Good morning from a wet Torbay, which at least means the wind has eased.

Coffee morning at church then out for lunch with a friend from there. Neither of us is likely to see family this weekend so we are celebrating “Mothering Saturday” together!

I hope the weekend brings some happiness to all, whatever your circumstances. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning, gloomy wet and cold day in s somerset

I can see me knitting dungarees for mouche bear today, hope there is something good and mindless on tv, so I can concentrate on my knitting, or I could watch some of my dvds.

I have one shelf to clear and de-clutter later and perhaps make a big lasagne to portion and freeze for ready meals. I think this one will be veggie. That plus scones will warm the kitchen nicely

Basically though, I will just take the day as it comes

Have a good day

Morning Mick, morning All from a disappointingly damp corner of Somerset.

Todays task is to put the shower door back in one piece. What seemed like an easy job yesterday ( Mr C said five minutes!) turned into anything but. Wish us luck. The wretched thing is heavy and awkward.

I had hoped to do some garden pottering, looks like the weather will keep me indoors. I’ll find something to faff with - once that door is sorted. Could do with some muscle really, none available so we’ll manage.

Same for me with family ash, enjoy your lunch. There will be a a Chinese meal tomorrow, looking forward to that.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Barely light . I didn't sleep well so will try to get through the busy morning and have a snooze later. I'm on café duty at our open house.

My new volunteer Helpers arrived last night from Canada and I have a list of jobs for them in the next fortnight. They seem very nice young people.

DS and DDiL have invited me to lunch tomorrow which will be lovely.

I hope everyone has a good weekend whatever you get up to.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Another dreary start to the South Yorkshire day. As usual all forecasts say different things. The only thing they agree on is that it’s cold! I have nothing planned for today except to sweep the drive now the skip has gone, and do some batch cooking for the freezer. I might treat myself to some fish and chips for tea.
Have the best day you can folks!

I’m late, I’m late…..
Good morning from Bristol. It looks like it might have drizzled in the night, but feels mild.
I took half an otc antihistamine as I haven’t had a proper night for weeks, and managed a really good night last night!
The interview with the PhD student went well. She wanted to know how much I had changed my habits since she gave me various things, like a timer for the shower, etc. I told her I was “perfect” (😂) and had always done the right things so, no, I hadn’t changed my energy/water use and tried to be as kind to the environment as I could. She will send everyone a short resume of her results. Her thesis will be done by summer 2025.
Church coffee this morning. Unlike you, Ash, this is the first time in my life that my children are treating me for Mothering Sunday. (Philip, when very little, called it “Mothercare” 🫂). I’m spending the day with the family tomorrow and SiL is cooking lunch.
DS called briefly yesterday afternoon and told me all about his meeting with other UWC heads in Thailand. He was allowed to go a week early for a few other meetings. He was so happy, despite the work, he loves Thailand.
Have a great weekend, everyone. Carpe diem.

Bellasnana Sat 09-Mar-24 06:53:38

Good morning from a sunny Malta where the high is expected to be similar to yesterday’s at 20°C.

I got up at 3am to watch tennis and am now with the boys who have had their daddy up in the night but are doing fine.

I feel so guilty for having moaned yesterday (thanks for all the support though).

I’ve given my head a wobble and realised I’m lucky that DD3 trusts me with her precious boys and I ought not to have told tales. Bless her, she works hard and absolutely everything is organised so there’s the minimum for me to do. She’s also been having a very stressful time at work lately so probably really needs the break.

Hoping for a good day for all today. ☀️

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is shining already.
Not a good night as DH has been coughing, a lot.
Shopping this morning, rugby this afternoon and a dinner and dog racing at the Yacht club this evening. A busy day ahead.
Have a good day everyone xx

glammagran Sat 09-Mar-24 06:59:46

Good morning all.

Today I’m going to Rick Stein’s in Marlborough with my 2 DD’s for Mother’s Day. My DS can’t make it as he has swimming competitions for DGS1 and DGD2 to attend this weekend. It will be nice to have some all girl time with them though. Will be back home in time for the England rugby match.

