Harry and Meghan ‘royal’ tour of Nigeria.

No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.

Comparisons could be made between ‘youthful’ and energetic H and M and the elderly ailing king and Catherine also ailing.

Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.

I have been at the receiving end of some of the barbed comments people see fit to make on these threads. Not constructive, not nice, often missing the point. There are clearly some very intelligent people on here as well but on balance I have decided I don't want to be part of it. Good riddance! I hear some of you say.

Sadoldwonan doesn’t sound too pleasant herself. If looking for fun perhaps she should have tried the games threads.

Sadoldwoman Who? when? what about?. How do the lies of these unnamed royals compare in quantity and quality with those emanating from the Sussexes?

I do hope you havent left yet SOWoman?

I'm intrigued to hear the answers to Monica's questions.

Also as others have said, there are lots of other topics for you to comment on.

The Sussex’s are criticised for their many lies they have spoken in tv interviews.

So have many, many royals…

Perhaps this site is not for you. People say what they think, within the ‘talk guidelines’. Did you think it would be all knitting and making jam? Those things do feature if you look for them.

Obviously not, I do neither. I didn’t expect so much hatred towards fellow humans, not everyone on here is so full of hatred but those that point out the racism, rudeness
M vileness here, I see, are getting ridiculed, such as Ian. I actually am shocked that these posters believe all that the press tells them to believe.

nanna8 so right, they lie and lies cause much hurt, and yes the kindness in GransNet is abundant

And for the vile way they have treated their own family! I don’t think the stuff was made up, we watched it and heard it out of their own mouths. If that is interpreted as showing hatred, well that is a different definition from mine. As a whole the people on this site are far more kind and thoughtful than most and I find it quite rude to suggest otherwise.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 07-May-24 10:42:52

Indeed. Which has been proven, not concocted by the media.

Honestly, what has happened to ‘be kind’. I joined gransnet forum less than a week ago expecting some happy, friendly, kind and interesting groups of people, I’m actually shocked how much hatred and vile comments people are making about others that they’ve never met and going along with believing all that the media say is true, which we know it’s made up to sell news. The British media has a record going back for years of making false accusations about people in the limelight, stirring the hornets nest, that’s why they are sued on a daily basis. For goodness sake would you say the hateful things that you’re writing here, to their faces I doubt that you would. See the goodness and greatness in people and if you’ve nothing kind to say…. I’m sure I’ll get trolled for this post but hey I wish you happiness and kindness.

Never have two royals made such a fuss about not wanting to be royal and then continued to act as royals and then feeling upset we public and the media say sorry you are not royal family in our eyes and then carry on regardless .. that woman is poison .. she would trade anything for abit of publicity ..

They are going to Nigerian because apparently Megan has done a test and she has 42 percent or something like that in her gene lol but I think they should have their titles removed

TiggyW Mon 06-May-24 10:57:24

I’d like to find out about my roots (I suspect at least a dash of Viking - anybody remember ‘The Blood Donor’?), but I won’t get a free holiday to find out.

Anniebach Sun 05-May-24 22:13:59

We may hear the truth or her truth

Iam64 Sun 05-May-24 18:56:53

* I thought Meghan wanted to visit Nigeria to find her roots. surprised more black people don’t do that*
Really? It’s her slave ancestory roots. Most black Americans/jamaicans and more have no idea where their slave ancestors were grabbed from.

Anniebach Sun 05-May-24 17:09:09

So strange, could she be unaware of the lies she has told, she has such a need to be centre of attention

Curtaintwitcher Sun 05-May-24 16:54:37

I thought Meghan wanted to visit Nigeria to find her roots? I'm surprised more black people don't do that.
She might find that she prefers the land of her ancestors, especially if they regard her as a substitute for royalty. She might end up as Queen Meghan somewhere...isn't that what she has always wanted?

Amalegra Sun 05-May-24 14:42:53

I think it’s a bit of a joke really! Meghan has recently ‘discovered’ she has ethnic links to Nigeria, hasn’t she? So it’s useful to emphasise those as a ‘woman of colour’ I guess. Helps the publicity and hopefully the bank balance no end! I don’t think that they put our dignified Royal Family in the shade at all. They just come across as publicity hungry, money grubbing grifters who’d go to the opening of an envelope if it paid enough. And of course, even better if it can possibly be conceived as emphasising their ‘caring’ and ‘humanitarian’ credentials!

I may be wrong but I understood while the Invictus Games were started by Prince Harry, the Prince and Princess Wales also played a major part in their early days, Prince William quietly transferring $1.11 million from his 2020 settlement with the British newspapers to the Invictus Games Foundation.
Be that as it may, a pic in todays newspaper of Princess Anne during the playing of the Canadian National Anthem contrasts strongly with reports of Meghan eye rolling, smirking and apparently mocking the singing of the same anthem, O Canada by a young woman on the Autistic Spectrum last November.
I don’t think she will be missed at the service at St Paul’s.
