I’m so sorry ladylfl, what a difficult situation.

Excellent news sued. What a relief.

Bathroom looks good jax. Hope the leak is sorted easily.

Think it’s harder when our loved ones are seriously ill than when we are ourselves. Love to all coping with it

Wish I’d stopped when my spoons ran out blossoming, I’m truly exhausted this evening.

Thinking of you all. Rest well.

Urmstongran Thu 02-May-24 21:56:20

Fantastic news SueDonim bet you are all on Cloud 9.
We too are awaiting important scan results. It’s a testing time ‘scanxiety’.
LLFL I really do feel for you. Adult children fall outs are horrible at the time, but with luck, pass.
No wonder it’s said ‘a mother can only be as happy as her unhappiest child’. Over the years I found this saying to be very true. Tears will fall. I hope they heal.

Llfl You will feel as if a lead weight is lodged in your chest. Come and spend quality time in the quiet corner. flowers

Jax You have an extremely smart bathroom. Our renovation is making progress. The walk-in shower looks very inviting. We are waiting for the hand-rail and towel rail to be fitted. The wash basin vanity unit is to be delivered early next week.

I have spent the entire day carefully packing the gifts to all the family members and sorting through countless photograph albums which we shall pass on. Not long to wait before we take to the road. Wow!

I did not sleep well last night. Apart from at least half a dozen wees, I was either too hot or too cold and my legs were restless. In fact, it was a buggeration with bells on. wink

So, dear Kitcheners, I shall make my way to my bed and read a chapter from the latest Rebus.

Wishing you all a good night's slumber. Thank you for your company. smile moon

Good morning all from Stockport.
I have been absent for a short time, not feeling well, feeling my age and generally down.
I have been reading though and feel for those down for multiple reasons, just like me.
Soop I sense your excitement at your forthcoming family get together and hope it all goes well.
A friend rang me yesterday to invite me to visit and stay with her in August.
She has a very busy life with a close family, church involvement and lots of very close friends.
I shall have to see how I feel nearer the time.
Great excitement here today, my GD’s best friend has gone into labour and my GD is her birth partner along with friend’s mum.
No father involvement but very supportive family and friends.
She decided to do it alone and is coping superbly.
Best wishes to all who don’t have such good times in their lives and very happy thoughts to those who do.
I can’t check back and my very ancient memory is failing but you know who you are,

Grandmabatty Fri 03-May-24 11:25:32

Good morning Kitcheners. * Annsixty* it's nice to hear from you. I hope you feel up to visiting your friend. Soop much sympathy. I regularly don't sleep well for a variety of reasons.
I've tidied the kitchen and walked to Aldi and back. I've done a quick hoover too. I'm waiting for dd and the boys to arrive after soft play. She's bringing me my dinner. 😊 Later, if it stays dry, I shall get into the garden and hoik out some brambles. My back is a bit twingy so I don't want to do too much. Enjoy your day all.

Blossoming Fri 03-May-24 12:08:44

Wonderful news SueD I hope your son continues to thrive.

Love the shower pic Jax

Blossoming Fri 03-May-24 12:12:56

Lovely to hear from you AnnSixty.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 03-May-24 17:38:16

Hello everyone. I’m still feeling blue - how could I not - but thank you for the kind words and PMs. It is good to be in this cosy kitchen.
I have had a busy day. I took a pile of books to a Charity shop, posted a birthday present to my great nephew in Melbourne (£18 postage!!!), and picked up my pearl necklace at the jeweller - they had to restring it and put on a new-fangled magnetic clasp. After lunch, I spent over two hours doing WI admin. I have told them that I will stand down as Secretary next year. I think 8 years is quite long enough, although my predecessor did it for 20 years!
OH is cooking tonight. I think it’s going to be a fry-up.
Have a good evening everyone, especially those with difficulties.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-May-24 18:04:25

After an entire day of persistent rain the sun is trying to come out.

I took myself to a big Sainsbury’s to mooch at the Habitat bedding and bits. I ended up buying two lots of bedding along with a big food shop.

Takeaway Chinese for dinner later which I am looking forward to.

soop I can feel your excitement through your posts.

Jaxjacky Fri 03-May-24 19:17:17

Hi kitcheners, good to hear from you ann have you been out and about on your scoot? I hope you feel able to go away with your friend.
I think you’ve definitely done ‘your bit’ llfl for the WI, time to just enjoy being a member.
Shower has been used, skip has gone from the front garden, bedroom thoroughly cleaned, its minded me to look at new bedding and curtains🙂.
An overcast day until about 5 when the sun came out, greenhouse seedlings are still in/out of the house.
Have a pleasant evening all.

Blossoming Fri 03-May-24 19:34:22

)Hope you haven’t overdone it Grandmabatty, back pain can be hard to shift. You must be over the moon Jax, it seems to have dragged on for ages.

