Good Morning Everyone,
Its daylight but cloudy here this morning in brackley .
Today, after yesterdays hospital appointment in and out before my appointment time .
My usual bus journey to Bicester hopefully with meet ups , brackley itself as gone into St Georges mode with flags flying in town centre , it also Shakespeare's birthday as they hold celebrations for that in Stratford upon Avon.
Watch cycling on TV later in afternoon .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from a grey, damp wet W Kent. Just about right really as I am off for a dental check up later. Meanwhile I will keep busy continuing to pack and sort the house out for going away tomorrow. We enjoyed our piece of birthday cake with DD2 yesterday and caught up with the GC and SIL. DGS5 has turned into a proper teenager almost overnight.
Unfortunately DGS2 didn't get the teaching job in Newcastle that he had been hoping for, he wants to move there to be with his girlfriend. He will have no job from June as his school in Edinburgh are laying off 12 staff, he is only on a contract so will definitely go. Such a shame as he enjoys teaching and apparently is very good with small boys with problems.
Best wishes for all appointments and outings

Good morning from a dry NE where it is 6 degrees.
There have been a lot of emergency vehicle sirens early this morning waking me just after dawn, must check the local news and see what is going on.
Quiet day yesterday, watched Blue lights on iplayer and completed the series. Some really good acting especially the little lad.
Another quiet day today, maybe I will put a towel wash on, easy for me because I won't have to lug the ironing board out.
Have a good day.

Good morning all on this wet but bright St George’s Day in Cambridgeshire. I’ve not posted on this daily forum before & have enjoyed reading all the posts while drinking my first cup of coffee this morning.
Today it’s all about the Cars in our house . DH is taking my car to the garage to sort out an ongoing issue with my run flat tyres in a few minutes as they are a constant source of irritation . I don’t know if anyone else is familiar with run flats , mine are low profile tyres & every dip , road hump & pot hole is like a slow puncture, is the only way to describe it . Truly a nightmare 😖
When DH returns , I will drop him off to collect a hire car as we broke down in Huntingdon on Sunday in his car 😢 & had to call out the AA . That was after just collecting DH car from the garage on Friday , which cost in Harry Enfield’s words ‘Loadsamoney’. It had previously broke down on Good Friday & had been in the garage since just after , a new Slave cylinder was fitted . Now it may be the Master Cylinder , we are still awaiting that prognosis.
Luckily the hire car comes as part of our AA membership. DH is going to visit mil in Bedfordshire later & take her for lunch .Once he gets home I’ll start off for my trip to Hertfordshire.
Once I get back I will walk our 2KCC who will be champing at the bit & hopefully get the washing hung out . I have some plants to get out into the butler sinks in our garden 🪴
After the usual cleaning cycle . I need to spend some time wrapping a birthday 🎁 gift for my DD & packing a bag as I am going to stay with my 3xGDs for a few days while my DD & SIL go away for a midweek break . Another reason the car needs sorting it’s an 100 mile drive .

That’s me then , have a great St George’s Day whatever you do 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where, wonder of wonders, the sun is shining down from a clear blue sky.

Grandmabatty for a spell we could keep one GC happy for ages watching diggers at work in a local building site.

Several years ago DH and I spent time travelling around Greece BlueSapphire. One of the islands we stayed on was Hydra, we arrived in a passenger ferry from Ermioni in the Peloponnese and spent the first couple of hours finding accommodation. I loved that island and have some beautiful prints by a local artist.
Thank you for reminding me of that.

We’re off to stay overnight at DS’s house to help with the school run tomorrow morning as DDoutL has to be out at the crack of dawn for an early flight.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Boiler team are here again and job should be finished by lunch time. Still feeling considerably off colour though cough more intermittent so will forego supermarket trip and hope I have enough in the freezer to keep me going. Am very anxious not to share my germs with anyone and feel I should be tolling a bell and saying “unclean”! Would be a week with something pencilled in for every day.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Apr-24 08:54:12

I meant to ask Purplepixie if her poncho was finished, if so, could we have a picture please?

