Ick= yuk? We use yucky more. Or,simply, crap. I think honey is yucky. Tried to like it but, no. Nasty sickly stuff.

So agree with Petra - cooking shows have them, advertisements have them - horrendous. I remember years ago that there was a woman who was showing football players how to behave (they had no idea) after they started earning mega bucks. Brilliant. Everyone should follow it. And please, please include the ghastly exposure of tattoos. If you want to self-harm, keep it under cover. Someone said years ago that she had a tattoo of a pheasant on her arm and that now, 30 years later, it looks more like road kill!!! Young take note!!

I’m sure most of us know very well what the ick is. We’re just going along with what the OP obviously wanted - a light-hearted discussion about what makes our skin crawl.

Some fabrics, such as shiny polyester (as in cheap ties) give me the ick, can't abide the squeak of polystyrene either. But the real, back of the calves tingle of ick goes to children running with anything sharp.

One thing guaranteed to make me heave is the sound of someone with thick mucus; there was a reporter reading the news a few weeks ago who was obviously chock full and in need of a good blow of his nose, and it made my eyes water (and stomach lurch) just hearing it. Had to turn it off.

Oh, and I used to love Ally McBeal!

I can't stand it when people wear strong perfumes in confined spaces. Youth Dew is so cloying it makes me want to fling a window open and stick my head out for fresh air. When he lived at home teenage son polluted upstairs every morning with great blasts of Lynx deodorant.

oh yes, when DH stirs a pot of soup ( in a metal pan) with a fork ( no, i don't know why), the squeaks..........

In that case, then, its hairy nostrils.
Particularly ones witj hairs that poke out of said nostrils.

Too many tattoos, especially a tattooed face and tattooed all over a bald head.

I dont like the neck tatts, that look as if the person has had a head transplant.
The whole neck filled in up to their chin, almost.

Also, the stretched earlobe so you can see through to the other side.

In my dating days, one rather lovely potential boyfriend only lasted one date because of his shoes. Those thick ones with stitching which looked like he was wearing Cornish pasties. Ick

I'm like that with wooden utensils, stirrers and lolly sticks.
I use the wrapper to hold the stick on ice lollies. My family do the stirring for me or I use a serviette to hold them.
I seem to be ok with varnished wooden handles, but not with raw wood. It just gives me a horrible feeling!
