Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but a dry start here in brackley this morning.
I have a few jobs to do at some point, one is to return my old BT TV Boxes, they have supplied a package plus address label to return them including remotes.
Plus later do another Wiltshire Farms ready made meals order.
I will also do my regular bus trip to Bicester as it breaks the routine up for me.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
Yesterday went well. As expected, I was a puddle of tears in church. Sorrow, pride…. The girls did a splendid job organising and taking part in the service.
We went home for lunch. Unfortunately, Iris wasn’t feeling well, and SiL who is a dreadful worrier, has applied for a new job, and is hoping to be shortlisted. He takes out his anxiety on DGD1, it distresses Iris…..
I was very spoiled with presents from my girls, more tears.
Today, I’m going to Tesco with my neighbour, am buying the necessary for piccalilli, for sale in the church, which I shall be preparing in the afternoon.
Hope today is restful; Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and all who follow. 4° here in Polmont and dry.
After a few horrible days, I'm starting to feel a little better. Thank you Marydoll for the recommendation. The nose spray has been effective.
On Saturday I went to dd's for afternoon tea. It was lovely but I could only stay for a little while as I felt so bad. Yesterday I managed to go to Tesco for some food and lay down for a rest when the whole family appeared with chocolates and wax melts and cards. I was very touched. In the afternoon I visited mum but only stayed for twenty minutes.
Today is early childcare day. I expect dgs2 and I will have a quiet day. Dgs1 started football yesterday and scored five goals, three of which were in the opposite net. He didn't care, he was highly delighted. Have a good day all

Pantglas2 Mon 11-Mar-24 06:05:29

Good morning everyone from a dry North Wales where I’m drowning my 🏉 sorrows with a chamberpot ☕️😢 what a strong team 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 have, propping every other team up….🤬 at the bottom of the table!

Sad to read Susan’s post yesterday 💐

A quiet day for me after a gallivanting weekend- I do love my nest and feel in the mood for a spare room tidy up ( I’m sure if I laid down for a while, it would pass…😇)

A good day for all please with some sunshine in your lives 🌞

Good morning from s somerset and the birds are singing loudly. It is going to be cloudy and dry all day, I would say a bland sky

I have just finished slicing the two large cranks loaves that I made yesterday. Very quick to make with only one rise. I use an electric slicer with a rotating disc as that bread is tough to slice with a bread knife

I did actually potter all day yesterday, lots of this and that, very satisfying and I re-arranged my bed to be cooler with my side pillow. Good result, I slept well and did not feel the need to turn in bed

More nice cover-all pottering today

Have a good day

Good morning from a chilly but dry Torbay.

Yesterday, I had lovely chats with two of my three offspring during the course of the day. It’s more difficult with DD1 in Australia because of the time difference. DD2 was at the ASCL conference in Liverpool where Gillian Keegan made her remark about punching Ofsted inspectors!

www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/mar/08/gillian-keegan-says-she-would-have-punched-rude-ofsted-inspectors

DS rang me from a hospice in Southport where he was visiting his friend's father. He had amused staff and the patient by getting lost on the way there (his SatNav took him to a hospice shop) then, having had to vacate the room whilst medication was administered, returning to the wrong room afterwards!

It sounds like your day was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, grandMattie. No doubt memories of other Mothering Sundays played a part.

Thoughts with Susan56 and her DD dealing with their sadness.

I do hope you'll continue to feel better, Grandmabatty; I did smile about the own goals! And your comments about your team, Pantglas. I also have the same disinclination to tidy up!

Wishing everyone as good a week as possible, whatever the circumstances. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks dry

If our carpet fitting date is confirmed we’ll begin the emptying process today. We plan a couple of hours a day, enough for us both. Our goddaughter is phoning at some point to talk through her Mums care plan. Our younger granddaughter has a birthday today, we’ve been invited to an evening celebration at her home, a real blended family event. Must remember to take her gift and card.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Morning from a grey S Hants, glad you’re improving Grandmabatty love the OG’s.
We had a smashing lunch at my daughters yesterday, with my son too, fits of laughter.
Back on the voluntary phone today after a day off last week, my knee is still not up to quiz tonight, MrJ will fly the flag.
I hope MrBlossoming is improved or sees a GP, PurplePixie is still making progress and all other poorlies are a little better.