I’ve been for a short walk, feeling tired today so am taking it easy. It’s been quite humid but it’s raining now and feeling much fresher.

Steam trains will be running for the next three days with various family activities taking place in the museum.

Wishing you all a good night ❤️

Grandmabatty Fri 03-May-24 20:04:55

Blossoming thank you. I've had a very productive day but I've been careful and worked in fifteen minute blocks. I've also rested my back frequently. So far, touch wood, it's ok.

brook2704 Fri 03-May-24 20:07:55

Hi to all kitchen pals, it’s been another gorgeous warm sunny day here in Inverness, we’ve been really lucky up here with the weather this week. We dropped DGD off at school, she wanted to try a new hairstyle this morning, hair swept all over to one side and then a plait just on the one side, apparently she’s been watching u-tube videos on hairstyles 🤦‍♀️. She’s off to her very first festival with her dad at the weekend - hope it stays dry for them.
Lovely to hear from you annsixty I hope the new baby has arrived safely
Take care with your back grandmabatty, it’s easy easy to do some damage when digging in the garden - with me it’s usually upper back / shoulder pain after raking and mowing
Hoping there’s a way forward llfl and your sons can resolve their differences when things have settled down
Well done Jax enjoy your new bathroom!

annsixty Fri 03-May-24 21:29:24

Good evening all.
Baby not arrived yet, progress was quite reasonable for a few hours but now slowed down slightly.
Still only 7 cm and an epidural has been administered which in my humble opinion can slow things down but I’m probably wrong.
Hope for more news when I wake up as I am in bed now and my GD won’t ring or text again until the morning.

annsixty Sat 04-May-24 09:56:22

No progress was made overnight so a lovely baby girl was delivered by c-section about 9am.
Mum has not had a good experience but all is well now.
If my GD wanted children, which she doesn’t, she is well and truly put off now.

soop Sat 04-May-24 13:03:05

annsixty Welcome to the world little person. sunshine
I hope that you feel able to spend time with your friend. Companionship can be the prescription you need to raise your spirits. I often benefit from socialising...even though I try to convince myself that "I want to be alone".

Another day dedicated to gathering together the gifts and keepsakes for the family gathering. wink

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 04-May-24 16:00:08

Hello kitchen people. Congratulations Ann. A new baby - such a delight.
I’m afraid I’m still feeling sad. I’m sitting quietly with one of the cats. We should have gone to Kew today to celebrate granddaughter’s 8th birthday. Her father decided to cancel due to the current difficult situation. I had a chat with my daughter today. She suggested some sort of family counselling for my sons. Mmm. I also had a WhatsApp exchange with younger son. He said he is feeling angrier than he was the other day!
We should have been going to a joint 50th party tomorrow but I’ve cancelled. I would have been the spectre at the feast. We’ve booked lunch out instead.
Have a good evening.

annsixty Sat 04-May-24 16:14:29

So sorry Lftl
Your sadness and distress over the family situation comes over strongly.
What a pity you are missing out on social occasions because of it.
We have to tell ourselves it is not of our making
and there is little we can do about it.
It will surely pass.

Baggs Sat 04-May-24 17:04:44

Total buggeration, Llfl! Warm wishes and hugs coming your way.

Blossoming Sat 04-May-24 17:54:06

How lovely AnnSixty ❤️

LadyLFL I feel so sad for you, I hope things cool down flowers

I’m not feeling too good today after a bad night. I’m no longer being sick but I feel washed out and I need some sleep 💤 Never mind, I have done very little today and will have an early night.

Wishing you all a peaceful night x

Jaxjacky Sat 04-May-24 18:48:22

Congratulations to mother and daughter ann, it sounds rather traumatic though.
I’m sorry llfl you have a cloud hanging over you, time should mend the relationship, but that doesn’t help you now, I’m thinking of you.
Oh Blossoming you’ve had such a good run, fingers crossed tomorrow is a better day.
It’s been glorious here today, washing all dried outside, greenhouse activity is increasing and nesting birds are busy. We spent the afternoon however indoors with a friend, my daughter and grandson watching an important football game, my team beat MrJ’s, play offs now.
Greenhouse watered, dry washing (never called ironing) is in and dinner is planned.
Grandmabatty I hope your back is behaving.
Enjoy your evening.

brook2704 Sat 04-May-24 18:49:14

Welcome to the new baby girl annsixty so kind of your GD to be her birth partner, such a special thing to do for her best friend
Llfl such a sad situation, I hope things improve with time ❤️
We’ve had a good long walk on the beach today, it was quite cloudy though with a bit of a sea breeze. Didn’t take my coat off but we enjoyed the walk
Hope you feel better soon blossoming, take care x
