I wouldn't pay 1p, why would I line the royal pockets when our taxes already subsidise the 14 homes of which they have the pick?

Mabon1 you would not be lining royal pockets. The money raised is for the upkeep of this castle and grounds, and for the salaries of the many people employed to facilitate this upkeep.

A spa day would cost as much as the premium price yet plenty of people enjoy those, including me! You have to pay for the pleasures in your life.
Comments re the public purse already paying etc are irrelevant - the monarchy, their palaces and pageantry etc draw admiration (and tourists) from all over the world, which boosts our economy, so we all benefit indirectly, and as for the monarchy not paying death duties etc, the cost would be crippling - even for them! The monarchy is one asset we have which cannot be bought up by China etc. Lets keep it that way!

Regular tickets are £17.50 per adult.
Family tickets are £38 - for two adults and 3 children up to age 16.
The tour is of the entire castle.

Castle interior tours currently sold out, are £100 pp, too expensive for me and DH, especially taking into account the cost of travel and overnight stays.

Anyone interested in the royal family have you visited Osborne house on the IOW? It's beautiful and so interesting. NT owned as far as I know? I've been once a few years ago.

Several years ago late DH and I thoroughly enjoyed our day at Buckingham Palace. The paintings alone were worth the entrance fee which was around £60 each if I am not mistaken.

Have been to art gallery in Buckingham Palace, and attended a garden party there. Was invited to Highgrove and was invited by Camilla to have a cuppa in Llwynywermod, my car had broken down. Would Balmoral be too private, the Queen loved

What a scam. Charging for visitors is simply offloading the maintenance costs of a private house onto gullible members of the public.

You assumed the house was part of the crown estate, when it has always been clearly in the public domain that this house, like Sandringham, The castle of Mey and Highgrove are private houses and have nothing to do with the state and then you give misleading top of the range deluxe prices and either didn't point out or didn't bother to check whether there were cheaper options.

It's English Heritage. We took my Dad there last August Bank Holiday, it's really lovely.
There was a traditional Punch and Judy show down on the private beach!

Watch out for the midges, even Balmoral can't escape them.
