Why does my cat always take a circuitous route? He weaves in and out, never a straightforward jaunt!

Cats always weave in and out of your legs when you're going somewhere important, like to the door, or the toilet, or to answer the phone.

Our cat used to start the night sleeping at the bottom of DD’s bed.

In the morning DD would be on top of duvet at bottom of bed, and cat would have his head on the pillow and body under duvet.

Neither of them were ever eager to get up.

Genuine cat speak for "I'm a permanent tripping hazard unless you provide my breakfast immediately"

I had a booklet once which said something like, how clever is your cat!

I already knew mine was hopeless, but thought I would do the tests with it anyway.

It scored two out of ten. Three at a push.

I do not have a cat officially. However a cat has chosen me. He sits outside giving me “the look”. Sometimes I go upstairs to avoid it out of guilt.

The cat distribution system cannot function properly if you don't let them in lol

Oh cats are a little crazy but intelligent. I have looked after so many and they have very different personalities. Most of all they are such fun. I just ignore them. Drives them crazy and makes them affectionate which I love when they get over themselves.

It's much nicer indoors with treats , you stroking her on your lap .
And that's what you are there for !
I laughed at my neighbour's cat .
She pushes the cat flap to and fro making a noise until you open the door for HRH !

My friend's cat trained her to go outside and post him through the cat flap, so he could come in.

Our cat is basically an indoor cat and will only go out in fine weather if we are in the garden. However, she demands her right , on the coldest days, to have me open the door for her while she looks outside for a few minutes while the cold air falls into the house.

midgey, in answer to your question, your cat, clearly, sees this as a staff training issue.

Last night one of my kittens, having steadfastly refused to eat the food I’d given her, started snuffling round the food waste bin to get at it the moment I threw it away.

You just need to remember YOU own a dog but the CAT owns you!! You never get a cat to do as you say! If you want a lovely book to read there is "The Silent Miaow" by Paul Gallico who wrote The snow goose. Anyone who is "owned" by a cat will recognise lots of things in it.

My DD has recently been acquired by a cat. She, the cat, is a very beautiful, non pedigree, silver tabby.

Cat does a very good line in distain, she looks up at me, flicks her tail and pointedly leaves the room when I appear. I have been ruled by numerous cats over the years but I have never
met one quite as snooty as this before.

And to think there are people who can actually train cats! I’ve seen two women on the TV with cats trained to jump through hoops and do tricks. Heaven knows how that’s done.

Yes, this is familiar. Our elderly cat would only come in the back door, even if she went out thr front door. Could not go back in the front door even if it was wide open. She sat and looked sad at the closed back door instead lol

It is warm, so she is full of energy and would far rather jump in through the window than walk through the door!

Surely, even a human being can work that out?

Or at least jumped up onto the larder shelf to eat the food he had sniffed and sneered at.

A friend has five cats (and a dog) so you can imagine how many times she gets up and down off the sofa in an evening as they will only use the living room window. “Owned” by the famous five!

We lost our little cat recently so I’d love to jumping up and down to let him in or out … 😢

I saw this pic on Twitter. I thought it might ring a bell with contrary cat owners!

Rather than walk round to the back garden mine prefers to come in the front window and head down to the back bedroom to ask out.I put up with it as it adds to my steps.
