I have a quilted table mat I made for my dining table, all made out of blue scraps.

I have some beautiful turned wood bowls and ornaments that were my mother's.

The bird bath outside my kitchen window is getting a good bit of custom now.

I made a huge union Jack cushion that's very bright and cheerful.

My lovely white daffodils are just opening. (It's still pretty cold up here in Northumberland.)

I was inspired by looking around at my flat, which resembles a tombola.

Meant to say - what a lovely thread MissAdventure! An unusual topic but very interesting to read.

Oh so hard to just pick six! Galway Crystal vase on mantle piece bought at Kylemore Abbey Our wedding China in my display cabinet My wedding brooch bouquet im a vase on the window sill A Steven Brown print of a collie one side of the sitting room window and one on the other side of a cow and a Royal Doulton dinkydoo figurine that was a 21st birthday gift in display cabinet

A note in my jewellery box from my father to me on the maternity ward saying lovely things about our newborn daughter. He was dying of cancer and was too poorly to visit.

A musical ‘21 Today’ card from Himself to me. We had been married only a few months by then.

A photograph of my late mum taken in Ibiza on our last (of many) holidays we took there together in pretty Es Caña. It sits in a frame on my bookcase and I look at it every day.

A small wooden box in our little Spanish apartment. It cost buttons but we bought it the week we bought the apartment - 20 years ago this summer and it reminds me of the joy I felt.

Oh my goodness, only five!! I am definitely a things person and have so many. But I have nothing that means nothing - they’re not all beautiful or useful so can’t quote Wm Morris - and it’s wonderful to have things that mean so much and remind me of people. So here are a few -
A book DS bought me (in a primary school sale) on dahlias.
A self portrait DS did in secondary school.
The little tag with her name on that DD had to wear round her neck for her first days in primary school - she had to go by bus so each bus route had a different colour.
DM’s china mug.
DMiL’s knitting basket.
Numerous painting done by family members - some valuable, some not. Family furniture, ditto.
So many other things even as I look round the garden room I’m sitting in I’m surrounded.
Oh yes, I’m definitely a things person!

All the cards and gifts my grandchildren have made for me ❤️ and pot shaped like a tomato which has faded that holds bits and pieces. My daughter made it at school not Clara cliff but love it. And family photos up the stairs.

I need to exclude my technology because it’s expensive, so not really small. A small infinity heart pendant from my husband. My wedding and engagement rings. My sewing machine and overlocker (although they weren’t cheap either to be fair).

A green carved owl my grandson chose for me . My three rings I wear. One was my mum’s and she designed it . And my three rescue chihuahuas who mean the world to me

I'm not a things person so very few keepsakes.I have the piece of coal my Dad first footed us with at New Year 1975/76 .my OH has first footed us with it every year since.

A frame with little self portraits painted by my children and GC for my 65th birthday..needs updating theres one that has a question mark that has been a bright funny wee girl for four and a half years and a new one on the way.

My wedding ring,cost all of £20 in the Argyll Arcade in 1975 ,has been extended after being cut off my finger after I caught it on a nail.
A pair of tiny socks that my son wore in his incubator that were thigh high on him but barely measure 2 inches long ,I have a picture of him wearing them

A drawing by my daughter of a Photography Studio ,drawn when she was about 7 that says Mr Paddy and Daughter photographers above the entrance,she did come work with us and had her own photography business after she moved out of the area
A new one that I love a bronze Banksy statuette of the man throwing flowers not bombs..a gift from my daughter after we saw the Banksy exhibition last year ,I dont "do" ornaments but I love this one and it sits in front of my always lit salt lamp which frames it perfetlt

3 photos of my little Tuxedo girl cat who went to the Rainbow Bridge a month ago, my very elderly, about 90 years, Tortoise Bilbo Baggage, he is a noisy little terror banging his shell on his food plate for attention so called Baggage not Baggins! Alexa so I can listen to Planet Rock all day!

A small card with a four leaf clover my granddaughter gave me when she was very young, it lives in my purse.
A gold cross and chain my Mum used to wear, I rarely take it off.
The keeper ring my husband gave me for a birthday, always worn.
Three pieces of glasswork, one in the window, one with a tea light behind it and one by the window
We don’t have photos displayed or any other ornaments.

I've been trying to think of more things. We have a shell that our granddaughter brought back from a holiday when she was a little girl. Also a wind chime that she made at school. I have a set of rosary beads that my daughter bought for me at the Vatican. I knew there must be something!

A photo of DH when he was about 5 years old. He looks so sweet, rather timid. The clothes he is wearing make him look like the boy in ‘Whistle Down The Wind’.

My copy of ‘Gone With The Wind’. My favourite book. Has been read dozens of times, but never tire of wishing Scarlett had ended up with Rhett.
