Good news that Catherine is being seen again since her operation with a lovely family photo taken last week for Mother’s Day. Yes it’s the DM.

I suppose once you are photoshopping things then it could be a body-double with Catherine's head.

I think the garden is irrelevant. I tead we are 4 weeks early this year.

You're right, a whole body can be photoshopped and replaced with one from a different moment in time. When DD's wedding photos came back, I cried because there weren't any of me alone with her, (they were all of DH with her in the car, at the church, down the aisle, giving her away etc). The canny photographer looked back over the images and chose one of me in the line up by the Thames taken a few hours later. He skilfully photoshpped me into a new image back the churchyard standing by DD's side. That was over 12 years ago so I would imagine it is current practice now.

I think it was taken 25 years ago judging by the children’s old fashioned clothes.

Thanks NotSpaghetti

Can I give a illustration of how I feel photoshopping can be a complete lie
I love to get up early and take pictures of the sunrise from my nearby beach I never photoshop as I think the beauty is in itself often after I get home I ll see a sunrise photo on FB or a similar site even on the local news with brilliant deep red, scarlets, purples, oranges that just didn’t exist It’s a lie and it never fails to irritate me especially with all the comments of how marvellous it is, what a fantastic sunrise etc etc
I have never photoshopped a picture
I and my photos are what they are
The royals should be much more aware and careful they are young and knowledgable and should stay above lies and illusions if they don’t want comments and theories

A plant that shouldn’t be in leaf but is
No wedding ring
Louis’ fingers are crossed and it looks odd
Charlottes left wrist
I think George’s left wrist also looks odd.

Surely you would have just retaken the photo if it wasn’t right?

Unless William took so long pfaffing about that they all got fed up and cobbled something together from some old photos.

Good point, BlueBelle

When Catherine first started publishing her own family photos, they were criticised as being too ‘amateur’, the light wasn’t right, or there was too much shadow etc.

Seems that like most things, these photos now need to be totally amateur and untouched, warts and all, or completely professional with no hidden airbrushing or similar.

They can’t win. The idea was to publish a happy family photo of a mother and her family, with mum well on the way to recovery after an operation. Instead, it’s created more speculation and probably left Catherine feeling like facing the public again will be a huge trauma.

Not ideal.

I am annoyed that a photoshopped image is being presented as fact.

Good for the press taking this out of circulation.
I know it may be as simple as overlaying two or three photos to get the best facial expressions of everyone in it (with photos taken just seconds apart) but a professional photographer wouldn't allow this to happen.
It is wrong to present doctored photos for publication- and it's not the 1st time they have doctored photos.

I had professional photos of my work done a few years ago and noticed afterwards a small thread that should have been pulled through to the back of the work as part of my "finishing off" process. My photographer wouldn't edit it out but said if I wanted to do that (once I'd threaded the end of the thread to the back then he wouldn't complain. He would, however, keep only the original on his records.

I am not a royalist but I did use to admire their PR machine, it was excellent, I wonder if that was the Queens influence, this does seem odd.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 11-Mar-24 07:39:39

How ridiculous.

fancythat Mon 11-Mar-24 07:38:20

If it has been altered, or is fake in some way, what is going on?

fancythat Mon 11-Mar-24 07:36:46

Does it matter if the photo was photoshopped? It’s a nice photo of a mother with her children on Mother’s Day.

I think it matters.
It is a trust issue.

Galaxy Mon 11-Mar-24 07:31:30

So are we now saying the press should lie to protect people that seems a bit odd considering the usual uproar about press behaviour.

BlueBelle Mon 11-Mar-24 07:27:26

But look at this from another point of view Eazybee
When Prince Andrew said the photo of him with his arm around an underage girl had been photoshopped ( and it pretty obviously had when you looked carefully) everyone drowned him and it was poopood and went no further if I remember rightly
Once you tell one lie (and photoshopping is a lie) then you open yourself to criticism and shouldnt be surprised when professionals call you out for it
So yes it does matter I think

eazybee Mon 11-Mar-24 07:08:12

I think this is professional vindictiveness because the Wales like to release photographs taken by themselves, usually by Catherine. It also creates a story out of nothing. This is really going to aid her recovery, isn't it!

The press associations need to remember that members of their fraternity were partly responsible for the death of her mother-in-law by their irresponsible behaviour.

Magsymoo Mon 11-Mar-24 06:48:16

Apparently the tree in the background is in leaf to a greater extent than it would be in early March. So the speculation is that this photo was taken at a different time of year. I don’t care either way but I’m fed up of being lied to by government and is the RF now also treating us like idiots?

BlueBelle Mon 11-Mar-24 06:36:41

I suppose most people think the Royal Family are above such silly stuff obviously they re not and it’s causing a daft stir

I suppose people are thinking if they can’t be truthful over a lovely family photo what else are they hiding /changing / lying over
I m not observant enough to not take it for what it is …,a nice family photo but once you see one lie you expect others

For goodness sake imagine all your comments if this was Meghan She’d be hung drawn and quartered for weeks and weeks 🤣🤣

Lexisgranny Mon 11-Mar-24 06:34:42

In the scheme of things, and in view if what is going on in the world, does it really matter? What a wonderful world it would be if that was all there was to complain / worry about.

Cadenza123 Mon 11-Mar-24 06:30:45

Apparently there's certain rules that are applied for press photos and no photoshopping is one of them. All this has done is stir up more speculation which is apparently rife anyway. They do employ people who job it is to manage their PR. They are not doing a good job at the moment.

CoolCoco Mon 11-Mar-24 06:24:02

Loads of their photos are photoshopped - why are we surprised?

Whiff Mon 11-Mar-24 06:20:04

Oh for the days when you took photos and either sent the film off or took it to Boots to be developed and hoped the photos turned out ok and not blurred or heads cut off.

Why can't the press just say it's a lovely photo which it is . Why analysis it ?

BlueBelle Mon 11-Mar-24 04:47:42

Why change such a small thing as a child’s hand and why while they were at it, didn’t they change Louis hand the middle crossed finger looks very odd, it looks like he has two fingers crossing over so if they didn’t change that why change hers
It’s all very very strange
Why change anything ?why not leave a pleasant family photo alone with any tiny imperfections as still part of it

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 01:33:15

It’s incredibly rare for AP to issue a kill notification for a picture from such a high profile source. The picture was issued to make the point that KM is out of the hospital and well - that may or may not be the case, but AP can’t run or provide the image to its clients if there’s proof it’s been photoshopped.

Anniebach Mon 11-Mar-24 00:57:04

Doubt they knew the rules or doctored the photograph
