Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark and wet start to the day here in brackley this morning.
Yesterday , had its problems as to shopping , in Bicester it was a case of queing up to use self checks as some were down, and even when using not functioning fully as there was a computer glitch.
Otherwise as normal , today a day at home with TV and housework including laundry .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a rainy Northampton. A day indoors is forecast. Stayed dry yesterday and I managed to get a load of washing on the line.

Once DGD2 had gone home I hopped on the bus to pick up an order from M&S, and also had a browse around Matalan, coming out with some cropped trousers and a new cardigan.....

Home to an afternoon of rugby and the Saturday papers. Not the result I wanted for England, but a very close match.

Have decided I need to lose a few lbs before my cruise next month, so have revived the diet app on my phone, and will start being careful with the calories.

Plenty of recorded films I can watch today, then a roast chicken dinner. (counting the calories of course!).
Hope all have a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining.
Yesterday’s trip to York was good. The train was absolutely packed with good humoured Newcastle football fans heading to Manchester. It was quite a squeeze! Fortunately I was only on the train for 20 minutes. Shoe shopping was hopeless, no right size in a wide foot sandal or light flat shoe. I’ll have to look on line.
Cluedo2 was a bit disappointing….
The day out made me think back to my first GN meeting in York back in 2017. We haven’t met since the pandemic and I think only one member from those times still posts. There are a few new northern grans now. Would a meetup be of interest?
Today was going to be gardening before my lunch club at the village pub. Given the weather perhaps not!
Good to ‘see’ you gm
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a soggy, grey North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here apart from dropping DH at the station, calling at the egg farm on the way back and then the papers.

We had fun last night - well DH did - trying to catch a very frisky mouse which was running around the dining room. The crispy chicken wings I was about to serve were very dry by the time we got to them. I've had a word with the cats.

Grandmachrisy47 Sun 17-Mar-24 07:56:19

Dull and damp in Co Durham.
Glad to see grandMattie posting, such a hard thing to go through. Good you’re feeling better Granmattie and you Mizuna. Enjoy your Northumberland lunch, Georgesgran.
corner you must complain asap. I had the same pre Covid done on a Sunday morning in a deserted hospital and the staff were wonderful as I’m a very anxious patient.
Another quiet day for me. Exercise bike while listening to The ARc

GrannySomerset Sun 17-Mar-24 07:56:32

Glad to see gMattie back with us and hope things are soon sorted for her. It’s not nice to have to be permanently suspicious but modern life demands it now. Not raining yet but the forecast is dismal so another depressing day weatherwise. Church in the next village the highlight for me.

Grandmachrisy47 Sun 17-Mar-24 07:58:11

Whoops. Pressed send to early 😂. The Archers of course. Dh birthday today so expecting a visit from dd2 and dgd.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Mar-24 07:59:18

Morning all from a grey S E Essex, I am sure my mood is echoing the weather.

My back is so painful and stiff still despite doing exercises and stretching (as advised by physio last time this happened) I am not very good at being incapacitated.

Will be going out for brunch with DH and then I shall cook roast beef for dinner around 7ish.

Safe journey dear Urmstongran 🌞

grandMattie sending you (((hugs)))

Have a peaceful day 🙋‍♀️

Bonnybanko Sun 17-Mar-24 07:59:23

Good morning all it’s looking very cold today and I heard the rain all night from my bed on the east coast of Fife .

My carer will be in around 9 15 and I’ll be having bacon and eggs with toast. She’s a lovely carer from Dundee all tattooed up but I no longer mind about that I used to be so judgemental.

Have a good day all keep safe and warm

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 17-Mar-24 08:00:56

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t looked outside yet but I can’t hear rain.
Church this morning at one of the smaller churches.
Lunch is booked at one of our favourite places.
OH will watch the Liverpool match - I’m the real supporter but will be very nervous.
I thought I had finished the WI AGM admin yesterday. Obviously not as I had an email at 6 am asking if we were doing a particular thing! Eek. I’ll have to send out another email.
Good to see GM posting.
Bon voyage to Urms😎

Good morning from a grey drizzly Suffolk after a full day of sunshine yesterday.

