Crikey! That's awful.

I’m amazed that Tatler thought it good enough to put on their cover.

I really don't like it. In fact I think it is awful shock

It looks more like Meghan to me! grin sorry!

The eyes are all wrong.

They must have a bit of a laugh, the royals, looking at some of these paintings.

Allsorts Wed 22-May-24 16:18:55

Awful! Was she paid?

Charleygirl5 Wed 22-May-24 16:13:03

Horrendous- does not look like her at all, totally expressionless.

very poor... no likeness or painterly qualities

I don't think I'd have recognised that it was meant to be the Princess of Wales. It looks like GCSE art coursework.

Younger son got an A in GSCE art and was brilliant. He could actually draw people and it looked like them!

It's like a badly drawn doll!

No, there is no expression, like a wax work

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 22-May-24 15:38:44

Who is it supposed to be? Dear oh dear.

A portrait takes a great deal of preparation :

It's important to do several sketches to capture the likeness and spirit of the sitter .
Colour studies are vital too .
This portrait is absolutely appalling - too flat and lacking any dimension , poor interpretation of colour - it's nothing like her and it doesn't capture her essence or mood in any way .
I can only identify her by the presence of her tiara and gown , which could be applied to other Royal female .

There are many superb portrait artists out there including a member of my family !
I don't consider myself a good portrait painter - still life is my preferred subject , but I think that even I could do a better job !

Goodness, that’s appallingly bad.

merlotgran Wed 22-May-24 15:21:34

Looks nothing like her.

mrshat Wed 22-May-24 15:19:25

Hideous!

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 22-May-24 15:17:39

I agree. It’s dreadful. So it only took two or three days to paint - perhaps, if there is a next time, take rather longer.

MissAdventure Wed 22-May-24 15:16:25

No, I think it's awful.

Calendargirl Wed 22-May-24 15:15:00

Wouldn’t have recognised her, apart from the outfit and tiara.

RosiesMaw Wed 22-May-24 15:14:42

No, it’s amateurish and frankly awful!

Urmstongran Wed 22-May-24 15:04:36

On the front of Tatler today?
I don’t!
It’s flat, looks nothing like her and look amateurish. I've seen better portraits in my local church hall fetes. Yes, I understand that good drawing is considered naff, but that portrait is simply clumsy.

Ms Uzor the artist, who was chosen to paint the Princess of Wales, had just three weeks to complete the commission for Tatler. It wasn’t a commission by the RF.

She told the magazine that she was “unfazed”, adding: “Once I start painting, it will only take me two or three days.”

Oh dear. It shows in my opinion.

What do you think?
