This film has just landed on Netflix...shall watch as Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, Keeley Hawes, Amanda Redman and Rufus Sewell are great actors....so should be interesting!

Well, Emily Maitlis is producing a three-part series to be shown later this year so that those of you who so clearly revel in watching this trash have even more to look forward to.

😂😂😂 Each to his or her own!

Sometimes it’s good to watch a bit of gossipy “trash”. However as this is based on the behaviour of the UK’s most powerful family it does interest many people. I always find it particularly interesting how some people utterly vilify Harry, (not suggesting he’s in any way perfect), but seem to accept Andrew’s life of royal leisure with his most questionable friends and “pastimes”

I enjoyed it, the actor who played Andrew was very good and looked pretty similar to him. Showed what a dopey dick Andrew is which I tend to think is accurate.

Anniebach Sun 07-Apr-24 11:43:32

Not based on the behaviour of a family but on one man

Iam64 Sun 07-Apr-24 13:23:51

Of course his behaviour and the response of his family is of interest .
I agree with you Cossy, the different response to Andrew and Harry is a curiosity

His behaviour yes, response of his family no

Granniesunite Sun 07-Apr-24 14:09:50

Yes cossy I just can’t understand the difference in the attitudes to these two guys.

Andrew remained friends with a convicted criminal socialising and visiting him til the media pointed it out.

No matter how hard his team tried to “spin” it, it was a shocking realisation of just how detached this man was to what was right and what was wrong.

That in my mind was his downfall.

Anniebach Sun 07-Apr-24 14:31:11

Andrew does not public appearances, he cannot be blamed for being photographed going to church or riding a horse. No way
is he spoken of with any respect

Harry lies and many dislike liars , he makes many public appearances

I thought it was very well done, and I actually watched the ‘real’ interview again, and he did come across as an arrogant and unattractive individual, but then I wondered if he could be telling the truth! Of course, the bit about the sweating was nonsense, but I suppose Epstein could have hidden things if, as Andrew claimed, he didn’t see much of him. I did find Virginia Roberts another unattractive person, and wondered if her lawyers advised her to mention Andrew, as they would know that his lawyers would probably advise him to settle, as they wouldn’t want to chance any other stuff coming out in court. To me the photo did look odd, so I suppose anything’s possible.
I had also wondered why none of the Pizza Express staff had ever come out on social media or the tabloids, but he only said he had ‘taken’ his daughter to a party there.
Of course, his insistence that his contact with Epstein was mainly because of Ghislaine Maxwell hasn’t turned out too well!

Daddima Where were Andrew's security guys? Surely they could have verified his whereabouts re Pizza Express?

I suppose they’re bound by the ‘ never explain’ bit. Or else……

Parsley3 Sun 07-Apr-24 15:31:23

Airlines Andy aka Randy Andy aka Prince Andrew certainly made a name for himself when he was allowed to make public appearances. It is hard to speak of him with respect when he hasn't earned any. He is not adverse to varying his recollections either.

Iam64 Sun 07-Apr-24 18:24:26

Daddima - it seems clear no one could have spent any time with Epstein And Maxwell without realising what was happening
The photographer outdd so use his nyc house talked about young girls arriving and leaving an hour later
You may find VRiberys ‘an unattractive person’. That is often said of other young women and men sexually exploited by older people

Epstein's properties - particularly the one in Manhattan were full of erotic pictures - mostly of nubile young girls. Girls were in and out of that property practically all day long. Given PA stayed there on a number of occasions I fail to see how he could not have known, or at least suspected, what was going on.

The Pizza Express story is laughable - as someone has already said, the staff or his security team could have verified - and anyway - if he was there around 4 or 5 that hardly stops him being at Tramp later in the evening.

Jeffrey Epstein - Filthy Rich on Netflix is a good watch for putting it into context, ditto the Netflix programme about Ghislaine Maxwell

Iam64 Sun 07-Apr-24 18:45:32

ferry21 - I agree Filthy Rich is excellent. James Patterson was on it as were other neighbours i Florida. Epstein convicted but allowed out of jail - corruption

A great example of "it's not what you know, it's who you know".

Until it gets to the stage that those he "knew" went running for the hills when the doo doo hit the fan.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 07-Apr-24 21:57:01

I always remember the Principal at the Oxford College where I worked saying that it wasn’t who you know, but what you knew about who you know. Or words to that effect.

BigBertha1 Sun 07-Apr-24 22:40:28

I enjoyed it but what a waste of Rufus Sewell

Jaffacake2 Mon 08-Apr-24 09:01:44

If you just watch the Netflix drama you may think it is unbelievable and disrespectful to Prince Andrew. But if you also watch the original interview you will see that it contains a lot of his original words. I found his arrogance and self importance disgraceful. The Queen must have been so disappointed with him.
Another thought from a Surrey resident ,who on earth would want to go to Woking for a pizza ?!!!

Anniebach Mon 08-Apr-24 09:44:44

I don’t watch Netflix so didn’t see the drama, why Andrew in a bath ? The original interview showed the man

merlotgran Mon 08-Apr-24 10:28:09

I could never understand why the Queen gave the green light for the interview to go ahead in the first place.

Parsley3 Mon 08-Apr-24 10:29:18

The Queen was indeed disappointed in him Jaffacake because she took away his HRH title and other privileges. I assume that his family are subbing him these days as he has had no gainful employment for years now.
I must admit that the bare bum at the end of the drama was a bit superfluous as he had already made an a@@@ of himself in the original interview for all to see.

I don't if what was shown on netflix was entirely accurate but it suggested she hadn't given permission and she was away at the time

I must admit I am blown away with some of what was shown. The maid and the teddy bears confused

JaneJudge Tue 09-Apr-24 11:37:56

hollysteers

Bit of a yawnfest, but good acting from Sewell and Anderson.
Plenty of smugness emanating from the journalists and the cute family set ups with Sam rather irritating.
I think Sewell has done PA a favour, he comes across as so stupid, I believe his innocence.

this made me laugh! he did paint him as childlike daft

Jaffacake2 Tue 09-Apr-24 14:42:22

Smile and laugh at Prince Andrew The Musical channel 5 !!

Jaffacake2 Tue 09-Apr-24 14:59:40

Sorry it's on channel 4

Bea65 Thu 11-Apr-24 12:18:55

JaneJudge yes berating the maid was too much ..have such contempt for this man...

JustMe Thu 11-Apr-24 12:34:14

I thought it was really good and showed strong women! Gillian Anderson was excellent as Emily Maitlis, at times I was thinking it was Emily herself!
I also thought Rufus Sewell was good in that he only slightly exaggerated Andrew's mannerisms and all round oaf like behaviour so it was very believable. I remember the original interview and texting my friend during it with a lot of OMG's and what the actual's! We knew we were watching something very defining.
Am now looking forward to the three parter on Amazon directed by Emily Maitlis herself.
