Doesn’t work that way CoolCoco. Shareholders don’t direct companies. Directors do that. If you have a private or occupational pension it will hold shares in many companies that you might not like - but you’re happy to take the money I guess?

Compensating the shareholders? They should have no compensation for the appalling performance of the companies. Owning shares is a risk and if you invest in a company that is verging on the criminal in breaking regulations and paying out fines then that’s tough.

If it had still been in govt control, I suspect the boss would have been at the same dinner with the same five large water companies. That is part of what bosses do.