It was good to see gM posting again and being able to use her horrendous experience to think of others.

I am off to Eastbourne tomorrow for a 5 day break with a dear widowed friend of mine who wanted a holiday but doesn’t want to go alone. I’m sadly not expecting the warmth and sun that Urms will have on her well deserved break.

DH will be happy at home with our little dog for company and AC will probably phone him more regularly than usual. Dog walking is a sociable activity around here so he’ll have as much social contact as he chooses, which usually is quite limited.

I will take a break from posting whilst away but will be thinking of you all and hope life is positive for all.

Georgesgran Sun 17-Mar-24 08:21:07

Yes Alygran. Ho’way the Lads - Toon Army!

Kalu Sun 17-Mar-24 08:22:02

Good morning from Glasgow. We have a thick mist with sunshine so far plus higher temperatures. It could be a gardening day🤞

No plans for today thus far, doing this and that type of day.

I’m pleased to see you back GM and sounding less anxious. It’s lovely to hear you and your DD have become closer.
What a dreadful experience for you cornergran. Good luck.

Wishing all a good day ahead.

Kalu Sun 17-Mar-24 08:23:26

Bon voyage 🛫 Urms

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 17-Mar-24 08:27:40

Good morning another sunny day here, temp expected to be 25 degrees, but a breeze usually starts late afternoon.
Another day of reading, sitting by the pool and not doing very much.
The lovely neighbour who gave us a cup of tea when we first arrived (we were given the wrong key code and had to wait for the office to answer the phone) is moving out today, she is a resident and has a whole house to move along with her disabled Mother, a dog and 2 cats, all being done by friends with vans! I don’t envy her.
This part of the Island has many many new builds all with very low walls all around the properties so you can’t escape knowing what your neighbours are up to. It doesn’t suit me but as all the properties are snapped up as soon as they are built it must be a popular idea.
We are ‘house hunting’ on Rightmove whilst sitting by the pool……
Have a good day everyone, relieved that you are posting GM I had a talk with MrOops yesterday about cyber security, let’s hope it sank in.
Hope Marydoll is ok too.

Jaxjacky Sun 17-Mar-24 08:38:48

Morning and Happy ☘️ from a wet S Hants. MrJ was happy with the rugby yesterday Pantglas, England gave it away in the last minutes.
Happy Birthday MrGrandmachrisy 🎂🎉.
Pleased to see gMattie back 👋👋 and Mizuna
No real plans today, I might venture to the pub for meat draw later after football.

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast. Nice to see *Grandmattie”s post and hope everything settles down on that score.
DD arrived from the south and after an hour or so, went off to best friend’s 50th dressed Madonna style with help from my collection of pearls and crosses. Such energy…I stayed in and started watching an old series, Martin Chuzzlewit, excellent.

I’m booked into an art workshop this afternoon so will see what that produces and cook a turkey crown out of the freezer.
Hope you have a good Sunday and thoughts to all with worries 🌺

EkwaNimitee Sun 17-Mar-24 08:53:23

Good morning Mick and everyone from a greyish Carlisle where the sun is doing its best to get out.
I was in Sainsbury's early yesterday....it was unusually busy. That was due to the tills not taking cards and holding everyone up as many were having to dash outside to use the ATM. I had my card declined twice but fortunately had cash on me though that meant rescanning my goods.
Today I'm intending to go for a walk shortly as long as it doesn't rain in the next half hour. After that, some admin and then finishing the Sunday papers. Gardening could also happen but I'm not holding my breath.

Have a good day everyone.

Urmstongran Sun 17-Mar-24 09:02:14

Good morning everybody from south Manchester where it’s raining at present. I’m off to the airport by taxi in a couple of hours. I’m excited , nervous and apprehensive about Himself in equal measure. This will be a trip of mixed emotions for me that’s for sure. I hope I’m doing the right thing by going. We plan to FaceTime each other frequently - to reassure me that all is well. Himself says ‘just enjoy yourself and be careful’. I shall miss him very much. I can’t believe I’m leaving him. Back Friday lunchtime. I need to have faith now and Look Forward.

