Good morning Mick and all to come.
Yesterdays unrelieved rain was thoroughly depressing and it will be a pleasant change to see the sun!
Hairdresser this morning then see if various poorly friends need anything fetched or bought - neighbour on one side is in hospital since last weekend with 1) kidney stones and now 2) a chest infection while my friends on the other side are both laid up with (him) possibly flu and (her) a mystery infection for which she was nearly admitted to hospital on Thursday. It’s very quiet around here.
I hope that those on GN who are unwell or in distress find some solace this weekend and wish you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from s somerset and it may well be a spring-like day today

I settled to sew yesterday and finished my caftan, after going for a walk and dealing with batch two of my slug nematodes.

Today I need to pack the machine away, I cleaned it last night and ran through all the stitch patterns without a needle or bobbin. As it is old I will sometimes need to make sure all parts and cogs are moving. I re-threaded and checked the buttonhole settings and made a nice buttonhole on some scrap

I am not sure about cycling today, the lanes will be manky after all the rain we had. I will get myself out for a bit, even if only to weed

Have a good day

Good morning from a chilly but bright Torbay, with the promise of sunshine! 😎

Yesterday, I had one of the most thorough sessions of physiotherapy I’ve ever experienced as an out patient in that my concerns were addressed in a supportive and thorough fashion. It was heartening to find that, although my right kneecap is suffering from wear and tear, my lower ligaments are functioning fairly well. Tiredness caught up with me later but, by then I’d spent some time mooching around town.

I hope the weekend sees brighter skies for all in every sense. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I’m not sure what I’m doing today.
Have a good day everyone, especially those with difficulties.

May the 4th. be with you!
Good morning from a rarely sunny Bristol. It is so good to see the sun.
Today, it would have been my Philip’s 42nd birthday, the gap is a big but pain less so.
Ash, I’m glad that your physio session went well, but we do find that sort of thing exhausting “at our age”.
After a hard Spanish session, I came home and baked a lemon drizzle cake and my famous Nutella brownies, as well as a pizza for dinner as the oven was on. I also started a squash soup for lunch today. I am having about 8 people to tea and cake as well as the family to lunch to celebrate one year moving into the flat.
May the sun shine on you this weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Cornwall where the sky is blue and sun is promised. Thank you for all your birthday wishes. I had a fun day with my friends and sons. Fascinating seeing the massive changes to our trunk road with my younger son, topped off by a snack at KFC. See pic. The evening was spent with my other son talking about everything from Bavaria to the gene pool and why we are all so different. A really lovely, quirky day.

My granddaughter has asked to come for the day, so I must get out the slime ingredients, clay and flour. I'll also lure her outside if I can, up to the wood above my patio, as the weather is looking so promising.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny hillside in south Glos. It’s looking like we might have a nice day 😊
Well, the summer house erectors didn’t turn up yesterday, apparently they’re ‘both ill’, but no one contacted me until two hours after they should have arrived and I phoned the company. No apologies, just given a provisional date of three weeks time 🤬
Soo I spent the morning trying to get someone else and luckily found someone local (shed company said I would get full refund for the non event)
Local people arrived, unpacked everything, only to discover I have a 10x8 base but the rest is for a 8x6 building. I couldn’t believe it. Phone calls made, no apologies, replacements should arrive in 5-10 working days. I am completely disheartened and disappointed.
I have put everything down in emails to the company but, of course, zero response because a bank holiday weekend.
I will spend the weekend potting up plants (and fuming I suspect!)
DD is here and she cannot believe the incompetence and lack of concern from the company.
I hope you all have a better weekend than me! 🌹

Good morning from North Wales.Another dull day forecast.

We decided not to pop home yesterday and spent a quiet day while DGD was at school. The children both have clubs this morning in our little town so we will call home then. This afternoon we are going to an event to raise money for the local hospice in memory of our daughter’s friend.

Lovely photo Mizuna☺️

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

What shocking service RosesandLilac. I'd be fuming!