Good morning from the South Downs where a very dull but dry ish day is forecast.

Yesterday was spent with visits from offspring. So a pleasant catch up on all the family chat and news. House full of flowers now🙂.

Today I plan housework. The new pump (ordered by DH and which could rival the fountain in Geneva) arrived. I just hope that it can be turned right down. All I want is a pleasant trickle in the waterfall.

My eldest grandson is hoping to move into a house quite near us with his partner until she finishes her degree - so I am hoping to see them a bit more - largely to feed them no doubt! The house is owned by partners brother, so they are getting the rent cut rate which will help. Grandson is just about to start a job with a company working on commercial and MOD helicopters - his degree is computer and electrical engineering. All growing up now!

Enjoy your day all.

Peace to the world

Greyduster Mon 11-Mar-24 06:55:59

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Another grey day in South Yorkshire. Yesterday it never stopped raining, but I had a nice face time with DS in the morning, and DD and the menfolk came round for lunch in the afternoon, bearing lovely flowers and cards - I say cards, plural, as GS had found a For Grandma on Mothers Day card. I didn’t know they existed! He and his dad did the washing up (well, they loaded the dishwasher anyway!).
Not sure what’s on the agenda today, but it will be a slow start.
Have the best day you can folks.

Susan56 Mon 11-Mar-24 06:58:36

Good morning from Shropshire.Dull and dry at the moment.

Thank you for all your kind comments and messages.

Physio this morning.

Sorry you have been so unwell Grandmabatty and glad you are starting to feel better.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright
I had a lovely day yesterday, DD2 came round with the DGC and stayed most of the day. We enjoyed home made afternoon tea and played board games until about 5ish when they all went home except DGS who stayed here for his sleepover. This morning we’ve got the school run, followed by a check up at the eye clinic and then hopefully back to the gym
Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better today grandmabatty, hope you have a good day with the boys
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Mon 11-Mar-24 07:03:28

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 5°C.
Once again pain has stopped me sleeping, I was feeling quite sorry for myself at 3am!

Lovely to hear of all your Mother's day activities.
Yesterday turned out to be a bit of a disaster. I went into the conservatory to find a plant had toppled over, there was soil everywhere, the bottle shelf on the fridge door shattered, (can't source a replacement) I almost set the kitchen on fire (overdid the brandy) and slept for hours in the afternoon, because I felt so awful.
Not the best of Mother's Days! 😉

I have to drive to the car dealership on my today with the updated log book for my old car. I have a personal registration, so the car reverted back to the original reg. I am very apprehensive, but I will force myself to do it.

Wishing you the best day possible.

glammagran Mon 11-Mar-24 07:06:50

Good morning all.

Had a lovely day on Saturday with both daughters at Rick Steins in Marlborough. I was picked up by DD2 and concerned about parking but both she and DD1 managed to find spaces fairly quickly. Last Autumn for my birthday we had to abandon a booked restaurant table as we could not park anywhere due to a literary festival taking place at the college. DS may pop in today (he lives an hour away) but I hope he won’t because he has had such a busy weekend with 5am starts to get to his kids swimming competitions and must be exhausted. DGS1 knocked 2 seconds off his personal best in one race which apparently is huge.

Such sad news Susan56. 💐
Hope all those on childcare duties have an easy week. Have a good Monday all.

Very sad news

RosesandLilac Mon 11-Mar-24 07:09:58

Good morning everyone, a dull, damp start here in south Glos.
I enjoyed video calls from DD and DS and the DGSs yesterday. We had a delicious takeaway roast dinner from the village pub and a quiet day otherwise.
Today apparently we’re getting our smart meter, I have no idea what time, there’s been zero communication since I booked it several months ago 🤷🏼‍♀️
I need to take a parcel to the post office and walk the dog too but because she’s been getting worse and worse in the car I doubt that i can combine the two.
Hugs to anyone who needs one 🌹

kittylester Mon 11-Mar-24 07:21:02

Good morning all from a very wet North Leicestershire.

Today, I have admin to catch up on and this afternoon a phone appointment with someone from the Urology Dept at the hospital. I had a kidney scan yonks ago and have had the phone appt cancelled twice. I am assuming it was OK.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Mon 11-Mar-24 07:21:11

Good morning all and it’s a grey one.

