Good Morning Everyone,
Its just twilight here in brackley but its dry outside .
Today my usual routine , one of amusing things I see once I have sat down in Sainsburys is people trying to get out of the self checkout area without using the barcode on there reaccept to get through the barrier ,some try to force the gates , although there are staff on hand .
Apart from housework , not much more .
Take Care,
Mick

Scraping in to wish you all a good day. I’m on the train home to the north after a lovely few days with my DD, meeting up in London with my sister, nice meals and elegant afternoon tea.
Looking forward to an ‘empty’ day tomorrow.
Will read through the posts now.

I’m back here in Co Durham. For the first time yesterday I admitted to myself that I’m not as agile as I was. Asked for help with my small suitcase getting on and off the train. York station lifts were closed and one flight of stairs was daunting but I asked a passing traveller who immediately picked up my case and carried it down to the platform. Arrived in our local station, took a taxi home then she and I went to our local pub/ restaurant for a good meal.
Back to usual today with walk to school then hairdressers.
I was astonished by the size of the M&S at Cheshire Oaks when my sister and I went on Saturday.
Good luck to those with medical and dental appointments today.belated birthday greetings to Stilllearning
💐 for Kalu

Hope I haven’t missed anyone.

Good morning from a wet and blustery Lanzarote, we certainly brought the British weather over with us, but we do get an occasional burst of sunshine, we found a small heater in a cupboard and used it last night, we were both so cold.
I’m still fighting the vertigo and stomach bug, let’s hope I can get on the flight home on Thursday.in fact let’s hope I make it to the Airport!
stilllearning belated birthday greetings
Kalu 💐
Hope all GNers have as good a day as possible. Hugs to those in need of comfort.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 9°C. The sun is trying to break through the clouds.

We have been to the supermarket for the weekly shop. No real plans for today, I got through a lot of admin yesterday including checking my personal tax account on line. I don’t trust HMRC to get it right ever since they sent me a letter claiming I owed them over £2000. I didn’t, needless to say. It’s almost impossible to speak to a human being and even harder to speak to a human being who knows what they’re doing. Being able to use the online services is much easier.

Hope your appointment is better than expected Susan.

Hope the dentist appointment goes well Karma, I think the anticipation is the worst part.

A belated happy birthday Stilllearning. I used to think I’d be lost without my car, but having to give up driving following my brain injury actually made me enjoy the world around me me a lot more.

Kalu you are in such a hard place and you cope with it admirably, I will be thinking of you flowers.

Have the best day you can all 🦩

EkwaNimitee Tue 26-Mar-24 10:32:18

A Very Happy Birthday to you Stillearning and that was a brave decision to make re driving. Good luck !

Stressful times Kalu, I hope you’re getting practical and emotional support, be thinking of you.

Taichinan Tue 26-Mar-24 09:49:13

So sorry Kalu. You are being so courageous through this hard time and our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your DH whether or not you post. Lots of love.

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Mar-24 09:45:05

Better late than never stillearning Happy Birthday 🎂🎉, a wise decision.
Kalu, how sad, your heart must break 🥀.

Scapa1 Tue 26-Mar-24 09:44:08

Kalu sorry to hear you are crumbling. Anyone going through what you are will know exactly how you are feeling. My best friend of over 50years has recently gone through this and I know how hard it is to keep going at times. Please ask for support when you need it. I hope you have people close who can just listen without anything else being needed.

cornergran Tue 26-Mar-24 09:42:34

Kalu 💐💐💐. Thinking of you.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dry with high cloud in South Yorkshire and I woke very late. My trip into town yesterday was very disappointing. If I ever go into M&S again it will be too soon! Both art galleries I wanted to visit are now closed on a Monday and the town centre is a building site.
Volunteering this afternoon. I ordered some lawn shears which were supposed to be delivered on Sunday and now they are coming today when I’m not going to be in and neither is my neighbour. Hey ho.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Kalu 💐
I am so sorry to read this. Even the strongest of us crumble, where our loved ones are concerned.

Kalu Tue 26-Mar-24 09:04:31

Good morning from Glasgow.

DH took a tumble at 3.00am which had me rushing downstairs to help him back to bed where I sat until I was sure he was peacefully asleep again. The reality of our situation has hit me hard and my efforts to stay upbeat and positive are crumbling.

Much love and a huge thank you to all you lovely caring bunch of people but I will take a break from our lovely thread for a while.

Have the best day possible all.

GrannySomerset Tue 26-Mar-24 09:04:20

I admire your brave decision, Stilllearning, it takes courage and honesty to admit you shouldn’t be driving. I have limited my time behind the wheel but with virtually no public transport life would be very hard so I continue to drive locally. Hope I am brave enough to recognise when I should stop.

Beechnut Tue 26-Mar-24 08:58:32

Many Happy belated Birthday greetings Stilllearning and pleased to hear you had a lovely time. 🎉🎂

Belated birthday greetings Stillearning glad you had a lovely time with family 💐 safe travels home.

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Mar-24 08:49:47

Morning all from a dry S Hants, not for long though, rain due later.
My worst karma I hope it goes well.
Have a lovely break pantglas.
Hopefully a small glimmer of light Susan
MrJ finished jet washing the patio yesterday, so I’m allowed out to play, we were let down by the company booked to steam it.
Voluntary phones busy yesterday, some loose end to finish today. Quiz was very busy, we didn’t win a prize, but it was an enjoyable evening.
Couple of phone calls today, my car needs a wash and I need to go to the cash point.

Happy belated birthday greetings, Stilllearning. You certainly don't look eighty!

How kind of you thinking of GM.

I am glad to hear, that you have been thoroughly spoiled.
See you in April!

Mizuna Tue 26-Mar-24 08:43:42

Welcome to the backpack life Stilllearning! It is an adventure. I love it because it brings me nearer to people I would never have met in a car and because so much of it is unpredictable.

Urmstongran Tue 26-Mar-24 08:38:44

Belated birthday greetings Stilllearning how lovely to hear you’ve thoroughly enjoyed your special day!

Stilllearning Tue 26-Mar-24 08:36:03

Morning from Giffnock which looks clearish but at least dry for my journey home.

It’s been an exceptionally busy couple of weeks for me, but so very enjoyable. I was eighty a week past on Friday, but didn’t say anything on here because that was the day that poor Grandmattie posted about her terrible shock of being scammed so it didn’t feel appropriate. However I’ve spent the week being thoroughly spoilt by my family, in fact quite overwhelmed and very grateful. Culminated on Saturday with a large get together of extended family and good friends from ‘down the ages’, it was such a happy occasion.

In addition I have made the huge decision to stop driving. I am aware of not having the concentration/speed of reaction that I used to so have decided to stop, perhaps a little early rather than a little late. I’ve sold my car so no backing out and have embarked on my next adventure of total bus/train travel.
I’m joining you Mizuna in a backpack life, although unlike you, not heading for beautiful beaches!
I have to say that nonstop rain since I made the change has been challenging.

Hoping all goes well for Karma and Susan and others with treatment going on this week. Your daughter too Gingster