Good morning everyone from Adventure in the western Med, another sea-day as we make our leisurely way to southern Spain. It's almost 7.15am here, a bright 🌞 morning and a calm sea.

A restful day yesterday, attended an amusing talk by a retired Saga captain and will go to his second one this afternoon for more anecdotes from his sailing days. After lunch found a sheltered corner on deck and read.
At the singles cocktail hour, was asked to join a group eating in the Nepalese restaurant, and spent a very pleasant evening, followed by the crew show which as.usual was brilliant. We were royally entertained with acts including traditional Filipino dancing, magic, vocalists, and a rather raunchy rendition of YMCA..... Much enjoyed by a packed theatre.

Whilst waiting for the busy lifts afterwards an elderly gentleman somehow lost his footing and fell over right in front of me; I rushed to find crew who dealt with the situation efficiently. I am hoping he is ok; I ended up with a slightly bruised arm, was asked if I needed to be checked, but declined the offer.

Thinking about getting ready to face the day, but am enjoying a TIB!

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning from Malta where it’s sunny and 23°C.

I’m lazing in bed mulling over my to do list and what to tackle first. I’m such a ditherer.

Thursday and Friday were a little different as the co-grandparents came over. They are lovely people and the boys were happy to have the three of us doting on them! Grandfather was busy taking the kitchen apart as we had a little mouse visitor earlier in the week. Nothing found so I hope it left the same way it came in!

GrandMattie, a sad day for you. May Philip rest in peace.🌹

RosesandLilac no wonder you are livid. What a catalogue of disasters. 😞

Lovely photo Mizuna, so glad your birthday was such a happy one.

Ash glad your physio went well.

I’ve got toothache in what seems like every tooth in my mouth. I foresee unplanned for expense looming.😩

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a dreary damp South Yorkshire. Yesterday was the same, with rain in the afternoon. DS is supposed to be coming down today for a football match but yesterday he said he hasn’t been feeling great all week and doesn’t want me to cook for him, which is worrying. Anyway it will be nice to see him, whether I can persuade him to eat or not. I shall be spending most of the day making curry for tomorrow, and hopefully later I shall put out some plants I’ve bought.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Bonnybanko Sat 04-May-24 06:59:08

I’m having the best time ever here in Aberdeen with my dd and 2 grandsons. I went shopping yesterday in the glorious sunshine. I’m off home today but soon after I’ll soon be on the train to Edinburgh to see my favourite ballet, Swan Lake

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 04-May-24 07:08:17

Good morning from sunny Spain, I’ve just got up and will read the posts later.

Have a good day everyone

kittylester Sat 04-May-24 07:13:36

Good morning all from a grey North Leicestershire.

We have Bertie, Persie and Wolfie overnight as it was DSiL's birthday yesterday and he and DD3 are going shopping and out in the evening.

DH was supposed to be in Cheltenham at the Jazz Festival this week end but has a bad cold and is coughing so much that he would be an irritation to any other audience members. He has decided to stay home and cough here instead!

Grandmabatty Sat 04-May-24 07:20:44

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8°, drizzle and mist. GrandMattie 💐. Mizuna a lovely photo. Ash will you need a knee replacement? My friend is waiting for hers to be done.
Yesterday I achieved lots of little things around the house and garden. I managed to cut back brambles which are encroaching from the other side. The lady who lives there ignores her garden and it's full of brambles,so I expect they'll return. Dd called round with dinner for me on her way to soft play with the boys. I'm so glad I wasn't invited!😊
Today, like Bonnybanko I'm off to Edinburgh to see Swan Lake by Scottish Ballet. A friend is treating me which is always nice. He loves theatre and ballet and has no-one to go with, so I'm his culture chum. Afterwards we'll have a fish supper at my house before he drives home. I'm looking forward to it. Have a good day all.

