I’ll be meeting up with my two daughters for a nice lunch. Looking forward to it.

Son number 2 stayed over night Thursday and took me to lunch yesterday and has given me his card. Son number 1 is here with our grandchildren for the weekend brought flowers and card with him and is talking about cooking lunch tomorrow. I don't expect anything but always pleased whatever they do to mark it. I miss doing similar for my own mother, particularly choosing a card with a cat on it, cats were our shared passion.

We’re at my daughters tomorrow with the grandchildren, she’s cooking lasagna, my son and his partner are taking dessert, all of us together, perfect, we had flowers delivered to my SP daughter today.
Originally we were going out, I’m glad that’s changed.

My daughter will be here this afternoon for the weekend. I’ve booked lunch tomorrow at my favourite restaurant. I don’t usually hear from elder son, although he’s a brilliant off-piste present giver. Younger son often sends daffodils.

I am at present at my DD’s. We are going to see Lee Mack in a play in London this afternoon with dinner afterwards and tomorrow she is taking me for meditation in hammocks! My DS sent a card with a very heartfelt message.

We are having a take out afternoon tea ( provided by a local tea room)
with the family. Having it at ours and I shall add a few bits of my own to it. When my mum died she had a lot of lovely linens that I had my pick of. One of them is a cloth with lovely spring flowers embroidered on it so I’ll fetch that out and feel that she is “with” us.

I tell ours I don’t want fuss but they always want to please us. We are seeing our daughter today and having lunch. Our son will see us tomorrow for a quick visit the rest of the day will include a nice home roast and Cava.

I will enjoy planting seeds and bulbs if the weather holds have a nice weekend everyone.

DS and family will visit this afternoon.
DD is at her home in Belgium but sent flowers and left a card for me. SIL will come for his Sunday dinner and we will cook together. He lost his parents when he was young, his father when he was 16 and his mother when he was 18.

Our daughter is taking me out for tea and she has booked tickets for There's Something About George at the theatre. It's about George Harrison. The poor girl is brainwashed! My own mother died 52 years ago. I hope everyone has a peaceful day.

I’m dining out with my daughter and family. The day will be tinged with sadness as my close friend of over 40 years died suddenly 3 weeks ago. I miss her so much and I feel heartbroken for her children and young grandchildren who are reeling from the sudden loss of their lovely Mum and Gran.

I’ve just received a card and an afternoon tea in the post from the most distant daughter.
Flowers dropped off by more local family.
Our dog doesn’t know it’s Mother’s Day, so she will just say Don’t forget I need another run!

Jax if it’s not insensitive to ask, what’s an SP daughter?

Poppyred Sat 09-Mar-24 10:09:07

Being taken out to lunch tomorrow by all the family. Blessed.

Visgir1 Sat 09-Mar-24 10:16:47

I'll be lucky if I get a card from my son, he's useless..takes after his Father, if I didn't put one under his nose to write his late mum wouldn't have got one either.
Daughter very pregnant so I'll be lucky to see her... But she won't forget.
Mothers day just another Sunday for me.

Thinking of all the mums who no longer have their own mother. My mum died 7 years ago next Friday.
Also mums who no longer have contact with their sons and daughters for whatever reason.
I've been estranged from my son now for 5 years .

annodomini Sat 09-Mar-24 10:37:47

DS2 is picking me up after his hockey match to take me home with him to be with his family for the weekend.

henetha Sat 09-Mar-24 10:59:51

One son is taking me out for coffee/cake in the morning.
The other son always comes to dinner on Sundays anyway.
I am truly sad for all mothers who don't see their sons, or daughters.

Cabbie21 Sat 09-Mar-24 11:28:30

My daughter dropped in yesterday leaving a card, flowers and two slices of home made cake, as she is away with a friend for the weekend in Tenerife.
Tomorrow after church I am going to my son’s for lunch which he will cook. His Yorkshire puddings are the best. His wife’s parents will be there too.

Another of those media inventions which I can thenkfully opt out of.

Mothering Sunday isn’t.

henetha Sat 09-Mar-24 11:33:21

Some media inventions are nice anyway.

Ziplok Sat 09-Mar-24 11:35:03

It’s just another day for me now, so no plans.

Beechnut Sat 09-Mar-24 12:01:16

My daughter is coming, I will cook and we are going somewhere.

greenlady102 Sat 09-Mar-24 12:06:43

none zip zero. I have no kids and my parents and in laws are dead.

yogitree Sat 09-Mar-24 12:09:51

Jealous! Meditation in hammocks is just my thing!
