Yes of course they are mine, I paid for them and an not lending them out to anyone regardless of their needs

My mum lost all hers at 14, I'm 71 and still have all my own. My 43 and 39 year old daughters have only one filing each

All of mine had to come out when I was only 21

Just had my back molar removed, tooth had finally died under the crown, was about to start root canal treatment. The price would have been £300 with root treatment + new crown. NHS dentist

I’m 61 and just had my first tooth extracted.

I had an infection, and it was either paying over £800 for a complex root canal procedure or having the tooth pulled.

It feels really weird and wondering about dentures?

My goodness that surely most be private?

My mum had all her teeth pulled out when she was just 32yrs after having me! The dentist said she had lost all the calcium in her teeth, but as we know that is normal after having babies and can be easily correct with calcium tablets etc. My poor mum, the pain must have been dreadful, she had to wait 2 weeks for her dentures! I always think about going back in time and somehow stopping my mum going to the dentist that day.

Sure it was all about money! I had all my teeth filled with mercury yet I didn't have tooth ache I have lost a few back teeth but bonus as they were the once filled with mercury

I'm 65 & have all.my.own teeth, bar wisdom teeth which were extracted in my 30s. I have 3 fillings done as a teenager & I see my dentist once a year. I've inherited the strong teeth my mother had - she still had all her own teeth & just a few fillings when she died at 92. My gums need regular attention from the hygienist - I'm not as diligent with the floss & dental sticks as I should be! I wish my teeth weren't quite as yellow but then I wouldn't want some shining bright whiter than white ones- they look ridiculous on older people!!

Have you had advice from a specialist dentist re implants Camille333? My two implants were top molars, and the crucial thing as far as I know is bone density. If the maxillary sinus is in the way they can lift it, but gums only had to be healthy without inflammation.

I'm 77 and have no top teeth .I have a denture which is ghastly,can't eat or speak properly..I wanted implants but my gums are too thin.Ive lost the toothache and gained a lump of plastic in my mouth.

I’m 65. Had all my wisdom teeth extracted about 20 years ago. I’ve also got a couple of gaps on the bottom jaw. Lost about 30 years ago too. I know I wouldn’t be able to wear dentures as I have a terrible gag reflex. Looking after the rest of them so that they’ll last.

I have a couple of crowns but otherwise have all my own (I am 74). When I was little the "school dentist" (remember them?) gave me such a phobia about my teeth that when I got older I would do anything to make sure I kept them. I hate the thought of having false ones and would probably go for the very expensive implants if they became necessary.

76 and I have had loads taken out,it doesn’t bother me in the slightest,dentures are so good nowadays.

Lost a crown last week n during the examination discovered a small tooth with a crown needed to be removed. I was quoted £2,000. I pay over £41 per month on a dental plan. I am just having the one crown that’s still in situ replaced then told would be £60 but if hadn’t got the plan insurance would be £700. How can they justify those prices.

I have a few but not many, but I am 78.

And Madmeg, I hope your treatment was successful- don’t let the gap bother you. I too have lost a few teeth , mainly bottom, and two on top. It’s only obvious when I smile widely. 😂 would love implants but can’t justify the costs. And I doubt my gums are strong enough.

Madmeg - your Dad’s teeth growing out of the head - how ? I am fascinated !

I forgot to add that when my dad was a child he had three teeth growing out of the top of his head!!!! So there was no hope for me, was there? My mother also had what was known as "buck teeth" (i.e. like a rabbit's).

I have always hated my teeth. At 11 they were all crooked due to serious overcrowding. I even had one at the bottom growing on its own about half an inch behind the rest. I really missed it when it was removed!

At 12 I had multiple teeth removed and non-removable braces for about three years that were very painful. The wires ripped my lips to shreds. The colour of my teeth was/is also quite yellow (both parents the same colour). Once the braces were removed my teeth simply reverted back to how they were before but with small gaps between!!!! Nowadays they employ "retainers" to prevent this.

I lost my three front lower teeth about 15 years ago and due to bone loss had no choice but to have a removable denture. It cost a fortune, and since I had radiotherapy this year (for oral cancer), the denture doesn't fit any more. So I live with a noticeable gap till I can afford a replacement.

So I hate my teeth even more now.

Both daughters also had to have orthodontic treatment but rather more successful than mine.

I was born with three less teeth (only one wisdom tooth and one eye tooth) and have two implants. Not my best feature and my one vanity would be to have perfect pearlie whites.

Until I was 12 I visited the dentist for regular checkups. Each time I had to have at least one filling. Then after the 11 plus I went to a different school to my friend. Her school was taking part in a research programme on fluoride toothpaste and was given tubes of toothpaste in a plain box. Some had regular and some had fluoride ones, It wasn’t possible to tell which but she had too many and gave me some. I had no new fillings after that although the old ones have worn and needed replacing several times over the years!

Apart from the two wisdom teeth I had to have removed due to lack of space the remaining 30 are all my own.

I’m 67 and have my most of my own teeth apart from a bridge and a crown. I also have a few fillings. My teeth are yellowing - with age I presume - and I’m starting to dislike the way they look.

I am 73 all my own teeth apart from a cap at the front due to falling aged 5 and damaging my second tooth. All wisdom teeth out at 19 , who knows why.
My daughter aged 43 has never had a filling.

My teeth are the worst part of me! Thirty years ago, when I was 48, I experienced some sort of auto-immune condition. There was a tentative diagnosis of MS, but apart from minor residual symptoms, there have been no further episodes. Lucky me.
However, I lost many of my back teeth at that time and have worn a denture ever since. X-rays show that there is bone loss in the jaw.
I just hope that my remaining teeth last me out. Eyes, ears and joints are fine.
