Good Morning Thursday 23rd May 2024
(43 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
I`ve woken to dry but grey cloud morning here in brackley.
The usual routine for me going to Bicester which town centre wise is very quiet ,as most seem to shop either online or use the sops located on the outside of the town .
Watch the cycling unfold with the race in Italy finishing at the weekend .
Take Care,
Mick
A very late good morning from rainy Lancashire. I had a rather bad night so have been catching up on some sleep.
Will read the thread with my coffee.
Good morning from a wet, wet, wet north of Scotland.
Those few days of sun were uplifting. Back to grey and like so many of you, wardrobe sifting. I need to accept that I am unlikely to be a size eight again.
Off to have an early lunch and enjoy some tennis.
Grammaretto you’d be most welcome! I have a spare room.😄
Good morning Mick and all from a windy, chilly northwest coast. We seem to have returned to winter…
Before DD returned to the south yesterday, we arranged holiday stuff, insurance, parking etc for our family holiday abroad next month. DGD has had her university finals, so she can relax with us.
In the evening, I went to the live screening of “A Winter’s Tale” the ballet from Covent Garden which I thought was wonderful,
especially enjoyable as the male principal dancer is a local boy.
Thoughts to all as always🌺
Good morning from a grey but dry West Yorkshire on our way north to Scotland. We stayed last night with my cousin and her husband, she is childminding her 4 year old DGD today so we are going to meet up with them shortly for a stroll and coffee.
We camped very near to you on Tuesday night, Mick. It poured all night but our van, unlike some of the structures mentioned above, is rainproof and cosy. Sorry for Grammaretto and RosesandLilac - both suffering from ingress of rain 🙁
Twin DGSs in Scotland have their last exam today (they are doing National 5s which is equivalent to GCSE, I think. Not quite as scary as your DGSs Highers Grammaretto. I remember them well from 1968 when I sat mine (and did better than I expected, or than some of my teachers thought I deserved 😂).
Have the best day you can and may the sun shine again in the British Isles, soon!
I’m envious Liberty . Best fish and chips around. My mouth is watering just thinking about it 🤣🤣. Enjoy!
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp out, not actually raining now and Alexa tells me it’s a chilly ish 10°C rising to the dizzy heights of 12°C later today.
We are enjoying our TIB these days which is why I can’t see the train station platforms over the road with coming and goings.
Our Yorkshire Lass has just messaged Himself from our Málaga apartment “enjoying breakfast and coffee in the morning sun on the balcony, watching and listening to the swifts. Perfect start to our day”.
Tomorrow is half term (Whit) holidays in Trafford schools. L’il Miss and her mum have 2 weeks off but the Boy Wonder at his high school only has one week. They are all off to a nice hotel in Lytham at the weekend to give the holiday a kick start.
Thursday = date night for us. We sometimes arrange to have friends join us. Tonight we are just lovebirds. 🥰 We go out around 6pm and are back home before 9pm as more than that tires Himself but hey - look at what we CAN do! It’s amaz and we are so very grateful for any of life’s blessings.
Enjoy the day folks whether you have plans or none.
Morning from an overcast S Hants, it was bright sun forty minutes ago, we didn’t get heavy rain until much later yesterday and not for that long.
I can sense your anticipation gMattie 🙂
Enjoy your family visit Bonny.
Trading Standards Roses?
Yesterday was library, local shops and kitchen cleaning.
Today hasn’t started well 🙂 my favourite jeans have totally worn out and been consigned to the bin!
Dental hygienist this afternoon, not my favourite.
🦩🦩
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very soggy. We had 24 hours of rain and even Alexa told me about the flood warning!
I went out to post a card yesterday and someone came so fast through the village I was splashed from head to foot when he went through a big puddle.
Another quiet day today before heading off to the family for the weekend.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone from a cloudy and overcast Northampton, also really windy. Forecast to be dry so I have put the towels in the washing machine.
As predicted, the gardener did not come yesterday, due to the continual heavy rain, so I am waiting with bated breath to see if he messages me with a new date.
I managed to give my en-suite a deep clean and then dusted and.tidied the bedrooms. Spent the afternoon reading and have only a few pages left to read now; I shall be glad to finish the book as I have not enjoyed it.
Not sure how I shall spend the day.
Hope.whatever comes your way today is good.
Cool and grey morning and no plans so an indoor day, I think, where the inside of the windows reproach me; I have to do this job in several stages these days but could at least deal with downstairs. Otherwise there is plenty to read.
Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly, grey corner of Somerset It’s hard to believe it was hot and sunny just three days ago.
