Teenage pop star crushes…( a very shallow thread…)

I just checked out Cat Stevens, as he seems quite a popular guy.
He was handsome.

At the age of 7, I was going to marry George Harrison but by age 11 I'd ditched him for Barry Gibb (pre disco)!

Oddly my music crushes were/are not my type in real life. Paul Weller, Eminem, Donny Munroe....eclectic range of music.

However, a year or so ago i saw (on TV) Morten Harket singing acoustically, i was never a fan back in the day, but he was so good and i will admit to a 'ooooh i say.....' moment! He is now on my list of people i want to see live.

Andy Fairweather-Lowe here too, not good looking as such, but pre-pubescent me was probably having a crush and not knowing why!

Agree with so many suggestions. Paul Jones, Davy Jones (thought he sang Daydream Believer for me 😍), George Harrison, Paul Rodgers, David Cassidy, David Essex (still gorgeous) and Louella12 mentioned Pete Duel - I was also devastated when he died.

Was old yeller a dog?

He was. They then made a film called Savage Sam which wasn’t as popular but it’s the one I remember and loved ( sings ‘there’s a hound dog back in Texas tiddly pom’). The internet is such a Time Machine. I watched Tommy Kirk and Savage Sam tonight. I think I rather liked Kevin Corcoran who always played Tommy Kirk’s younger brother, too. I’m going to get the grandchildren so watch Swiss Family Robinson to see if they like it.

Another Cat Stevens fan here. I too had a gorgeous poster of him.
But my biggest crush was Jonny Walker, his was the only fan club I ever joined. I fell in love with his voice and would have my little radio glued to my ear every night for his ‘Goodnight spot’ on Radio Caroline & loved Frinton Flashing as well. Can anyone else remember those pirate radio days? He played some wonderful soul music. It was years before I would listen to Radio 1.

DH and I saw Andy Fairweather Lowe years ago at The Sage, Gateshead. He was so changed that he took his hat off and leaned into the audience and said ‘yes, it really is him!’ However, he sounded exactly the same.

I’ve just found an interview with Tommy Kirk that he gave when he was 60. He was still lovely. I must have had good taste when I was little. He had a bad few years when he came out but seems to have overcome it eventually. I’ve got the dvd of Old Yeller but haven’t plucked up the courage to watch it.

I absolutely adored Adam Faith and won a competition in one of the teenage magazines, the prize was a massive photo of him which my Dad had framed for my bedroom wall. I still have it (not on my bedroom wall!!)

Gary Puckett. Although listening to the lyrics of the songs now is totally cringe worthy. Paul McCartney. Although he was too old for me, still is come to think of it!
