Tepid beverages! ☕️🫖🧋

I am so tired of making myself a mug of tea, or of coffee, putting it down and forgetting about it - until it is tepid and undrinkable.
I do it in the morning -TIB -lovely! But not an hour later when it’s no longer hot.
Back from shopping, well earned cuppa - so why is it beside the kettle in the kitchen?
Worst of all is finding a cold cup of coffee in the Nespresso machine - and in all these cases you CANT reheat them in the microwave.
Should I get an insulated mug? Or set an alarm?

I’ve just been out to an allotment veg sale, made a cup of tea, sat down and drunk it with my very late breakfast, now I’m off to plant.
Mine would be white wine merlot now that has to be cold!

Oh how many things in life are “not difficult” - how easy some peoples lives must be.

When life gets difficult I stick the kettle on!

Either that or reach for the gin which surprisingly never gets left unattended! 😂😂

I don’t make a hot drink until I know I’m going to sit/stand and drink it, then I do it, not difficult.

That’s my problem. I get bored just having a hot drink unless it’s accompanying something I’m doing like putting shopping away or preparing veg or decorating or sowing seeds in the greenhouse. The list is endless and so are the convenient places to leave a half drunk coffee. 😂

There is a “window” when, like Goldilocks says , it is “just right”, she knew where I am coming from.
RosiesMaw Yes, I think you should change your username to Goldilocks
😂

The Goldilocks Zone - the zone at which water remain liquid.

The cold cup of coffee found in the machine could be turned into an iced coffee maybe?

Georgesgran Sat 11-May-24 08:51:36

Last night I realised I was missing 2 of my china mugs.
Found one, full of cold tea on my desk and the other, half full, upstairs on the landing drawers!
It’s that optimum temperature Maw.

kittylester Sat 11-May-24 08:45:59

I know where you are coming from, Maw.

merlotgran Sat 11-May-24 08:42:41

I even find half drunk mugs of coffee in the microwave that I’ve forgotten about.

RosiesMaw Sat 11-May-24 08:34:10

Nearly made it today.
But in answer to the “helpful” suggestions
Too hot is just that, too hot.
I don’t like tepid or cold tea or coffee so why exhort me to “drink, it up”
(Pouring it down the sink makes more sense., but I have thought of that one myself thank you)
And reheated in the microwave , as some have pointed out, alters the flavour.

Just drink it up hot or cold.

Or when you make it don't potter about and abandon it, take it with you then sit down and drink it.

Greyduster Sat 11-May-24 07:40:05

I don’t mind tepid coffee and as I drink tea without milk, I am happy to drink it warm or cold (I often have a jug of iced tea in the fridge). GrannyActivist when I looked at that mug I remembered some we once bought from a Chinese emporium that had lids on. They did keep the drink hot. Can’t seem to find them now.

I always make my early morning tea ... best cup of tea of the day!.. sit down, get up to date on gransnet and drink it. Perfect smile

I only drink coffee, I hate tea, and like it at any temperature, from boiling hot to ice cream.
I’m OK with a drink lasting for hours until it is stone cold.

NotAGran55

Totally agree 👌
I’m also a non tea drinker & can also take my Coffee any which way , it can of been sitting for an hour & I will still drink it . Iced coffee is a thing in but house but I would never order when our as they just “ slosh” coffee onto ice cubes !
Coffee in cafes needs to be hot though & if making from a machine ie barista style or Nespresso / caffetiere the art is to warm the jug/ mug/ cup with water from a boiled kettle .

Callistemon21 Fri 10-May-24 23:06:51

Coffee's ok, tea not so good.

RosiesMaw, make a drink, then sit down with Wordle, Connections, a crossword, newspaper, (even Gransnet!) Drink beverages while they are hot.
Then resume normal duties.

Repeat as and when desired.

Shelflife

A family member bought me a mug warmer , Iove it ! Make my drink, pop it on , brilliant! It allows me to answer the phone, empty the washer etc. I come back and my tea / coffee is piping hot! Look in Amazon or Google mug warmer. It's the best gift ever !!😊

But you can still drink coffee, tea / gin while on the phone
Loading the dishwasher etc 🤣

Set the timer to remind you 🙂
Then, when it goes off, look in the oven, thinking you must have put something in there to bake but find nothing. 🤔

I thought it was going to be about tepid cups of coffee in cafés!

I also had that thought as Coffee Shop / Cafe Coffee is invariably tepid , my DD always asks for extra hot 🥵

Fidelity2 Fri 10-May-24 22:59:46

I reheat mine in the microwave. tea and coffee taste just fine !

DH is always leaving his then drinks it cold. Disgusting.

Casdon Fri 10-May-24 22:37:05

I’m always leaving mine too, but I drink black coffee, and I reheat it in the microwave if it goes tepid, as long as you do it for only about 20 seconds and don’t let it boil it’s fine, it doesn’t affect the taste.

grannyactivist Fri 10-May-24 22:26:31

Ah - it’s not just me then. 😜
A friend who knows me well bought me a mug with a lid for my birthday a couple of years ago (also has a strainer for my green tea). It really does keep my tea hot enough that when I finally get around to drinking it it’s still warm. (Mine’s like this, but a pretty shade of blue.)

creativeness Fri 10-May-24 22:25:16

I’m sometimes do this too!!
