Not hot choc or the leccy blanket, I’m talking about the sort of rosy cloud that can settle on your head at a particular memory or picture or anecdote. The opposite of a black dog on your shoulders.
For me it’s a surprise WhatsApp pic of a grandchild for instance - or the memory of SIL encouraging littlest fella ( 2 1/2) to “Say bye bye to Granny” recently as I took my leave.
“I bye byed Granny ALWEDDY” he protested (true)- just made us all laugh!

When I put the key in the door of my little flat. I get a thrill as I love living here and it's the 1st time in my life that I've ever had a home that is just mine.😊

Ahhh enjoy 😊

All my family, brother, sister, daughter and their families all together warms my heart. My grandchildren staying with me giving me lots of hugs. My little dog that I got after my husband died, that has got me up and out at 7.30am for walkies in the park where I have met some lovely people and their doggies. Feel so blessed.

I am very blessed to have family close by and can identify with many of these posts. But the other evening I was at a bible study and we were asked to pray for each other. A friend thanked God for me and described me as generous. This gave me a very warm feeling that I was viewed as generous - it really touched me and I keep thinking about it.

My 9 year old grandson has a gift for the piano. I could listen to him all day. He is possessed by the music. It feels miraculous to me.

Mine used to be when my husband was still alive and I heard him opening the front door after coming home from work. I have not had a warm feeling since he died.

I used to love hearing my late DH's key in the door. I sometimes still "hear" it and then realise it's just my imagination.

travelsafar, I'm so glad you've now got your very own home.

Many years ago, when I still lived in Brighton, I walked down to the seafront with me then tiny daughter. As we looked out at the sad remains of the West Pier a huge flock of starlings, I believe this is called a murmuration, flew out and began wheeling about the sky forming, ever changing, swirling patterns.

When I am walking with one of my granddaughters and I quietly feel their little hand finding mine - no words

I have grandchildren of my own, but when my step grandson looked at me with great gravity and told me he felt so lucky to have me as a grandma - that melted my heart. He has ADHD and is not easy to get along with, so it was extra special.

Lucky you

Another vote for grandchildren. The littlest one is nearly 3 and he always looks so pleased to see us and rushes to give you an enormous hug. We look after him one day a week and the things he says and does keep us smiling all weeek

Like you, it's a Grandchild memory that gives me a really warm feeling. When my GD was born she was only home for about 2 hours when she was blue lighted to emergency because she kept stopping breathing.

On day 6 at the hospital a nurse looked at me and asked if I had held the baby yet. The photo of her in my arms with all the tubes etc makes me feel very warm indeed because she is now a healthy 17 year old doing all the normal things 17 year olds do.

Our two daughters crying with laughter together at something silly. They’re very different characters but have the same sense of humour.

Grandchildren’s hugs.

Hearing a skylark.

Seeing the first snowdrops.

Climbing into my comfortable warm bed on a winter’s night.

The first day that it’s warm enough to sit in the garden.

Through the charity for which I volunteer, I have a befriended child. It gave me a,warm feeling to receive from her and her mother my only Easter egg.
They have very little and I have so much.

My husband when he comes in from work and gives me hugs

I feel incredibly fortunate to have grandchildren and adult children within reasonable distance- but posts like this do worry me because I know there are many people who aren’t so lucky.
I have some close friends who, for whatever reason, never had children and I love to share country walks, theatre visits, lunches out, afternoon tea etc, with them!
I have dogs too- and they are often less hard work than the grandkids are!
Sorry to be a killjoy!

Grandchildren and pets seem to cause good warm feelings!
Like when my 2 year old grand daughter finally climbed onto my lap when I was looking after her for a morning. She's very very Mummy-oriented and doesn't know me very well so I felt a terrific warm feeling.
Then I got an extra warm feeling on my leg and realised that her nappy had leaked.

😂😂

Being blessed with a beautiful family. Truly appreciating what I have in them.

Lovely warm feeling this morning when I was hanging out washing on the line - blue skies, warm sunshine and the birds were singing their hearts out.

Some life changing family permanent things have happened since 2022 so been in a bad place. I got myself 2 little rescue dogs last November and after about one month settling in they have brought me heart warming moments and everyday on waking up they fill my life with complete love sometimes only which a pet can bring.

when I'm havig a cleanout, and come across the photo albums I have to stop and look through all the photos of the GC over the years, the cleanout never gets finished, I could spend hours looking at the past..

Children and grandchildren all together! Nothing beats that.

Cagsy Thu 18-Apr-24 12:00:36

Oh RunaroundSue I am so sorry that life seems void of warm feelings for you, sending hopes that some return , even if only lukewarm flowers

Tamayra Thu 18-Apr-24 11:44:12

I remember that too
Oh how we miss them 💗💗