Yesterday was a day of two halves - breakfast out with ds2 and dil. Lovely, chatty and fun.
DS1 and his wife came with gifts and cake , always lovely company.
Dd and little gd came but Dd was poorly and tearful.
Dh wasn’t in best form 🙄.

Oh well that’s families for you! Not everything is as we see in the films 💕💕 nor what others like us to believe 🤔.

I’ll do the school run this morning and then shop for us and Dd. I’ve got to pop round to DS1’s to let the dog out and give her cuddles and company for a while as everyone is working /school/college all day today.

It’s DGD 4’s 12th birthday today 🎈, so will FaceTime later.

I hope all poorlies feel better today . Take care all 🌷

Bellasnana Mon 11-Mar-24 07:22:35

Good morning from Malta where it’s 20°C and sunny.

The wind we had yesterday has dropped, thank goodness. Someone on a neighbourhood Facebook page was asking if anyone had seen a white sheet as it had flown off from her rooftop washing line!

I’m back with the boys this morning, if it wasn’t for my dog I might as well move in here!

DD3 enjoyed Venice and has gone back to school where they have Open Day today.

I’m sorry to hear of poorly grans, hope you get well soon.

Wishing everyone a good day.☀️

Bellasnana Mon 11-Mar-24 07:24:12

Crossed posts Gingster. Wishing your DGD a very happy 12th birthday.🎂🥳🎈

Pittcity Mon 11-Mar-24 07:33:44

Good morning from a grey Colchester. We went for a drive yesterday as DH had bought some fishing flies online and the rain was biblical.
I have a smear test this morning. DH asked if I'd been revising?
Love to all 🦩 x

Kalu Mon 11-Mar-24 07:38:42

Good morning from Glasgow. Grey skies again which makes outdoors looking quite lifeless.

Our planned Mother’s Day didn’t go as planned as DD1 was suffering from a very painful sciatica poor girl. Our rule is if we can’t celebrate any occasion on a certain date, we will celebrate on a date of our choice and a Mother’s Day visit will happen when DD is pain free. C’est la vie. FaceTime to the rescue again and I enjoyed spending time with both my girls and was able to thank DD2 personally for the beautiful bouquet from her which had been delivered earlier.

Well done that footballer Grandmabatty 😂. Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Such a sad time for you Susan.

Hoping a good day is ahead for all and a less stressful one for those with illness and worries.

luluaugust Mon 11-Mar-24 07:57:05

Good morning from a dank and miserable W Kent. Busy day ahead as I have to get DGD2 to the dentist, sort out what the cleaner is doing today and a DF is coming for tea later. We have a lot to discuss.
So sorry to read your sad news Susan
Marydoll Hope the drive isn’t too difficult
Best wishes to all

BlueSapphire Mon 11-Mar-24 07:57:25

Good morning everyone from a very damp and dull Northampton. Yesterday's weather was shocking, heavy rain all day, but it didn't stop DD and me from enjoying our shopping trip to Rushden Lakes!
DD had also booked a table for lunch so we had a lovely Italian meal as well. I was well and truly spoiled. And I found a lovely top in Nexr.

Yoga this morning,. so I must get my skates on. Then a day with nothing else planned, so I shall probably get on with my book club read. Maybe give the en-suite a deep clean too.

A new week ahead, so I hope it's a good one for all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 11-Mar-24 07:58:20

Morning all from a grey West Oxfordshire.
Usual Monday morning Waitrose shop. Craft afternoon at my over the road neighbour. We meet monthly and this month’s topic is crochet. I tried years ago but I’m quite a good knitter. It’s my turn to take cakes so I must defrost a batch of friands. I first tried these cakes in Australia, but apparently they’re Swiss. Perfect for using up left over egg whites (I usually have loads in my freezer from making custard based ice cream) mixed with melted butter, ground almonds and icing sugar.’
Have a good day. I’m thinking of Urms.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 11-Mar-24 08:01:19

Good morning from a grey and damp Oxfordshire, yesterdays weather was awful, let’s hope it’s drier today.
The dog has just run out from under the trees with something in her mouth and has spent quite a while burying it under some other trees at the bottom of the garden, no blood on her so she didn’t kill it, let’s hope she doesn’t unearth it later. Rabbit or dead bird maybe, I think MrOops will have to go out later with a trowel and dig it up. It’s between a hedge and a fence so tricky to get to.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are struggling.