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
Yesterday I went early into town on various errands including picking up a prescription. I offloaded more books in the Oxfam bookshop, I still have many more here but I expect my descendants will inherit most of them!
I walked through M&S but couldn't find the items I'd picked out online. A pity because I like to try trousers on especially as the fit and sizing is so unreliable these days and I detest the bother of returning things.
Today I must play catchup with the laundry and housework in spite of still trying to fight off some infection that keeps trying to break through. I shall just pace myself.

I hope everyone's day goes well.

Good morning from Durham. Another still, grey start - no doubt more showers later.
Off to meet a friend for coffee this morning at a local garden centre. Later, I’m going to collect DD2’s Little Dog for a sleepover. She’ll have laundry for me as well. On the way there, I’ll nip into Boots at Metrocentre - it’s an extra points session and I need stuff for my holidays, so a win-win.
Hoping all appointments go well today.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a dry, calm South Yorkshire. I woke up this morning feeling as if I’d spent the night stuffed into a cardboard box. Everything aches! Yesterday it rained constantly and I spent half the afternoon on the phone trying to sort out my broadband contract. I so wish things were as simple as they used to be. Made some Anzac biscuits for GS (and some for me). Dentist for me this morning and then volunteering this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Taichinan Tue 23-Apr-24 08:17:50

Good morning all from the Angus coast. It's 6°, cloudy, sunny, blue skies, breezy and raindrops on the north facing windows. No snow as yet 😉. I suppose it's typical April weather really.
Happy St George's Day to our friends south of the border. I hadn't ever heard of the traditional gathering of mushrooms grammaretto.
Glad all the medical appointments went well yesterday and the results were all good.
Safe travels to Olddudders.
Bluesapphire I too am enjoying your holiday through your posts - you're bringing back many a memory for me!
Today is Tai chi day again - they seem to come round so quickly! Then shopping - and I must remember to get an 80 card for my little cousin and get it into the post.
Enjoy your day everyone and may your sunbeams be many 🦋☀️🦋

Pitt, our Alexa refused to talk to me either this morning. 😆

Marydoll Tue 23-Apr-24 08:13:59

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, but it is only 2°C

DH let ne sleep, because of another disturbed night. He has just brought me a hottie for my hip. 😍.

Yesterday turned out to be really tiring and busy, I was still at church at lunchtime. Those of you, who know me, know that I enjoy a good blether and blether, I did!
Afterwards, I had to pop to Sainsbury's to pick up a parcel and told myself to stear clear of the clothes.
Unfortunately, there was a 70% off sale rail at the foot of the escalator and the rest is history! 😁
As usual, I had overdone did things and had to lie down and have a sleep until my feeling of being unwell passed.

Ash, I hope your injection helps. I have had a few and eventually my carpal tunnel op was done by a very skilled and kind plastic surgeon. What a relief!
I was in the operating theatre (awake, unfortunately), when he said: You will never forget this date, the date Trump became president!

GMBatty, if it is any consolation, my mother refused to cooperate with the geriatric psychiatry services and that actually helped with her diagnosis.💐

Enjoy your day folks and good luck with any appointments.
DH is spray painting our Forth Road Bridge of a fence, I shall need to get up and move the cars, he cannot be trusted.
I am off to the Range, in search of a particular pot to house my lemon tree. 🤞

JudyBloom Tue 23-Apr-24 08:11:30

Happy St. George's Day everyone.