Damp & dismal here in Sefton . It has rained overnight. Rain is not forecast for today but I am not going to risk putting any washing out. I seem to have accumulated rather a lot - does it breed overnight? A busy day yesterday, 2 exercise classes - strength, mobility & balance followed by Flow - then a food shop. A quiet afternoon was interrupted by a last minute request for school pickup for elder granddaughter. A slow day today I think as it's looking so dim & dismal. A visit to the farm shop then perhaps a mooch around a couple of garden centres. We have about half a dozen within easy reach.
Wishing you all a pleasant Bank Holiday weekend.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-May-24 07:22:54

Morning all, there was a round yellow thing in the sky just now but it has disappeared. Yesterday it rained non stop, I got wet numerous times, I was so fed up that I told DH that we are booking a holiday today!

I have no need to go shopping this morning after my very successful shop in the big Sainsbury’s yesterday, including two duvet sets. I was unsure on throws and cushions so will hold off until, the wall s are eventually painted.

Today will be full of memories for you I guess grandMattie 💐 I hope you are not sore after your physio Ashcombe . Oops enjoy the Spanish sunshine. Lovely photo Mizuna

Enjoy starwars day everyone 🧑‍🚀🤖

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny if chilly corner of Somerset

The weather bodes well for a laundry marathon today after a very busy few days in East Anglia where we were treated to warmer, dryer and even sunny weather. A couple of days out, what turned out to be a very emotional visit to our friend and two very late nights in the company of our goddaughter and her husband. Very tired today.

What a shower roses, Appalling service. Sounds a just right birthday mizuna, belated greetings. Hope the pain recedes bellasnana, sounds horrid. A day of mixed emotions grandmattie. Hope mr lester is better soon kitty and doesn't share his germs

Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Grammaretto Sat 04-May-24 07:41:00

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. There's a haar but it's not raining.

DS#3 birthday so I shall phone later.

Usual Saturday things; community café.
I may plant out the peas and beans which are growing in the greenhouse.
I'll need to protect them from the
pigeons.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible.

Jaxjacky Sat 04-May-24 07:42:35

Morning, dry but cool in S Hants.
A year since you moved gMattie you’ve achieved so much, bittersweet.
I’d be hopping mad Roses how frustrating.
Shower room is great, our bedroom is totally clean and tidy, I’m now looking at new bedding and curtains.
Today is newspaper, washing, MrJ is putting rubber roofing on the shed and this afternoon there’s football. His team are playing my team, I think a friend is coming to watch and our grandson too, popcorn at the ready.

Good morning all and the sun is out here in Essex.
We had a very soggy journey back from Suffolk yesterday - it didn’t stop raining until teatime. I left little pooch’s coat and harness at the seaside cottage, so rushed up to town to buy another. While there I took my coat in to have another zip put in. Zips are my ‘bete noire’.

I will shop soon and then sort out the tiny bedroom for dgd1, who is staying tonight. We’re going to watch little dgd’s dance show this evening. Dd will come over this afternoon and we’ll eat before heading out. Mums take it in turn to dress the children one night and watch the following night.

Roseandlilac how frustrating for you. You haven’t been lucky with the businesses youve dealt with. All will be well in the end 🤞.
GrandMattie 💐
Bonnybanks so glad you’re having a lovely time. You are such an upbeat person 👍.
Lovely pic Mizuna.

Enjoy the day 🌸

Good morning from a beautiful morning on the South Downs. Yesterday was sun but a chill wind. Today the wind seems to have gone.

Sat in the conservatory yesterday watching a magpie. He was spending time - and it seems just for fun- swooping onto all the tiny birds in our garden and frightening them off. I thought at first he was after the mealy worms - but no - he sat on the chimney pot then swooped down, frightened them away and repeated for ages. Never attempted to eat the food. I even offered him some mealy worms of his own which were easy to get to - but he ignored them. The only thing not frightened of him was the squirrel who tranquilly sat munching on his peanuts watching the show.

If it is warm enough we will eat in the garden today. We rarely go anywhere weekends or bank holidays - we leave it to the working folk. My DS is off to a Greek island I think for a week or so, having just come back from Provence. DD is staying in the U.K. but I can’t remember what she is doing. Must have a chat to see what is going on.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony
