Am I alone in finding the woman in the new ads totally annoying?

Barbadosbelle Mon 15-Apr-24 14:58:10

.

I don't know about the model being annoying (she's only 'obeying orders' after all) but clicking on the link I found the advertisement to be incredibly boring.

Bring back the marketing team behind the Twiggy ads, says I! They were brilliant and showed the clothes to perfection.

Mojack26 Mon 15-Apr-24 15:39:36

Hate the ad...have to mute

cc Mon 15-Apr-24 16:25:24

Yes, I find her extremely irritating too, I think it's the worst M&S ad they've ever made, it really sets my teeth on edge.

There is a feedback button on the same page as the advertiseent (the OP has given the page link a couple of posts after the start) I suggest that you feedback that you hate the ad!

Elegran Mon 15-Apr-24 16:35:51

The model is cavorting about in the ad las though she is 6 years ols (if that) The expression on the face of one of the women in the lift says it all.

Elegran Mon 15-Apr-24 16:38:53

More than one - one is scornfully amused at her exhibitionism, another is just bored with the whole performance.
I know just how they feel!

The ad has great music, it’s fun and I love watching it. I’m fed up with boring, woke ads, often I’ve no idea what they’re selling. Well done M&S, great ad and some lovely clothes in your stores.

Casdon Mon 15-Apr-24 17:18:14

The thing is, two or three years ago it was ‘Love the ad, hate the clothes’, now it’s the other way round. The clothes are so much better that I don’t care how they advertise them. I’m not wearing the advert, after all.

Pippa22 Mon 15-Apr-24 17:53:01

I’m 5’ 5” and bought a pair of Marks wide leg trousers in short length and they were too long ! Obviously took them back so that’s a sale that didn’t materialise as there won’t be any trousers for me there.

foxie48 Mon 15-Apr-24 18:14:28

The ad made me go to the website and I ordered some shorts and would have ordered a beautiful midi skirt but it was sold out in the colour I wanted. I love ordering online and popping into my local shop to pick it up, the range of clothing is brilliant. My local M&S is quite small so has a limited range tbh I don't mind the ad, it's quirky, not aimed at my age profile but I liked the clothes.

I don’t think I’m the target market, having entered the ‘can I get away with comfy maternity trousers’ at 70 stage. 🙂

I must admit to not seeing the TV advert but I have brought at least 4/5 pairs of trousers & jeans from M&S since Christmas . I find them to be fine in length it’s the actual sizing ie 14-16 etc that proves an issue as different styles come up differently, having brought 2 pairs of the same style in the same size they both fitted differently 🤔
That apart , not sure who the 40 year old women are who shop in M&S certainly not my DD’s 51 & 49 underwear apart that is .

Blossoming Mon 15-Apr-24 19:23:27

I like it, it cheers me up!

Parsley3 Mon 15-Apr-24 19:27:51

Call me an eejit but I didn't realise that there was music with the ad. I have been watching it without and it made no sense at all but with the music I now understand the shenanigans and I quite like it.

What on earth is a woke ad? I'd be so happy if I could find something to fit me and looked good.
Do you remember St Michael, now that was built to last.

i had read on facebook that they are trying to appeal to younger women.

from m&s

The campaign's two 30 second TVC stars actress and model Sara Sampaio turning her world into a personal catwalk - confidently and playfully bringing-to-life the style and versatility of the new womenswear Spring collection while lip-synching to Cyndi Lauper's infectious pop track “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
i would rather this advert than some of the other more annoying one's on tv at the moment.

Bumface Tue 16-Apr-24 10:11:54

I totally agree. The advert is so wrong and annoying on so many levels. Firstly, I want to slap the woman who wags around like a complete plonker. Secondly, is this the way young career women want to be portrayed? Thirdly, I am surprised that John Cleese hasn't filed a plagiarism case on behalf of the Ministry of Silly Walks. In short, the ad is toe curlingly unfunny, the clothes on display become irrelevant among all the silliness and posturing. It is offensive and makes me (and possibly many others) want to boycott M&S.

RosiesMaw Tue 16-Apr-24 10:35:47

The ad may not appeal but their styling last season AW and this is several notches up on previous years
Isn’t that what matters?

Jennajim Tue 16-Apr-24 11:31:32

Oh it's great, makes you want to get up and dance with her. (If only)

ufix1 I have to take steroids every three weeks alongside my chemo treatment. Unfortunately I’m having awful problems with them. I go almost manic, can’t retain information and generally feel bonkers. I asked my sarcoma nurse about it as I was worried that I have dementia. She assured me that it’s common for people on chemo to hallucinate and experience paranoia 😵‍💫 the weight gain and effects on my glucose levels are the icing on the cake! Last week I bought two pairs of summer trousers both size 14 short. One pair is okay but the other pair had to be taken up by two inches. The sizing is very inconsistent.

Marydoll Tue 16-Apr-24 20:01:52

Ikiesgranma, I experienced paranoia on high doses of steroids many years ago, they also cause weight gain. Add that to my PND. It was a time in my life, I try to forget.

I call them the curse of the devil, but they kept me alive!

Nearly ALL adverts irritate me these days!

Oh me too!! I don’t mind being labelled as a grumpy old woman!

I echo your post, DH is avoiding any confrontation with me at the moment.

Unfortunately for him, we are at a partially confrontational stage with our building work…
