I'm sat in the car outside Home Sense looking at the window display and drooling.
But I can't let myself go inside, because I will have to buy something. It's all so me.
I love fossils - they always have new ones. Colourful cushions and curtains. I have too many.
Lovely solid wood furniture, ethnic bits and bobs. Soft handmade Turkish rugs and so much more.
Oh fgs I've talked myself into going for a look see
Wish me luck (in not buying anything)🤣🤣

I love Home Sense. Fortunately, we don’t have one near me. I only drive locally these days, but the girls go often and occasionally, I bag a lift. It’s far better than TKMax.

Not been for a long time. I just had a look some lovely items, I also noticed a list of products being recalled at the bottom of their web page. Why can't manufacturers make goods properly the first time.

kittylester Fri 26-Apr-24 12:53:44

I think I read that some, if not all, Home Senses are closing.

spabbygirl Fri 26-Apr-24 12:56:34

I love it!! And TKMax, I've got some great bargains there but it is addictive, did you get anything?

Katie59 Fri 26-Apr-24 12:59:17

I confess I’m a “shopaholic” but at least I head for the Bargain or Reduced section, the fridge and freezer are full of yellow labels, it drives OH mad. They are mostly what we normally use, sometimes I do need to get imaginative to use stuff.

A Geode, and embroidered cushions

Namsnanny Fri 26-Apr-24 13:29:20

For my white and cream bedroom.😊

I kind of hope they do. The parking is easy and our store is basically on the way to everywhere we go, so it's hard to ignore.
I really can't buy anymore new stuff.
Just keep the antique heirlooms and mid century furniture.
That's it now.
NO NEW BITS.

BlueBelle Fri 26-Apr-24 13:43:39

Never seen this shop we don’t have them round this way

Namsnanny Fri 26-Apr-24 14:19:13

What you dont have you dont miss BlueBelle😄

BlueBelle Fri 26-Apr-24 14:54:50

Well I might if it’s that wonderful Namsnanny
Is it like the Range type of shop I ve never actually heard of it
I ve looked on the map and it’s mostly round London and Home Counties

Namsnanny Fri 26-Apr-24 15:07:20

I would say it's similar to Range in as much as they stock everything for the home and garden - not any live plants though.
I believe they take stock from designer ranges or high end chains that have over ordered etc.
Which means you get eclectic styles, and you have to buy there and then as they can't re order.
Anyway, I'd better stop bigging them up or I shall go back again grin

Georgesgran Fri 26-Apr-24 15:44:38

I’m really not that into shops or shopping, but I’ve just spent £40 on random stuff in Boyes - now there’s no Wilko.
Nothing special, just loo blocks, dog treats, bath stuff etc, but it felt good wandering around in there and throwing things into a basket! Little things?

Urmstongran Fri 26-Apr-24 15:51:19

We have a ‘Home Bargains’ in the square below us. Occasionally of a weekend L’il Miss (7) and I go in for a mooch. She loves that grandma is never in a rush as she loves to check out smellies, little bits and bobs, Vimto candyfloss in small tubs etc. We often come out with a bagful … it rarely costs more than a tenner! 🤣 so happy girl, happy grandma.

Kate1949 Fri 26-Apr-24 15:57:35

I'm not extravagant, in fact I'm very careful. However, we went to a market today and I saw a lovely cross body bag (I needed one). I couldn't make up my mind between two lovely colours. DH said 'have both'. So I did. grin I have never done that before, I would have chosen one. Hey ho they were cheap and I'm nearly 75. Why not?

Urmstongran Fri 26-Apr-24 15:59:39

A woman after my own heart Kate1949!
Because you can. And you’re worth it. 😁

No, there's one near Bristol.
It's part of the TK Maxx group.

Jewelle Fri 26-Apr-24 16:01:16

There's a couple up in the North West too. Or was. Not sure if the Trafford Centre one is still open.

Callistemon21 Fri 26-Apr-24 16:01:28

It's not exactly on my route to anywhere but Hobbycraft is between HomeSense and TK Maxx

A good day out! 😁

Callistemon21 Fri 26-Apr-24 16:02:08

And Dunelm is round the corner.

I fancy a trip out tomorrow.

Kate1949 Fri 26-Apr-24 16:04:23

Thank you Urms

Whole I love browsing through shops like these, I'm not really tempted by any decor items. I'm pretty happy with the way my house is decorated and feel no need for anything.

All my knicknacks have been collected over years and most are sentimental rather than purely decorative. If anything, I could use to replace some cushions on my couch.

annsixty Fri 26-Apr-24 17:52:41

There was a notification recently that the one either in the Arndale in Manchester or the Trafford Centre is closing very soon.
I think there is one inside TXMaxx somewhere near me .
A friend of mine loves them and buys lots of fancy bits .
She describes herself as “artyfarty” and Home Sence is that sort of shop.

welbeck Fri 26-Apr-24 18:05:43

well, i'm in a different league altogether; for me it's poundland. always buy more than i intend, esp stationery, torches, clothing.
