Good afternoon from a lovely and sunny East Midlands. It would have been my dad’s birthday today. Miss him everyday.

Good morning from West Sussex by the sea. Sun shining and we are all set for a visit to our favourite bluebell wood. Yesterday we worked hard at the allotment. I battled couch grass and bindweed while DH sorted out compost areas and water butts. We aim to be ‘no dig’ but how do you do that with bindweed? I have to admire its persistence - if I had that I could achieve so much more than I do 😂

Fabulous looking cake Marydoll - I hope your DD recovers from her migraine in time to enjoy her birthday.
Blossoming, I hope you get some sleep and feel better 💐
Holly, I love the idea of moon and stars on the bedroom ceiling. Why should children have all the fun!

Hope all with pain and lingering bugs feel better soon. Thinking of the absent posters going through hard times.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Art yesterday and finished a portrait in acrylics, but not really happy with it. The company was nice though. Then took a watch to have the strap lengthened and some food shopping.
Late last night eating cheese and biscuits, a bad habit I should kick.

Last night had the moon and stars on the bedroom ceiling, a light I treated myself to, really for children, but I like it!
Another quiet day, housework etc.
Nice to see you Mizuna! Thoughts to all with worries 🌺

Loved reading of the birds and animal antics in your garden this morning Whitewave! 😁

A bit of a late good morning from me but just wanted to send gMattie a gentle hug for today x

Marydoll Sat 04-May-24 09:19:25

Poor DD has a migraine and has been sick during the night! Some birthday. sad

Stilllearning Sat 04-May-24 09:09:04

💐*grandMattie, You looked very like I pictured you Mizuna
Your son looks lovely, I can see why he’s good company!

Enjoy the ballet Bonnybanko and Grandmabatty

Outrageous service Roses

Enjoy your holiday Oops

Haircut for me and lunch with a former colleague whom I haven’t seen for years. She’s a lovely person who’s had more than her share of trouble but always bounces back, I’m so pleased to catching up with her.

Wishing everyone a good day

Blossoming Sat 04-May-24 08:58:14

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 11°C.

I’m still in bed after a very disturbed night with a bad stomach. I feel dreadful, so nauseous and need some sleep.

Wishing you all a good day 🌻

Good morning from another dull and grey Black Country.

Bit of housework today and finish off packing. As we have an early morning flight tomorrow to Malaga. Staying in a hotel near the Airport tonight. So will leave here on the train around 7pm.

Cannot believe you have been in Bristol a year now gM, but you have settled in so well, so it seems longer!

Lovely photo Mizuna

Wishing you all a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

A wet, dismal day in Co Durham after a dry breezy day yesterday. Wish I’d put some washing in. Instead I spent most of the day setting up my new iPad. Why is it never as easy as they say. Took almost two hours to restore the apps, the of course most of the needed to be signed into again. Panic ensued trying to remember passwords. I’m pleased with it though, went for a larger one and I can actually read it without a struggle.
💐 grandMattie. Lovely photo Mizuna. How frustrating Roses hope it sorted soon. Enjoy the ballet ladies.
No plans for today. We have the granddogs staying as dd2, dSiL and dgd are away in the north west.
Enjoy today everyone.

Alygran Sat 04-May-24 08:40:08

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Is dull today but the wind seems to have gone.
We had torrential rain last night so everywhere is soaked again!
I’ll pop to the garden centre today for some perennials and see what there is for some summer colour for the patio pots. The tulips have been beautiful but last night’s rain has finally seen them off!
Have a good day everyone.

GrannySomerset Sat 04-May-24 08:38:00

Bright sunshine so a good start to the day. Must get ready for DS and co arriving later - just overnight but I am happy to take whatever time they can spare me and will enjoy catching up with their doings. Wish I had something interesting to contribute but am still feeling flattened by whatever bug I have been fighting for the last couple of weeks. The sunshine helps a lot, though.

Good morning from a damp Co Armagh
I’ve just got back into bed after opening the curtains! No rush to get up
Have the best day you can flower 🌷

Georgesgran Sat 04-May-24 08:27:36

Good morning from Durham. Typical Bank Holiday weather - pouring with rain!
What a poor show Roses - I’d be posting bad reviews when you finally get things sorted.
I’ve no need to go out today, as DGS2’s football session has been cancelled, so I’ll just see what takes my fancy.
That year has passed in a flash gM - a bittersweet day 💐.
Best wishes to all. X

Grandmabatty Sat 04-May-24 08:26:03

Marydoll a very happy birthday to your daughter. I hope she has a lovely day.

harrigran Sat 04-May-24 08:24:12

Good morning from a dismal NE after heavy overnight rain.
Bad night, I read until 1.30 but could not settle because of painful shoulders.
The family are coming this afternoon and my sister and BIL will call in for a drink and a chat.
Enjoy your outings today.

Good morning all from a dull but dry Black country.
No plans as yet will see what the day brings.
Haven't read through yet tablet needs charging and usual full English calling.
Nice mother and son photo Mizuna good you had a fun day.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans may you all find some ☀️.

