I've not really had one for ages, but apparently do now.

Is it normal to be struggling (I mean really struggling) for breath, for just some of the time, please?

Marydoll Fri 26-Apr-24 11:40:59

Glad to hear it. Miss A, please make sure you tell him that you were too ill to attend your appointment and about the rash. Stress how much your are struggling.
Good luck! 💐

BlueBelle Fri 26-Apr-24 11:28:30

Oh MissA please please don’t hold back
Is this GP the only one in your area ? , you can change without a specific reason (although sounds as if you have a good reason) don’t try and get a bus get a taxi and ask at reception for someone to help you to where you need to go the ‘friends of’ will push you in a wheelchair
I m glad you feel a bit better BUT you are clearly not well at all and you cannot play around or be shy about your health problems Come on lady put your big girl pants on and get the help you badly need

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 11:10:35

Thank you all.
I have the gp phoning me this afternoon. (For what its worth)

Oh MissA - I have just completed a 2 -week course of Antibiotics. Lots of bugs going around. Since you have other underlying conditions, all the more reason to get in touch with your Doctor. I have Bronchiectasis so I have antibiotics on my repeat prescription.
I hope by now, you have been sorted and you’re feeling better.

Grandyma Fri 26-Apr-24 11:02:05

MissAdventure I need to be fit for walking around the hospital!! 🙂No you don’t, they will provide a wheelchair, they won’t let you walk anywhere if you have breathing difficulties.

Grandyma Fri 26-Apr-24 10:55:05

MissAdventure I was in the same position as you last September. I had a chest infection, had seen the GP who had checked me over and given me antibiotics & steroids. That was on the Friday, my breathing was terrible and my family were saying I should ring 111 or go to A&E. I felt so ill I couldn’t face it so I just stayed in bed. By the Monday morning I was too breathless to make it to the bathroom - I gave in and let DH ring an ambulance. I was in trouble for not phoning sooner and in trouble with my oxygen levels being dangerously low. I won’t go into detail because I’m not trying to scare you but suffice to say I’m extremely lucky to be here. I will not hesitate to ring 999 if I’m ever in that situation again.
Please get some proper help. If you are struggling to breathe you need to be seen urgently. 💐

rafichagran Fri 26-Apr-24 10:52:27

Please ring 111. I hope you feel better soon.

Elegran Fri 26-Apr-24 10:49:02

Or get into that taxi and just appear at the GPs surgery. Present yourself at the receptionist's desk and let them see and hear you, and they can then decide how best to help you. They will then do SOMETHING in case you collapse on their waiting-room floor and embarrass them.

Elegran Fri 26-Apr-24 10:45:58

Do you have someone who would ring the doctor for you? Someone who the Gp can't bully into not mentioning that they feel like hell and have a load of symptoms that have their friends worrying about them?

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 10:39:40

Thank you.
Yes, luckily I can now afford a taxi if necessary, but even so, I need to be fit for walking around the hospital!! 🙂

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 26-Apr-24 10:37:05

Oh MissA I do hope that you will feel better soon. Could you afford a taxi next time?
Sending you lots of healing good wishes.

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 10:31:34

I haven't been able to walk to the bus stop for about two years, anyway.
That's normal for me, these days. Honestly!

Just that I had planned on having a go at it today.

Shelflife Fri 26-Apr-24 10:25:43

MissA, if you know you feel so unwell you that you would not be able to get to the bus stop then please ring 111!!! Or your GP and do not play down how you feel.
Clearly you are struggling, get help and don't feel guilty about picking that phone up. You had a bad / stressful night last night so that is sufficient evidence to let 111 or you GP know. Please ring now. I wish you well. 💐

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 10:03:23

I've not got covid, I've rung the hospital, although nobody answered. (Naughty "no show" on my records now, I expect)
Can't get through to my docs.

Cabbie21 Fri 26-Apr-24 08:31:56

I am sorry you are unwell. I hope you have rung 111.

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 08:22:18

But he told me off when i phoned him in the first place.

The receptionist wouldnt let me have a face to face, then he asked how I thought he could diagnose over the phone.

I'm cowardly, I admit it.

Iam64 Fri 26-Apr-24 08:21:48

Morning MossA - call your gp

Grammaretto Fri 26-Apr-24 08:18:24

In that case call the doctor!

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 08:16:19

I won't make it to the hospital.
This would have been my first time of feeling well enough to try and go by bus, anyway.
I doubt I could get to the bus stop today.

Its routine rheumatology appointment.

Elegran Fri 26-Apr-24 08:15:47

For crying out loud, MissA you are not at all well Phone your GP at once and tell them all the symptoms you have posted on here, and get a phone appointment at the very least! If you don't want to do that, then ring 111 and ask their advice, but whatever you decide to do, don't minimise your symptoms or your fears. You are worth more than that.

Ali08 Fri 26-Apr-24 08:13:46

MissAdventure,
I can't add to what you've already been advised but I do hope you are better soon!! xx

Grammaretto Fri 26-Apr-24 08:08:41

Mixing meds can cause rashes. I hope you got some sleep MissAdventure
Try to go to the hospital appointment. Wear a mask.

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 08:01:51

Yes thanks.
I shall be ok.

People have mentioned steroids and omeprazole - they are (part of) my usual meds, but I've been vomiting them up.

So I'm thinking that may be why the rash.

Harris27 Fri 26-Apr-24 07:51:57

I’m asthmatic and used to bad winters but this one has been horrendous. One chest infection after the other and I’m still working. Hope your ok.

MissAdventure Fri 26-Apr-24 07:48:11

I hadn't even thought of that.
Better test I suppose.
Thanks.
