I am resigned to several weeks (maybe drifting into months) of uncertainty regarding the house. I talk to it, asking why it’s misbehaving, yep I am on the rocky road that includes having conversations with white goods also 😱

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been a beautiful day here and I have played truant, ignoring all the things I should have been doing and spending time on the Marina, trainspotting and dawdling about. MrB spent the afternoon cleaning and polishing his newly repaired motorbike, then taking it for a run.

Yia I am so very sorry to hear your sad news, what a terrible shock .

Jax why do men refuse to contact a doctor when they obviously need one? I had to force MrB to ring the surgery after his collapse, and I even talked him through setting up the NHS app. No easy task as he’s an absolute techphobe.

I had a visit to a garden centre with a friend today. We had coffee and cake (of course) then meandered around looking at the plants. It was stuffed full, new things kept catching our eye and off we’d scuttle. We ended up finding one of those low loader trollies in which to transport our goodies. I bought some casualties from the ‘sick bay’ area of plants past their best. Who could resist tiny polyanthus flowers and pots of muscari that are going over for £1.50 each! They’ll go in the beds and hopefully I’ll see them again next spring. I

I also found white trailing lobelia, which I could not get last year, though I’m a bit worried about them getting frosted, and a tray of mixed hanging basket plants ready to just pop into your own container. I also got a big buddleia for £13.99 and some pots of herbs.

When I returned from my jaunt I hauled Dh off to buy some more compost. As we were loading the bags into the car I noticed that the bags were warm and as we got further down the pile, the hotter they got! 👀 If I hear a certain local store burns down, I’ll know it was probably spontaneous combustion!

I’m sorry to hear your news Yiayia and send hugs. Get that man to the doctor Jax! Having difficulty getting DH to see our GP.
We have a large walnut tree in the garden which reaches over and taps on our neighbour’s roof, so the tree surgeons will be here on Monday to prune it. It was last done 4 years ago. Today’s job is to clear the route from the front of the house to the tree for easy access.
We are on GC duty on Monday too, taking 2 yo stepGGS to preschool, GC to school and 18yo step grandson to college. It means an early start, which I am not too good at these days.
I have sent emails, caught up here and done my pre op knee physio. Perhaps I can get back to sleep now?

I was up at 6 am today certain it was Monday and the electrician was coming to do some work in about 3 hours. By the time Birdbrain realised the time and day my bed would have been cold so it was coffee and my computer.

SueD I would love to cat-sit your two minxes. They would be overwhelmed with love and cuddles. I am too old now to adopt another cat and nobody around here owns a cat or dog.

I lost mine recently Charleygirl and love to cuddle other folks’ cats and I know what you mean.

A quiet day here as befits the poorly house, I’ve had a token kitchen clean, encouraged seeds to germinate and checked my children are back from their respective hen and stag weekends. It doesn’t matter how old they are (33 and 37) your Mum instinct still tickles your mind.
Chicken in the oven, at least MrJ is still eating.

Well, no gardening for me today after all. So much unforecast rain! Harrumph. Instead, we walked to a nearby garden centre for coffee and now I have even more plants to find homes for. 😂 I need to rake out lots of dead grass from the ‘lawns’ - what rake is best, can gardeners tell me? Is it a normal rake or one of the ones with long tines?

I’ve done more admin for the house repairs which I need to follow up with a phone call in the morning. Not much else happening today so I wish you all sweet dreams. Xxx

A bit of rain, some sunshine but rather chilly today. Done lots of the admin that kept me awake and two lots of washing. Then we did a bit more in the garden and some throwing away in the study, so the day has been a success.

The long, skinny, rattly tines I think SueD I’ve long ago accepted our ‘lawn’ is an eco shrine, aka moss and daisies.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been a dry cloudy day here and quite mild. I have sorted out my meds for the next few weeks and dealt with some correspondence. I’m working at my balance exercises. MrB has been tidying up the garden and there is a big bag of garden waste for the tip tomorrow.

We had a lovely afternoon walk to the river. I can watch the water for hours. I climbed the big steps to the top of the Dock gates which were not designed for short people like me! I find climbing up easier than climbing down.

We had cold ham with baby potatoes and peas for dinner and I am ready for bed.

Good morning kitchen pals, didn’t get chance to post yesterday as we had DD2 here and the DGC most of the evening. DGS stayed over and I’m just back from the school run now
The sun is trying to come out so I’m hoping to get out into the garden for a while. There’s also lots of washing to hang out so hoping it stays dry
Jax hoping DH has spoken to a doctor and got something to help him recover
Your lawn sounds a bit like ours SueD with yellow bald patches - we’ve got a hand rake but also an electric rake that does the bigger patches really easily - it looks awful when it’s first done though but soon grows back - hopefully greener …

Nurse practioner at 10:50 brook after I sent in the econsult at 8:15 they rang before 9, efficient.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been drizzling all day here and quite mild. It feels rather muggy too. The paths are rather slippery so I haven’t been for a walk. In addition to daily physio I’ve been doing some quite punishing leg exercises designed to increase strength and improve stability. They must work because my legs feel like bits of cotton now!

Afterwards I had a lovely foot spa, now sat in t-shirt and shorts listening to a podcast about ancient Egypt. Last week I was wearing thermals and my Oodie awaiting the Baxi engineer to fix the boiler!

I am feeling pretty good at the moment, I’m loving the brighter mornings and lighter evenings. I have not fallen over for several weeks. Hope I’m not tempting fate … I avoid going anywhere on ‘wobbly head’ days, which is a bind but you just have to get on with things.

Hope MrJ’s appointment went well Jax. I’m so behind with the kitchen news, so will wish you all a peaceful evening.

Am zonked out after two days of the painter doing the kitchen and the new boiler being installed today - more of that to come tomorrow. So the combination of having workmen in and the size of the bill have both exhausted me. Good thing there is nothing I have to do other than continue to fight this virus!

Mr J has a sinus infection, so antibiotics, doxycycline and a cortisone nasal spray have been dispensed.
A quiet day on the voluntary phones, it does go in fits and starts
It’s been lightly drizzling nearly all day, cold here Blossoming a max of 9 earlier, so no shorts, I might have to put socks on.
I’m off to quiz later, our team will be lost without his music knowledge, never mind, apparently it’s the taking part that counts 🙂.

Poor MrJ. I hope he recovers quickly. I had a sinus infection earlier this year and it was horrible.

I’ve painted a bit more of the fence, mowed the lawn and done loads of washing today, just put a lasagne in the oven and now going for a shower
Tomorrow morning Ive got a volunteering session so need to prepare for that later
