Can I recommend a website Fantastic Fiction. It has all the books of an author in the right order and recommends similar books. Also links to buy from Amazon etc

Blood Rites by Rachel Lynch. Her cop is DI Kelly Porter. Unputdownable! Based in Cumbria which is where I am!

The Wild Fens Series, written by Jack Cartwright, starring DI Freya Bloom, set in rural Lincolnshire.

(Though to be honest, I don’t find them that great, but they are very popular in my library, always a big waiting list. I find the heroine quite unlikeable actually).

I love the Washington Poe series as well BlueSappire I think there is a new one coming out at the end of the year.

Michael Connelly writes Harry Bosch in LA and also The Lincoln Lawyer.

Very well written crime stories that never disappoint.

Also Karin Slaughter. Some times a bit too graphic with descriptions of violence but excellent fiction novels. Set in Atlanta Georgia, USA

Pauline Rowson's " Andy Horton" series set in the Portsmouth area, they all keeps you guessing.
Others have given you a good selection and I have dipped into several of those suggestions in the past, love a Crime book.

Mark Billingham has started a new series now, featuring a detective called Declan Miller, set in and around Blackpool. The first book is The Last Dance, a good thriller with humour attached.

I would add Kate Ellis; she has 2 main series featuring detectives. A recent discovery and I really like them.
Simon Brett and his 'Decluttering' series (only 3 so far) but great, and the Fethering series has been mentioned already.
Martin Edwards and his Lake District series.
Love all of Elly Griffiths' books too.

Stuart Pawson - the Charlie Priest series, set in Yorkshire and D S Butler's Karen Hart series set in Lincolnshire.

I’m listening again to Susan Hill’s Simon Serellier series which is complex and hard hitting. Absolutely wonderful and love the narration of you are an Audible listener: also love Denzil Meyrick and he makes me laugh out loud along with the crime.

I really like the Shetland Sailing Mystery series by Marsali Taylor - mostly set in Shetland although one book was set on a 100 year old, 3 masted, tall ship that sailed Norway - Shetland-Belfast. Best to read in order.

Michael Dibdin - the Aurelio Zen series. Sadly the author is now dead so no more books in that series. There was a tv series starring Rufus Sewell which for some reason the Beeb decided to cancel because there were enough male detectives on tv.

Andrea Camilleri - Montalbano. I enjoy these books partly because of the references to the meals that his lady "that does" leaves for him.

John Grisham - law as well as crime

Nicci French - Freda Klein series - psychologist who also investigates murders.

Have you tried Kate Ellis? Crime mixed with archaeology - definitely a plus, and for fans of Elly Griffiths!

I love Peter James, books set in Brighton and Stephen Booth who sets his v books in Derbyshire.

Two books by a newcomer,Susan Allott. The House in Peckham Rye and The Silence. Both wonderful. If you don't beieve me look at them on Amazon for the reviews.
I taught Eng. Lit and I tell you this lady is a fabulous storyteller.

Alex Gray books are great set in Glasgow the DCI Lorimer series. Once you start reading them they are difficult to put down especially if you know Glasgow.

Also love Mari Hannah books.
