I’ve been so busy I’ve only just now had a chance to look at Soop’s lovely photos. A family to be proud of! I hope the AB’s are kicking in now and seeing off the bronchitis.

Ive read all your posts though haven’t time to comment but I’m thinking of you all, as usual.

My activities are too numerous to relate as well but I think you might all enjoy this little tale! Dh and I were babysitting the two GC from teatime on, as dad was still at work and mum was at a meeting. For convenience, I’d bought ready meals for Dh and me to have after the children had been fed and bathed.

I popped dh’s food into the microwave and about halfway through there was a smell of burning. I thought maybe I’d done something wrong with the MW so opened the door to check. All seemed normal, no sign of anything burning so I thought maybe the smell was from outside (lovely day, BBQ’s etc).

Just as I went to close the MW door something caught my eye inside. I looked more closely and there was a pair of my granddaughter’s socks, rather crispy and definitely cooked!!! 😂 They smartly got thrown out into the garden to cool down. We are all blaming the young master in the household. grin

Good evening all.
Rather late but I have just come to bed to catch up.
Soop so sorry you are not well, get well soon and do as you are told, just rest.
Grannmarie nice to hear from you, I hope your family are soon not causing you worry.
Brooke I have been there twice with both my adult children and it is such hard work and mentally draining, I wish you well.
To all of you working so hard with childcare, gardening, house cleaning and having work done, I send commiserations.
I have decided enough is enough for myself and have told my family that getting the house ready for the market is up to them now.
They can get off their backsides and do it now when I will pick up the cost or they can do it when I am gone and pay for it out of their inheritance.
It is entirely up to them.

Very discombobulating morning.
My friend across the road and I had arranged to go to the funeral of an old neighbour, he and his wife moved nearly three years ago and after being very friendly and quite close really, never got in touch after they moved.
We didn’t even know where they were.
Well another friend told us of his death, he was 89, and we arranged to pay our respects.
I got up early, got already and when we got to the church my friend had got the time wrong and the service was half way through.
She refused to go in and sit at the back so we just came home.
I feel sad and frustrated and a feeling of a task not completed.
His wife has some dementia so I don’t know how to proceed.
I think I must just let it go but it does not settle with me.

I will try to sleep now, I hope to get my drive and patio clear of weeds tomorrow.
I shall be supervising only.
Sleep well everyone.

cornergran Fri 17-May-24 21:54:26

So pleased you’re having treatment soop. Rest and recover time now I think.

There are a lot of busy folk here, I feel very inadequate!

About to head for bed. Goodnight all - sleep well.

Grannmarie Fri 17-May-24 20:38:12

Dear Soop, so sorry to hear that.
I was going to prescribe you a very generous hot toddy ( purely medicinal of course) with lots of honey and lemon, but then I thought you cant have that with antibiotics, what a shame. Sending you lots of non alcoholic TLC.
Nannytopsy, 👋, I'm exhausted just reading that! I hope you have a restful weekend.
Jaxjacky, good luck to Imogen, Fin and all GC sitting exams. DGS1 is sitting his Highers.
GrannySomerset, I think IKWYM, it's like 'use it or lose it' ? Maybe when you begin, it will all come back to you. 🤞
Hello 👋, Grannygravy, hope your wee Imp is on the mend, poor wee sojer.
Grandmabatty, enjoy your Chinese takeaway, you've certainly earned it this week. I've opened the Sauvingon Blanc, after brushing kiln dried sand into my nice clean monobloc...tricky job! We've had lovely, sunny weather today, hope brook and all the gardeners have enjoyed similar.

brook2704 Fri 17-May-24 20:27:42

Hoping you soon feel a bit better soop have lots of rest ❤️
We’re just in from DD2s, we were unexpectedly invited round for our tea at the last minute, so that was lovely. She’s having a bit of a tough time just now, she’s splitting up with her partner so that’s having an impact - I think I’m just a sounding board really but I don’t mind if it helps.
Well done to your DGS for enjoying nursery so much grandmabatty - exciting days ahead for him!
Goodness me nannytopsy you’ve been busy! All sounds good though and hope you get a date for your knee soon
Hope Imogen and Fin can relax over the weekend Jax
Take care all and enjoy the weekend x

Nannytopsy Fri 17-May-24 20:03:13

Oh my days! You lot have been so busy!
soop what a wonderful weekend and lovely photos but so sorry that you are poorly. Get well soon!
This week has been madness
Saturday Churchyard blitz
Sunday day off
Monday school run and choir
Tuesday Church annual meeting. I am PCC secretary. We need a new roof - somewhere north of £100 000.
Wednesday School run, DH birthday, young part of family for a birthday tea
Thursday on duty at village charity cafe, then parish council meeting.
Today - a day off except for checking church for a wedding tomorrow and lots of ironing.
Tomorrow - open up for the wedding!
Still no date for my knee but it is really letting me know all is not well now. Please let the hospital come up with a date soon!
I hope things are a bit quieter next week 🤞
Hugs to you all!

