Bloody Evri!

Yesterday offered a repeat performance of my post earlier; notification of delivery, no parcel, and checking online the delivery photo showed my item resting against the door of a house along the road. They were not at home - I cannot imagine what this delivery man is thinking as he doesn't knock, but leaves my goods at other houses, presumably not knocking there either. Other neighbours have had the same experience - perhaps he wants to get us all taking to each other.

Right after my initial M&S order (school socks for Gdcs) I went mad and ordered them another pack each. So that delivery was due the day after the first - again a named day delivery.

It wasn’t just late - it didn’t turn up until the day after!
I did however have a very swift and apologetic reply from M&S.
One late delivery you can put down as a glitch, but two, on consecutive days??

We must be lucky here with Royal Mail - all my yarn supplies and stuffing come from Wool Warehouse, £1 more for delivery than with Evri, but I choose RM every time, and the finished items I post via RM to the charity (SW London to E Yorks) almost always arrive the next day. Postman will pick them up for free, too.

My local Evri delivery man, who we have had for several years, is very good and very reliable, but the system really falls apart if he is ever away sick or on holiday!!!

Also, no problems with Evri here.
Always delivered on time and very polite

No problem at all with Evri here. My only delivery problem is when large parcels are delivered and just left outside the gates without even ringing the gate buzzer to tell me they are leaving something and then when I look online they have the cheek to say parcel has been handed to owner.

Round here if your delivery is marked anytime after 5.pm it won't come until he next day. We always get a message saying "Sorry we can't deliver today and will attempt delivery tomorrow"

I have a fab Evri courier...always on time and always helfpful... It's Amazon I have a problem with....

here Amazon is wonderful. ordered a plug for the sink at 6pm yesterday and they delivered it before 6pm today

I've ordered two lots of flowers, one for a bereaved friend - they didn't arrive at all, and one for a poorly relative - they were thrown over her garden fence and didn't survive too well.
Two days ago I heard a light tap at the door, and was there within seconds, only to see the delivery driver getting in his van. My next day delivery parcel was nowhere to be seen, and half an hour later I had a text telling me it had been delivered, and left in a safe place. After an age on the phone to M and S, with much to say about their delivery service, the lady sent me a photo of the door where the parcel had been delivered, and it was about ten houses along from mine. The people were not at home so it has been left ont their doorstep. Yes, why do M and S use Evri?

I have had moans about this company…but recently I can’t fault them; they are only as good as the actual courier I find!
Today for example they followed the request for del to ‘special place’ and even shut the gate (which the flipping window cleaners fail to do) but that’s another story!

I wrote to him after getting no reply/service from customer services. He passed it on to his staff but the issue was dealt with. The excuse for the parcel being three weeks late was a) weather, b) surprised by Christmas!! And another equally poor excuse which I forget now.

I informed the company I made my purchase from that I wouldn’t purchase from them again unless they offer an alternative delivery company. To their credit they responded within 24 hours stating they had done just that. Definitely worth letting companies know about how unreliable Evri is.

Another time, the parcel was just thrown into the garden in full view of all passers by.

Currently I am still waiting on the delivery of a parcel sent to me by a person (not a company). It was sent in November last year! I would have warned against using them had I known that was their choice.

As the company is just so unreliable I will not use Evri ever.

I hope enough people complain direct to the CEO to make him actually do something about his company. 🤞

We’ve never had a problem with Evri deliveries - I even gave our delivery guy a tip at Christmas!

I buy from shops that use Evri I have only had an issue once due to a road closure near where I live …🙂

Our local Evri driver is rubbish! I complained we'd never had a parcel from Boden so they sent me another by 1st class post. Meanwhile, DH discovered the original in the hedge down the road. It wasn't an isolated incident, several times things haven't arrived at all or they'd "tried to leave " them - oh yes? I do try not to buy from companies using them but it's not always apparent until you've actually paid.

