Obsessive shopping

I'm sat in the car outside Home Sense looking at the window display and drooling.
But I can't let myself go inside, because I will have to buy something. It's all so me.
I love fossils - they always have new ones. Colourful cushions and curtains. I have too many.
Lovely solid wood furniture, ethnic bits and bobs. Soft handmade Turkish rugs and so much more.
Oh fgs I've talked myself into going for a look see
Wish me luck (in not buying anything)🤣🤣

Do you sell on line Biglouis?
I have tried this but not a lot goes these days.
Mostly furniture I have renovated.

I used to be a bit of an obsessive shopper at one time. I was for ever buying stuff for the house - mostly antiques and nicknacks. What cured me was starting my own business and startine to sell off my excess stuff. Some of it had increased considerably in value since I bought or inherited.

Now I get just as much pleasure from sourcing items to sell in my various shops as I ever did in buying for myself,

I try not to shop these days - we have enough rubbish in the house as it is. I stick to food shopping - which I must admit is a bit of an obsession!

Obsessive shopping can sometimes be a sign that all is not well

Totally agree hollysteers. I have a friend who is a compulsive shopper. Goes to the Trafford Centre for a look around and always buys stuff. Her home life is less than good. I think she shops to fill a void.

I moved from Cheshire last year but I remember that there was a very seductive branch of Homesense at Stanley Green in Handforth. There was a TKMaxx just a few steps along. I tend to home in on earrings especially on Amazon or Ebay late at night, though I usually end up wearing old favourites.

I must not buy more yarn.
Repeat

With family troubles, late DH seriously ill, my health troubles etc etc, I would often buy a lipstick or eyeshadow or similar. It cheered me up and not expensive as I only bought cheaper makeup. Now I have drawers full of makeup (I’m a singer so do use it).

Since life has calmed down, I haven’t bought a single item unnecessarily for a few years and what I have will keep me going.

I don't feel guilty about my Amazon shopping now I have dedicated delivery day. It isn't so bad if I only get one delivery per week.

Amazon would close down without me.

Several times they've offered me a business account because apparently I buy in large amounts 😂

I really dislike shopping for clothes.

I wouldnt know what to do with it, once I brought it home
I'd wash my old cushions etc and send them to the local charity shop.
Really need some brighter cushions!!

fancythat

I dont think I buy anything more than I need.
Not even sure why.
I dont think I like the feeling?
I wouldnt know what to do with it, once I brought it home.

Having said that I discovered recently I have about 6 pairs of scissors. No idea why.

The sort of shops that sell everything household, I find a bit overwhelming.

Glad it's not just me. I find shopping for clothes bad enough. I am on the spectrum though, so I do find those sorts of shopping trips rather overwhelming and like you I just wouldn't know what to do with it.

Besides, I've been thinking about all the "stuff" I've got (I still have a shed full of my parents' things) and I realise I should start clearing out not accumulating.

I just ordered a new floor mop but now I'm wondering if I still have a bucket to go with it 🤔

I blame Caleo for my rash spending 😁

We have a new Poundland about 2 miles from us I go there occasionally and get carried away. I am a shopaholic I think it’s because I couldn’t afford to be years ago. Especially home furnishings cushions bedding etc at TK or Dunelms.

Charity shops and other charitable causes benefit when I have a clear out. Which is quite often but it’s great to know that things can be used and given new life in someone else’s home.

The shops that tell you what you want before you thought of it are rather dangerous.😁

I went mad with Amazon today and ordered TWO washing up brushes

well, i'm in a different league altogether; for me it's poundland. always buy more than i intend, esp stationery, torches, clothing.

annsixty Fri 26-Apr-24 17:52:41

There was a notification recently that the one either in the Arndale in Manchester or the Trafford Centre is closing very soon.
I think there is one inside TXMaxx somewhere near me .
A friend of mine loves them and buys lots of fancy bits .
She describes herself as “artyfarty” and Home Sence is that sort of shop.

CanadianGran Fri 26-Apr-24 17:38:16

Whole I love browsing through shops like these, I'm not really tempted by any decor items. I'm pretty happy with the way my house is decorated and feel no need for anything.

All my knicknacks have been collected over years and most are sentimental rather than purely decorative. If anything, I could use to replace some cushions on my couch.

Thank you Urms

And Dunelm is round the corner.

I fancy a trip out tomorrow.
