Return of the Granny trolley!

Has anyone test-driven a trolley that can be pushed rather than pulled? Is there anything obvious against them?

I’m never saying never but please, please , if you use one remember other people. I’ve been tripped up by them and had them bashed into my legs. Especially annoying in crowded places.

At one point I was developing a fleet .
I had an old scruffy one that I took to the allotment with the strimmer in it and another that was insulated to shop with and carry iced drinks to DGDs concerts.

My shopping trolley has her own name and is known locally she is brightly coloured and goes by the name of Delores,she hangs quietly on the hook on my supermarket trolley until she is required to drag my shopping home.

I never thought I would resort to having a shopping companion until my ageing car collapsed and died,but she has proved her worth bless her.😀

Before they were called granny trollies they were known as Cheltenham carts….those were the woven baskets with a walking stick type handle.

Oh midgey I had forgotten that I used to have one of those in my 20's - no car so it made the shopping much easier. The children used to like having a ride in it too!

Probably an excellent idea but I hope the users keep them clear of people's ankles and calves. In Waitrose yesterday a woman had attached hers to the back of a shopping trolley, the executed a sudden sweep at the end of an aisle and caught an unwary shopper with her attached trolley.

They are are great would not be without mine. There are so many pretty ones out there now so no need to feel like a Grannie!

I have one in Málaga - bottled water is HEAVY! Although inexpensive at 25 cents for 1.5 litres.

Well I CAN carry my stuff if I want to but much better to pull it Younger people use them here They used to be called ‘grannytrollies’ but they don’t seem to be called that now
I said I d never have one but I love mine now and wouldn’t be without it I have flamingos too Freya it is so much easier and as I can knock the socks off what I carry and lift and do at work, I have no inflated pride about using one

I thought the heading was referring to a Hostess Trolley - called a 'Hot Trolley' here. Couldn't do without mine.

I hope these people who wouldn't be seen dead with an "old lady" trolley never need "old lady" crutches for a broken leg. They will be too embarrassed to set foot outside the front door!

How lucky they are to either -
1) have a car
2) live very near a shop/supermarket, and on level ground with no hills
3) have superstrong back, leg, arm and shoulder muscles
or
4) order everything online for home delivery ( a minimum shop of £50 an order, or another £5 is added)

I'm not sure why they're called granny trolleys. I had one in my 20s. Neither of us could drive and there was no online shopping then.

One of my friends has had one of those since she was in her twenties.

I’ve seen a lot of very attractive ones, used by relatively young women. But it’s all right for them - they are young! I can’t bring myself (yet) to buy anything with such old-lady connotations. (Daft, I know.)

But so far, touch wood, I don’t have trouble carrying shopping bags, and if I’m really going to buy a lot of heavy stuff (rare nowadays) I take the car.

Usually it’s a case of a 20 minute walk down, get the bus back. (uphill).

There's a prejudice about using granny trollies .
I can't manage without one .
I've had several .
One of my friends always makes fun of my trollies .
According to her , I'll never attract a man !
Well , I don't seem to have much trouble !
She intimidated me into not using one and I had back pain for a week .

I was given a Sholley as a much wanted and appreciated Easter present .

I had one when I was at college in the sixties, we had to move between buildings and backpacks weren’t around then. I ran over a woman toes with it and as I turned to apologise I ran over her friend’s feet!

I use mine to carry all my art stuff to the studio, but as I'm tall I wish they made the handle a bit higher.. any suggestions?

I don't play bowls yet, but I could carry my shoes etc in it

|I use a granny trolley, otherwise I WOULD FALL My balance has completely gone, one of the practalities of AMD. The other not one is Alzheimers disease. I hope I don't get Alzhemers disease.

As long as I can carry my shopping I will, I don’t drive, but live five minutes away from the supermarket..

I saw a young man probably very early twenties in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago who had a very smart black one and I thought how sensible if he has to carry all his shopping. I didn't know their user base was widening so much, but far better for shoulders and backs.
Glorianny I think it probably is a case of needing to find one with the right height and balance for yourself. My mum had one years ago and I could never pull it along without it twisting around and being more of a hazard, yet she had no problem.