We had a tree surgeon in yesterday to reduce the height of the tree in the front garden and to reduce the size of an out of control hedge in our back garden. Looks a lot better now. I was worried the great tit which has been singing (?) its heart out in the tree since the end of January would not return but I can hear him there now.

I hope you survive today with the twins Bellasnana - such hard work. I say 1+1=3 when I’m looking after 2 children as that’s what it feels like.

Have a good day all. Thoughts with those who are unwell or with problems.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Off to the hairdressers for the first time since October. It’s quite a walk from the car park so I just haven’t been able to do it with all the foot problems. I hope she can sort me out.
Otherwise just a bit of domestic stuff to get on with and curry tonight
All the best

Pittcity Sat 09-Mar-24 07:06:10

Good morning from sunny Colchester. 12° high today. I just hope the bitter wind has dropped.
We've nothing in the diary for the weekend and never go in for celebrating Mother's Day in a big way, so will occupy ourselves with this and that.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk and an exceptionally early start for me.

The coach taking DH to Crufts left from his pick up point( which is 15 mins drive from us) at 5.55am. I had agreed to drive him there which was fine but, being afraid of oversleeping, neither of us slept at all well. DDinL is joining him from the Ipswich pick up. No idea what time he’ll need picking up at the end of his trip. It’s going to be a long day I think.

We have invited DS and family for lunch tomorrow as we thought that DDinL should have a proper weekend off. She works full time and looks after the 3 DGC so beautifully( and DS too!) with little if any time off for herself.

Dog is bemused by this unusual start to the day so think I’ll get her back into her routine and take her for her walk,about2+ hours earlier than usual.

Sending best wishes for an easy day for all.

Gingster Sat 09-Mar-24 07:16:48

Good morning all and we’re back in Essex where is chilly but calm out there. So different from yesterday with the strong freezing cold wind.
We had a good journey home and ‘flew’ over the bridge 🫣.

Dd came early to pick up little dg from school. She was very down and tearful and needed support from her mum and dad.
Well we’re here now ! ❤️.

Today will be busy with ds2 and DIL arriving for a friends wedding. DS1 and wife will pick them up and off they will go in their finery. Dd will come over after dropping DGD at dancing.

This evening I’ll pick up fish and chips to take to sit in with two gds for a few hours. I hope it won’t be too late.
DS2 and DIL will stay the night with us and take us out for breakfast before they head back to Herts.

Like you, Sar a busy day .

GM I love the term Mother care. How sweet. 😍.

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day, whatever life has in store. 🌷

Mizuna Sat 09-Mar-24 07:21:17

Good morning from Cornwall where it's damp but lovely and fresh. Started cutting back a buddleia from a tall ladder yesterday and can't quite reach the main branch so will be good and leave that for my son tomorrow. As I sat with a coffee a robin bathed itself in a dish of water on the patio table just a foot away from my elbow.

Late night request from eldest son to have my granddaughter today. We've missed each other because of my hospital sojourn. Have found a recipe for carrot cake muffins which she may like to make. That or painting or slime or whatever...

My avocado dyeing was a hoot. The cotton shirt went from a dull cream colour to a ghastly brown. In the book it said it would turn out purple. I have lots to learn... 😂

brook2704 Sat 09-Mar-24 07:36:17

Good morning, everyone from Inverness where is a bit grey and cloudy but at least it’s dry
It was good to get back to the gym yesterday after a bit of a break and to catch up with all my gym pals. I’m not sure what I’m up to today will see how the day goes.
Gingster 💐 for you and your DD
Thinking of everyone with worries and troubles hope today is gentle and take care or whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 09-Mar-24 07:36:35

Morning all from a damp and rainy West Oxfordshire. It’s a good thing the gardener came yesterday.
Our daughter is coming today for Mothering Sunday weekend. There will be chocolate! I will cook beef bourguignon for dinner and I’ve made her favourite caramel ice cream. I have booked lunch out for tomorrow. I rarely hear from elder son on Mothering Sunday. But he’s a whizz at out of the blue presents! Younger son often sends daffodils.
Have a good day everyone, especially those of you who are having difficulties.