Here’s Matt.

Safe travels Urms.

Good morning all

Grammaretto Sun 17-Mar-24 09:04:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Weather back to default dreich after a glorious day of sunshine.

The Canadian 🍁 girls have gone to Edinburgh for a day of culture and walking. They will bring me back some cheese from Stockbridge market. 🧀

I had the pottery class yesterday, packed the kiln so today 3 or 4 of us will work in the warm pottery studio.

Have a lovely time in your special place Urms 😘

Well done gMattie for "outing" yourself to help others.
I hope that now all your family and friends can help with the finances and the bank ofcourse.

Corner how horrid for you. I hope you make a good recovery.
Wishing everyone the best
St Paddy's Day possible.

Good morning from a damp & dismal Sefton. For the past week I have woken up to blue skies & sunshine. We have been enjoying a break in Lanzarote with DS2, DiL & DGD2 (aged 4). The weather is just perfect at the moment NannyJan53, have a great time.
Today's plans will be restocking the fridge & having to think about food & cooking (after a week of it being somebody else's problem) washing & (maybe) ironing. Back to reality - Sigh!
Having had a device free week I have only just caught up with grandMattie's horrible experience. These people really are scum. I do hope it can be successfully sorted for her.
Bon Voyage Urms. Enjoy the sunshine.

Beechnut Sun 17-Mar-24 09:19:28

Wishing MrGrandmachrisy a Happy Birthday 🎉🍺

Taichinan Sun 17-Mar-24 09:29:42

Good morning all from the foggy Angus coast. The sun popped its head out a few minutes ago, but took one look and went back to bed. Don't blame it - of all the weather we have, this is my least favourite.
Mizuna! Lovely to see you again - I was getting worried. Sorry you've been poorly, but hope you're better now. A sunny Cornish day will be a tonic
Gmattie glad to see you're back too, and with plenty of support. As you will have seen on here, there's several of us who have been affected by this scam in recent years. In my case, I chickened out at the very last moment thank goodness, but it results in so many problems and leaves a very nasty after taste. It's good of you to share with others.
I hope Marydoll feels well enough to post again soon - I don't think we've heard from her since her consultation with her rheumatologist.
On a lighter note - enjoy your trip to your happy place Urms and come back tanned and refreshed and bearing sunshine for all.a
My visit to the relatively new farm shop up the road from me yesterday was - interesting! I expected the usual - piles of lovely earthy fresh veg and maybe a freezer with some home cooking. Instead I came up against a wall of little glass-fronted cubbyholes enticingly showing their various contents but refusing to open. Then I came to a computer. A young girl materialised from somewhere and offered to help.
A list of goodies available came up at the top of the screen. She helped me select what I wanted and then I paid with my card. After I'd done that the various glass-fronted cubbyholes clicked open, allowing me to take my purchases. The whole thing was a totally unexpected experience! As I drove away I thought to myself that I wouldn't be back, but after I'd eaten their Farmhouse beef stew I changed my mind - it was succulently delicious! Oh, and that was another thing - the microwave packaging. You are instructed not to pierce the film as normal and that the package would whistle when it was done. Fat chance of me hearing that, I thought to myself as I trotted off through the house to do something else while I waited. But that whistling was something else! I'm sure it was playing a tune and I certainly heard it! All recycleable packaging too, apart from the covering film. So all in all a great success - and another step towards the 22nd century for me 🤩 which I didn't expect to take on a farm on the east coast of Angus. I can't wait to go back now!
Sausage and mash for tea tonight - the mash comes courtesy of the farm larder and in a whistling container. My inner child is having a ball!
Enjoy your day - and pardon my excitement over new technology 😉😁

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 11°C.

Nothing planned for today, wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Sunday 🌹.

Good morning from the East Yorkshire countryside. It is wet …… again

Wishing you safe travels Urmstongran enjoy the sun. Recharge your batteries and the change of scene. It will do you the world of good I’m sure.

We are pottering this morning then going out for lunch before DH is also watching that match from Old Trafford. I fear I may need my ear plugs he does get rather animated 😕
