesterday, and have now started the fifth and last book of the Cazalet Chronicles.

Here in Northampton, just up the road from Mick in Brackley, the normal greeting is "me duck", which I quite like; but with so many incomers in the town and county you don't hear it very often the days.

Happy anniversary to the Baubles, hope you have a lovely day.

Scapa1 Thu 22-Feb-24 10:14:28

Happy anniversary Baubles hope you both have an enjoyable day.

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 22-Feb-24 10:47:49

Welcome Dubailondon.
Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Baubles
Hope those under par feel better soon.

Good morning from a very wet East Midlands. I have turned into a dormouse during my recuperation period from the hysterectomy. Naps on an afternoon. Bed by 10pm and not getting up until 9am! 4.5 weeks since the operation. Love and hugs to all. X

Ziplok Thu 22-Feb-24 14:00:19

Good afternoon,
Such a dismal day today again, and also much colder. At least it brightened up yesterday afternoon, but I don’t expect it to today.
Had a very productive day yesterday clearing out excess books. My SiL is going to take them to the library she volunteers at as they’ve been asking for donations of books in good condition. I didn’t realise just how many there were, and I’ve still got plenty left on all the shelves, but at least they are no longer 2 deep as before. My problem is, I find it difficult to part with books, but it was really becoming a problem and needed sorting.

I hope you don’t come down with a chill grandMattie having being caught in all that rain. You will certainly have been in need of that cuppa when you finally got home.