GM, a sad day for you. 💐

What a lovely, supportive neighbour you are. X

Marydoll Sat 04-May-24 08:13:06

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C.

I posted twice already, but lost them. you all had a lucky escape. 😁

Mizuma, a lovely photo, I'm pleased to hear that you had a good day. I did imagine you having purple hair with orange stripes, since you are so arty! 😉

Bella, I do hope your mouth settles down, nothing worse.

Today is DD's fortieth birthday. DIL, Dollie's mum has made her a fabulous cake.
I'm feeling quite emotional. I spent most of the pregnancy in and out of hospital, not easy with two under fours at home.
Her first weeks of life were spent in Babycare, on oxygen and being tube fed, after being born early with the cord around her neck. I went to the ward alone and was sure she had died, after a nurse held my hand and asked my religion. 😢
She has continued to give me grief since.

A family gathering with my children and my two beloved granddaughters is planned to be held this afternoon in DDs garden. I won't be present, I plan to sit inside where it will be warmer! 🤣

DIL visited yesterday to help me choose my outfit for Dollie's First Communion next week. She was astounded at my vast shoe collection. How many pairs of black heels does a girl need, especially if she can't walk in them? 🤣
Sadly, she had to park her car, away from the house, because her parents (who live next door) give her a hard time if she spends time with us. They have little time for her, but don't want anyone else to spend time with her either. I cannot fathom out their behaviour.
Later, I got a lovely message from her, thanking DH and I for treating her like a daughter.😍

Bonny and GMB, enjoy the ballet.
Have a good day folks and enjoy the holidays, those who abroad.

GrannyIvy Sat 04-May-24 08:09:29

Good morning from a sunny Cambridgeshire after a wet chilly day yesterday. However we have been lucky in East Anglia to enjoy some lovely warm sunny days this week. Today DH and I are off to DD2’s new home to continue cleaning and repairing ready for her big move in next week. Dgs2 aged 5 has announced he is helping today and we will enjoy his company and enthusiasm 😂.
Wishing a healthy happy day to all 💐

Sar53 Sat 04-May-24 08:07:59

Good morning from our caravan in Caister. The sun is shing thank goodness. Our journey here yesterday took 4 hours and it rained all the way.
This afternoon is round one of the rugby tournament. This campsite is full of the families of all the children playing. I think there will be plenty of muddy children later.
We are right next to the beach so I may venture for a walk later.
I cannot believe the treatment you received Roses, what a shoddy company.
Thinking of you today GM.
Here's hoping everyone has a good day and the sun shines for you xx

Pittcity Sat 04-May-24 08:02:28

Good morning from sunny Colchester. What a change from yesterday when it poured all day. First load of washing on the line and now waiting for DHs fishing stuff.
First concert of the year in the park next to our estate. Doubt it'll be warm enough to open the windows or sit out to listen. Doesn't look like it'll be my cup of tea anyway, DJ acts.
Love to all 🦩 x

We are off for a train ride this morning hopefully with a steam loco at least one way.

Roses shocking service Hope you can get it sorted out soon
Best wishes to all

Whitewavemark2 Sat 04-May-24 07:56:36

Good morning from a beautiful morning on the South Downs. Yesterday was sun but a chill wind. Today the wind seems to have gone.

Sat in the conservatory yesterday watching a magpie. He was spending time - and it seems just for fun- swooping onto all the tiny birds in our garden and frightening them off. I thought at first he was after the mealy worms - but no - he sat on the chimney pot then swooped down, frightened them away and repeated for ages. Never attempted to eat the food. I even offered him some mealy worms of his own which were easy to get to - but he ignored them. The only thing not frightened of him was the squirrel who tranquilly sat munching on his peanuts watching the show.

If it is warm enough we will eat in the garden today. We rarely go anywhere weekends or bank holidays - we leave it to the working folk. My DS is off to a Greek island I think for a week or so, having just come back from Provence. DD is staying in the U.K. but I can’t remember what she is doing. Must have a chat to see what is going on.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony

Good morning all and the sun is out here in Essex.
We had a very soggy journey back from Suffolk yesterday - it didn’t stop raining until teatime. I left little pooch’s coat and harness at the seaside cottage, so rushed up to town to buy another. While there I took my coat in to have another zip put in. Zips are my ‘bete noire’.

I will shop soon and then sort out the tiny bedroom for dgd1, who is staying tonight. We’re going to watch little dgd’s dance show this evening. Dd will come over this afternoon and we’ll eat before heading out. Mums take it in turn to dress the children one night and watch the following night.

Roseandlilac how frustrating for you. You haven’t been lucky with the businesses youve dealt with. All will be well in the end 🤞.
GrandMattie 💐
Bonnybanks so glad you’re having a lovely time. You are such an upbeat person 👍.
Lovely pic Mizuna.

Enjoy the day 🌸