Jaxjacky Fri 17-May-24 14:17:08

Afternoon kitcheners, a busy day yesterday culminating in an exciting football game, MrJ is pleased his team won, mine play tonight, Fin is coming to watch too.
So sorry you’re poorly soop you’ve had speedy treatment, I hope it does the job. I’m sure it’ll all come back GrannySomerset 🤞
I picked Imogen up earlier, Chemistry GCSE this morning, Fin finished SATS yesterday, the school, where his Mum, (my daughter) works, laid on an ice cream van as a treat. I don’t remember anything like that many moons ago!

GrannySomerset Fri 17-May-24 13:33:11

Rotten luck, Soop, hope the drugs work quickly and you soon feel better. Lovely pictures of your very busy weekend. Just psyching myself up for a lesson on how to put together the parish magazine and am worried that I simply won’t cope. I used to find technical stuff pretty easy but I have been out of the loop so long that I fear that part of my brain has atrophied.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-May-24 13:20:24

soop beautiful photos of a beautiful family 🥰

So sorry to learn you have bronchitis, rest, take your meds and hopefully you will be back in this kitchen soon 😘

Grandmabatty Fri 17-May-24 12:55:28

All the best Soop. Lots of rest.
Dgs2 went to look round the play group and was initially very shy. The vast range of toys changed his mind and he was desperate for me to see them all and play with him. He howled when we left so that augurs well for starting next Wednesday. I have two washes out, I've watered all the plants that need it, hoovered, polished, cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom and then the play group visit. Dd and dgs2 are away home now and I'm about to have lunch. I'll wash floors later then do some art. I'm looking forward to my Chinese takeaway later, courtesy of Dsil. A very nice Friday. Enjoy your day.

soop Fri 17-May-24 12:42:26

Hello to You lovely lot.

GP has diagnosed full blown bronchitis. Doxycycline prescribed. I feel sick and have decided to rest up until I am better.

My love and best wishes to all of you with problems to bear.

BYE for now. X

Grannmarie Fri 17-May-24 12:03:39

Hello 👋 to everyone in Soop's Kitchen!

Thank you, brook.🥰 I'm sure your DGD enjoyed her sleepover.

Beautiful photos, Soop, memories to cherish. Thanks for sharing. I hope you and MrSoop are feeling a bit better today.

Grandmabatty, I hope you have your feet up today, yoy have earned yourself a very relaxing weekend!

YiaYia, enjoy your DGS's birthday meal, hope your hands are a bit more comfortable today.

Blossoming, your chairs look amazing, so stylish but I'm sure they'll be very comfortable too.

Hope you got some sleep, Cornergran. 😴

Ladyleftfieldlover, I'm sorry to read that the Queen Bee has gone AWOL. Is she likely to return, like a homing pigeon?🤞

I caught up with friends yesterday, I hadn't seen them for weeks because of recent events, so it was good to see them and resume a bit of normality...is that a word?🤣

Today, I'm going to tidy up a bit in the garden, make the most of the sunshine. ☀

Tomorrow DH and I are going to the cemetery with flowers for our recently deceased friend's grave, on the occasion of her 70th birthday. Then we will visit her housebound daughter, with flowers for her and her sister. So sad.

Wishing everyone a good weekend, thinking of you all, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Take care.

brook2704 Thu 16-May-24 21:41:04

Meant to say I hope you’re feeling much better tomorrow soop
I don’t know anything about bee keeping llfl but hope all is ok with the bees
Thank you corner, I’m used to travelling alone and it luckily it doesn't bother me - I can’t say I enjoy travelling but it’s always worth the effort when I get there!

brook2704 Thu 16-May-24 21:31:36

Lovely photos soop thanks for sharing your happy family memories with us all here
I’ve had a busy day, DD2 came round for a chat this morning and then we’ve been ferrying DGD to and from after school activities since mid afternoon. She’s staying for an sleepover and has eventually just gone to bed, she doesn’t seem tired - not like me!
Well done grandmabatty you definitely deserve some quiet time for yourself - enjoy!
Happy 15th Birthday to your DGS Yia 🎉🎂
Thinking of grannmarie 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 16-May-24 21:18:45

What beautiful photos Soop of a beautiful family! I hope you’re feeling better now.
I attended a U3A lecture on Klimt’s landscapes this afternoon. The lecturer was a Mathematician in a previous existence but after retirement decided to take up Art History! A couple of years ago my daughter and I went to Vienna and went to the Belvedere where loads of Klimt are. I preferred the landscapes to his portraits.
OU is still fussing about his bees. They swarmed yesterday. Most of them returned to the hive but now the Queen is missing.
Have a good evening - I hope this flipping rain will stop soon!