Being an Aussie I can't comment on Evril but it sounds pretty close to how articles are delivered by Australia Post. My worst occasion was a long awaited overseas delivery of bags I had ordered for friends for Christmas some years ago. I was sent a photograph of my letterbox out in the street, with the parcel in front of it as proof of delivery. However, it was nowhere to be seen even though I have a secure front porch, and it was assumed it had been taken by "porch pirates, some of whom actually follow the drivers and then steal the delivery. I did eventually get sent replacement bags. A few years later I found the original parcel behind a gate around the side of the house that is never used, covered in debris and leaves, no writing on the label as it had worn off with the seasons, and most of the wrapping eaten by snails and who knows what. Other times I have been told to expect a delivery and I have waited at home to eventually find a card in the letterbox saying no-one was home and it had been taken to a post office but couldn't be collected until after 4pm, or the next day. A housebound invalid friend of mine who finds it difficult to walk and does all purchases on line, always puts a notation to leave them in her front porch. Instead they are often thrown over her front fence in all weather. Imagine trying to struggle down steps with a mobility walker in the rain with a grabber to try and pick up something off the ground.

Our driver is very reliable time wise on delivery. Unfortunately recently I needed to return some items, I always used to take my returns to our local Co-op, but they have stopped taking them I tried using one of the storage boxes at a local store and that didn't seem to accept the bar code when I scanned it? 🤷I then asked for a home collection online, I received a notification email, saying when the parcel would be collected , (last Tuesday) it wasn't I left it in our porch every morning ,on Friday I noticed the delivery man in our street, I flagged him down and asked about my collection , he hadn't been notified🙄 , luckily he did collect it and gave me a receipt. So I think it is the Evri service that is at fault, the poor drivers run around like headless chickens trying to do the deliveries in the time frame.

Our local Evri agent is first class and we’ve never had a problem or delay. However some other delivery companies are useless in my experience we ordered a new bed from wayfair and received a text to say it had been delivered the image of the front door wasn’t ours but we tracked it down to the block of flats further up our street. The same thing happened with my sons new iphone15 it was left sitting on a door mat outside another flat the delivery note said signed for by Bob!!

For Witzend and others, the whole question of parcels going missing (or merely late) is a nightmare, right round the country, and it applies to just about all courier firms in my experience.

Evri's service depends on a postcode lottery (like the NHS?!), with a good driver it works pretty well, and others less so.

Parcelforce are erratic in the same way, I paid for a next day delivery recently, it turned up a day late, I complained, got the extra fee refunded. And that's happened before.

I see on our local F'book a steady stream of plaintive "who's got my parcel -- whose door is that??" comments, even FedEx I saw had misdelivered something last week.

Oh, and WHOEVER came up with that whole nonsense of taking a pic of the bottom of a door, and sometimes a pair of feet, to prove that they had delivered a parcel somewhere, could be bl**dy anywhere, should be removed for the purpose of becoming a multiple organ donor for people who deserve them . . . .grrrhhhhhhh!!

I’m really surprised that M&S uses Evri when it is so hit and miss. Our local delivery driver works very hard but has been known to deliver at 8pm due to being overloaded with no allowance for traffic delays.
I ordered a heavy item for which the seller paid extra for Next Day Delivery It was delivered 8 days later having been sent to the wrong part of the country despite a clear London address on the label and then was left sitting at the depot until the supplier got on their backs. Very annoying but often the Royal Mail is not much better.

Our Evri driver is the best out of all the delivery companies. Always cheerful, follows instructions if you're not in and waits for you to answer the door after knocking. It's definitely luck of the draw.

I have an excellent Evri Courier. The only time anything went missing was when she was off with a broken leg! The worst Company, for me, us Yodel. Parcels left outside the gate at the bottom of a long drive.

My Evri courier's brilliant. She always delivers and collects from my safe place. Never had a problem.
On lots of sites you can choose a safe place but at your own risk. Do amazon take any notice? Some do, some don't.

Avon use Evri for deliveries and my last 2 orders mysteriously went missing. I am convinced they were stolen by Evri employees but no way of proving it. I complained bitterly to Avon both times. They were happy to resend the orders but one of them couldn't be fully replaced as items had gone out of stock

I find Evri very efficient - mostly better than Royal Mail.

When Evri was Hermes they were pretty bad. Only the name has been changed...
