Sick of celebrities

I realise I sounded a bit short! Sorry, it wasn't meant to be, I just knew immediately who she was because she always used to be on the tv.

Sorry Callistemon, I was vaguely aware of her, I suppose I should have said not in the Elizabeth Taylor category. Back then if my memory serves me well. It was broken down into Film stars, stage actors, TV actors. At least they were famous for something recognisable unlike some of the reality show non entities we have today.

Apparently Cumberbatch's drama teacher thought he was the best schoolboy actor he had ever seen, but interestingly he firmly advised him against an acting career!

TerriBull is probably right, I suppose it's fair to say that using influence to open doors for one's offspring is a human trait. The Beckham parents certainly do. But I do also know that at the children's London school, there was no preferential treatment demanded, and Mr. Beckham was one of the more sheepish, self-effacing parents! I think a lot of celebrities' lives are often one dimensional, so they can only see their children following in the same way.

Victoria Beckham on the eve of her 50th, is grimacing her way through most of The Sundays, she's even in the ST Style Magazine which is a load of rubbish at the best of times. Posing as usual with her signature glower as if she's about to be dispatched off to The Russian Gulags. What is it with that woman that she can't even crack a faint smile.

I suppose it's fair to say that using influence to open doors for one's offspring is a human trait, The Beckham's are the very worst example though, they've monetized their kids and put them in the public domain from babyhood. Growing up is a difficult process, no one wants the follies of their youth to follow them around through life. I don't think being indulgent parents conspicuously handing everything on a plate and not allowing children their privacy, equates to being good or responsible parents.

Having said all that some children of the famous are not without talent, I've recently seen Eve Hewson, Bono's daughter in a couple of things, particularly Bad Sisters on AppleTv, I think she's an accomplished actress, no doubt being Bono's daughter eased her passage into acting, but she still has to deliver, and more to the point I think she keeps her private life out of the limelight.

I've checked quickly ..... looks like it was Manchester, but definitely not Oxbridge despite his appearance and accent!

And as for 'actors' who get parts/fame because of their famous parents- Dakota Johnson springs to mind.No acting talent whatsoever, and whomever gave her the starring role in the 50 shades films wants sacking.

I subscribe to the Times online and without exception the Comments are the best thing about the articles. Sadly though many are now 'turned off'.

I miss people being able to comment under Amazon reviews. Why did that stop?? Some were hilarious but often others offered helpful replies from the supplier if there was a problem or a query. I can still remember being in pain with laughter after reading replies to reviews regarding laxatives!!

Majority. Not all.

Yes, but the majority of kids coming out of drama schools and stage schools these days are awarded degrees. Most are not thick. What I mean is, just because some choose acting as a specialism, the majority still have brains to talk about politics, education etc.

Even my son is sick of hearing of Taylor Swift articles, and he (was) a fan- it seems to be putting him off her- so its a case of overkill i think, if her PR dept are thinking its making
her more popular, its having the opposite effect...

In the main I do not know who these "celebs" are. For example, I have never knowingly seen/heard Taylor Swift - who the hell is she?

Hear, hear. I see some of these celebrities on Pointless and have never heard of them. Anyway I have no interest in these so called celebrities, much prefer the intrigue of the political world, absolutely fascinating.

Can we please add the Radford family to this list.
Their only claim to fame is to produce as many children as possible and now at least one daughter is following in their footsteps.

What really pees me off is when ‘celebrities’ pontificate on politics, education or financial matters. Most of them have no qualifications and are thick as two short planks. They should stick to acting or football or whatever.

The Daily Mail is currently showing no less than 9 articles about Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party. It seems to be a very important news item today. 🤦‍♀️🙄

My son went to drama school with the offspring of several actors and celebrities and guess what, they got agents and work straight after graduating all due to their parents . I’d seen them in school productions and there were far more talented actors.