Blossoming Thu 16-May-24 17:12:47

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Another full on day here. Had a good catch up with my financial advisor, a lovely lady and happy to answer any questions. Plans are coming along nicely for future home improvements, now I need to start getting quotes. It really tires me though. I’ve been in touch with a highly recommended chap to come and look at the en-suite shower room, the shower is leaking into the cloakroom underneath so that’s the first job on my list.

MrB took the car for its first MOT, doesn’t seem like 3 years since we bought it.

I still have loads to do but I’m running on empty so it can all wait until tomorrow.

I hope you have had some sleep Cornergran, I didn’t want to get up this morning!

Lovely photos Soop, I hope that nasty cough and breathing problem is feeling a bit better.

Happy Birthday to your GS Yiayia, where do those years go? Sorry you’re in pain.

Love and best wishes to you all ❤️

Grandmabatty Thu 16-May-24 17:09:56

You have a very attractive family Soop. Good genes!!! Yiayia that's rotten for you. I have foot and leg pain from peripheral neuropathy and that can be so painful too.
Today was the last of the childcare days until Monday. I am very tired and have tidying up to do. Then I'm definitely having a little drink. I am honoured to be part of their lives but I need to have a little quiet time. Chilli and pitta bread for dinner later. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Yiayia4 Thu 16-May-24 15:24:37

Lovely photos Soop so pleased you had a great time but, please look after yourself.🌹
Today is GS3’s 15th birthday I feel so old.We are going to his favourite restaurant tomorrow Smith and Western the boys all love it you can imagine the theme! In a lot of pain with arthritis in my hands at the moment,it can go and do one.😖
Have a nice day everyone.

soop Thu 16-May-24 15:06:32

Bless you all for your lovely comments.

When I awoke this morning, I could not speak. The congestion in my lungs and throat was rattling away and sounded somewhat alarming. I remained in bed until lunchtime. A few years ago, I had a cough very like this and, it progressed to pneumonia. I spent twelve days in hospital on an anti-biotic drip. At that time, Baggs was kind enough to visit me.

I have a handful of photos to share with you. I trust that you won't have a mega attack of boredom as a result. hmm

Sweetie Pie had a banquet of a breakfast this morning. I was asleep at the time.

mrshat Thu 16-May-24 12:34:58

Lovely happy photograph soop. So pleased you had a wonderful time and hope your fall has not left any lasting damage.

gillgran Thu 16-May-24 10:38:02

Lovely, happy family photo soop. Family gatherings are my favourites, lots of good memories.
Another one for you too brook.

After last weeks warm, dry & sunny weather, we're unsettled now, here in East Anglia. Although our garden will be fresher after the rain.

Warm thoughts for you all.

cornergran Thu 16-May-24 01:07:05

What a happy photo soop. One to treasure and how kind of your family to send you a whole book of memories. Please try to remain upright, as we mature it seems we don’t bounce smile. Hope that bug disappears very soon. I think this weeks driver award surely must go to mr soop. That was quite a distance.

Hope you have the same reaction to your covid jab as we did grannysomerset - nothing other than a very slightly achey arm.

I share your frustration with the mountains of paper that arrive blossoming. It seems a never ending chore.

Pleased you’re home safely brook. I’ve never flown alone and find the thought quite daunting.

You’ll need a rest after this week grandmab. You’re working more than hard to keep those little boys happy.

That’s a very pretty border ladylfl. Our ceanothus is huge and is currently showering the garden and us with mauve as the blooms fade.

I truly should be asleep. It seems elusive at the moment but I will say goodnight everyone, sleep tight.

Llamas99 Wed 15-May-24 22:48:59

Soop, a lovely family you have! And adorable little ones! Hope your fall did no harm and at least there was no audience. My son took me to a government building a few weeks ago. He was holding my arm as we went up some stairs outside, people standing around inside and out. I managed to fall UP the stairs
Once was not enough so I did it again! I wanted to take a bow!