Pittcity Tue 23-Apr-24 07:59:17

Good morning from a grey, cold Colchester. We have WiFi problems here and DH wants me to solve them before I go to my volunteering day at the charity shop.
He wouldn't notice if it was working or not until Alexa didn't answer one of his questions.
Love to all 🦩 x

monk08 Tue 23-Apr-24 07:55:15

Good morning all from a dull Black country although the sun is trying to make a breakthrough, yesterday was nonstop rain.
Hairdressers today not much else planned.
Safe travels those on the move.
Thoughts with missing posters.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Grammaretto Tue 23-Apr-24 07:53:54

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The sun is peeping through.
Yesterday I enjoyed the Andy Warhol textile exhibition and a good catchup with my arty friends.
Today the chiropractor for my monthly "adjustments" while I wait for a new hip.
An insurance assessor is coming to inspect the damage after the storms. I don't hold out much hope though. He'll tell me it's lack of maintenance.

It's Shakespeare's birthday and St George's day when traditionally we pick the mushrooms.

Have a good day everyone.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Apr-24 07:51:48

Morning from an overcast S Hampshire, good your appointments were on time Mick and Ashcombe, safe journey to oldudders.
It drizzled most of yesterday and was cold, the voluntary phones were full of random calls.
MrJ has been diagnosed with infected sinuses, antibiotics should do the job..
I’m out for lunch with a friend today, a good catch up.

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk after yesterday’s lovely sunny afternoon. I treated us to Norfolk strawberries and English asparagus yesterday. Local ie 5 miles away asparagus not yet available. Last year there was very little because of a shortage of pickers and I fear that may be the case this year.

Off to meet a friend for coffee this morning and an afternoon, hopefully,in the summerhouse. Our gardener came yesterday morning so the grass has been cut and a general tidy up including getting rid of the Himalayan balsam which was spreading in the pond. He is very careful to avoid our many wild flowers so the cowslips are still delightful.

Best wishes to all.

RosiesMaw Tue 23-Apr-24 07:40:43

Good morning from N Bucks where I woke up COLD about 5 o clock! My furry hotty has now curled up beside me but I need to get up and on to our Arts Society Special Interest Day.
Took the guest speaker out to dinner at our village pub yesterday and had an enjoyable evening . He's very entertaining and nice with it and I'm confident he'll be good today.
Glad you are enjoying your cruise BlueSapphire Is Hydra where they have no cars but transport everything on donkeys? D2 and family were there and on Spetses over the Easter holidays - sounds lovely!
Wishing you all a pleasant and happy St George's Day!

Gingster Tue 23-Apr-24 07:39:20

Good morning all and it’s overcast here in Essex after a few sunny days.

We have the plumber arriving soon to fit a new boiler.
Dd will come in after school drop off as she has to be back for a parents meeting an hour later and it’s not worth her going home .

Bridge this afternoon and maybe this evening.

I hope all your appointments go well Ash and your dh has a good journey. 🤞.

Bluesapphire I’m enjoying hearing all about your daily activities and am jealous of your cruise. 💚. 8 years since our World Cruise. Time for another .

Enjoy your St. George’s Day. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 23-Apr-24 07:36:01

Good morning from an overcast Oxfordshire after a very wet day yesterday and it looks as though it was a wet night too, cold as well, heating has clicked on again.

MrOops has gone to meet MzOops to bring her clothes back here as she couldn’t squeeze them into the car last week, he went last night, not wanting to do a 6 hour round trip in one day, I wonder what else he will bring back? No matter, it’s all going down into the cabin, after she has moved out of her house (still no date yet for her ‘new’ house) she will be here and can sort it all out. Everything else is going into storage.

Vertigo wasn’t too good yesterday so I ‘mostly’ sat and read my kindle books.

Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are unwell and or stressed.

Sar53 Tue 23-Apr-24 07:26:15

Good morning from a chilly Essex coast.
Lots to do today before my trip to DD1 tomorrow. I'm trying to take as little as possible with me, as the thought of carrying a heavy case up and down stairs and escalators going across London, doesn't fill me with joy. My cough is better than it was but nowhere near gone and I still get short of breath.
I'm looking forward to seeing my granddaughters and of course their new puppy who looks just like a Teddy bear.
I renewed our car insurance yesterday, thank goodness it's only once a year. I shopped around but the best deal was with our current insurers.
Have the best day everyone xxx