Grandmabatty Sat 09-Mar-24 07:38:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and dry. Leaden grey skies though. Mizuna be careful up ladders! Glammagran I have had leylandii cut right back and what a difference it makes. I didn't plant them and have plans to get rid of some, if I can.
Yesterday I felt rotten most of the time with sinusitis. Dd popped in with dgs2. I should have had him for a couple of hours to let her go to a hair appointment. However her stylist cancelled last minute so DD and dgs2 didn't stay long.
Today I'm going to dd's for afternoon tea for Mother's Day. I don't particularly bother about it but dd does, which is very nice of her. So a leisurely afternoon tea shared with the boys no doubt.😂 I'll probably just have soup later. I'm scunnered with the pains in my face and the pressure in my head. I can see a very slight improvement but I'm not a good patient! I hope everyone has a good day.

Marydoll Sat 09-Mar-24 07:42:07

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 5°C.
I have been awake for hours, my pain levels are high. (My own fault, I never learn and push myself too hard.)
I went down to make a cuppa and couldn't get back up stairs!
A gentle day for me, I think!

Mizuna, what a disappointment!

DH came with me to support, me driving my car. Divorce proceedings are one the cards.😂
Eventually I told him to either stop interfering distracting me or I would put him out the car.

While we were driving, my phone kept ringing on the hands free. I kept ignoring it. Eventually I answered it in the supermarket, it was so persistant. It turned out to be the hospital checking that I was still coming to my RA appointment. Sounds promising, it's been cancelled three times already and I really need a face to face appointment.

Later I went out on my own, with no problem at all. I wish I had changed to an automatic years ago, it was so much easier on my hands and hip.

Enjoy all your busyness and gave a good day folks.

Susan56 Sat 09-Mar-24 07:42:31

Good morning from Shropshire.A day of sunshine and showers forecast.

DGD stayed over last night. It has been lovely having her to ourselves. We went out for coffee/hot chocolate and cake after school and then she was happy drawing and then painting until bedtime.I just went to make myself a cup of tea and she is reading in bed.If H was here we would have all been up for at least an hour!

Today DD and I are going to a surprise gathering for a friend who is moving away.DH will look after the children.DD spent some time with her friend yesterday.Such a sad time.

I hope Grandmabatty and all under the weather are feeling better.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Gingster Sat 09-Mar-24 07:42:43

Thankyou Brook 🥰

Marydoll Sat 09-Mar-24 07:45:37

Grandmabatty DS and I suffer from sinusitis and find that a saline wash or Sterimar spray helps.
An inhalation of menthol crystals also helps.
I found the blinding headache the worst symptom.
I hope you feel better as the day goes on.💐

RosesandLilac Sat 09-Mar-24 07:46:09

Good morning, it’s raining here in south Glos, and feels somewhat chilly.
Yesterday’s lovely weather meant I got all the washing dried outside for the first time this year, so a very happy bunny!
Today I will get the ironing done then some art stuff I think. DD was supposed to be here this weekend but her plans have changed so another quiet weekend. I very much doubt I’ll get anything for Mothering Sunday, as usual 🤷🏼‍♀️
Have a great weekend everyone 🌹

kittylester Sat 09-Mar-24 07:50:54

Good morning all from a cold and wet North Leicestershire.

I have a hair appointment this morning but have dreadful stomach ache so think I will cancel - my hair is in a dreadful state.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 09-Mar-24 08:01:04

Good morning from a dry sunny Oxfordshire, chilly wind though.
I hope it stays dry so that I can give the lawns their first cut.
Apart from that I have an easy day, enjoy your day everyone.
Hugs for those who are unwell or stressed.