Our friends had some delays on their journey yesterday and were more than flustered when the arrived. We soon settled into our usual chatty, happy time together. The showers mattered not at all.
A different day ahead. I need to sort out home insurance and prepare for a call from a medic I find unsympathetic and often rude. I’ll not relax until that one is over then I suspect we’ll wander out for a stretch and a cuppa.
roses please fight the summerhouse issue. It’s definitely not fit for purpose and must be very upsetting. A sad morning ahead for you, hope all goes as well as these things can.
Enjoy what you can of the day everyone.
Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
Yesterday we had torrential rain all day.
Went shopping with SIL and then got on with some little jobs around the house. I have a subscription for Private eye for my sister in Germany and it needed renewing, so much easier than buying magazine and posting it to her.
SIL went in the attic and found old computer software and cables, he carried a crate away to bin/recycle. DH never binned anything 🤔
CCTV maintenance this afternoon other than that a quiet day.
Have a good day.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it has been raining solidly since yesterday and the buckets beneath the sitting room ceiling have filled once again. I have new roofers to try today. 🌧
I think I'll come to stay with you Bellasnanna 🌞 ☀️
Yesterday's afternoon tea at the Signet Library was sublime. Masterchef meets Downton Abbey but meanwhile my poor lodger and her friend were dealing with the deluge here.
Glad your problem with Octopus is resolved Georgesgran . Marydoll let's pray you can sort things out with Virgin! and DH hearing
Dgs has finished his Highers. Hooray!
Yoga this morning.
Wishing you all a happy day whatever the weather.
Good morning from a grey and cloudy Suffolk where I’m hoping it stays dry as I’m meeting 2 friends for a fish and chip lunch at the beach cafe in Dunwich.*Gingster*knows it well.
But first it’s my stretch class,my usual Thursday morning exercise. I do this, and my keep fit class, not in the hope I’ll become more supple, but in the hope they delay further physical decrepitude somewhat!
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from a cloudy Algarve. Over the years the weather is far more unpredictable here. Days of wall to wall sunshine cannot be taken for granted. However I am grateful for no rain! Today we will drive out to our favourite walk, enjoy the views and have a coffee or maybe a beer. Time for us.
Roses - so sorry about the summerhouse so frustrating. Do hope you get a response from the company who supplied it
Hope everyone has a good day
Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country after a day of continual rain yesterday.
Sorting out clothes to take away with us as we are off to Bristol this afternoon to see Hamilton. Stay overnight, then onto Somerset for a few days in the caravan.
Wishing you all the best day possible
Good morning from a cold, wet , windy & miserable Sefton. Another wet & windy day is forecast. Oh joy. A very busy day yesterday with exercise classes & a nursery pickup. We had no option but to go out & run the gauntlet of the really vile weather. Really feel for people in areas which have had it worse.
Zumba class, fish man & a food shop but that is definitely it for today. Think the heating may have to go back on temporarily. Eventually saw Urms news yesterday. So pleased for you both. Must be such a relief.
Hoping today is kind to everyone
Good morning from a grey W Kent. Off to art this morning, the number going now is shrinking I wonder how long we will keep going. Probably a quiet afternoon to follow.
Best wishes to all
Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire, what a horrible change of weather.
Some of our yarn group spent the evening with the local Guides whose leaders had asked if we could get them started on a project. I came home exhausted from the effort of trying to teach my table of eight girls how to make a chain. Some of them quite understandably couldn’t get to grips with it while others were off making circles already.
DSoutL is scheduled to play a golf match early evening so has called on us to be with the children as DD is in the office today but I’m thinking the course may be waterlogged.
If it goes ahead I’ll miss my yarn group meeting this evening but will see the children again which more than compensates.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from Malta where it’s going to be a scorcher 29°C.
It’s my long day with the boys today. Might take them out early as it is soon going to be too hot.
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning all from an overcast Black country.
Shopping today, friends coming later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from a grey but dry Colchester.
I didn't get to Aldi yesterday as it rained all day, so I'll go first thing. I have a lunchtime optician appointment and will change our bedding. Think that'll be enough excitement for one day 😆.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 11°C.
Rose&lilac, what a pity about your summer house. I would be raging.
I meant to say yesterday Susan, that I was so sorry your holiday had been cut short. How disappointing.
We have Babydoll today, a trip to Dollie's sports day was planned, but it has been cancelled, due to a yellow weather warning, Disappointment all round.
It is probably for the best, she has been under the weather and chesty. We have renamed her, Snotty Lotty.
She is indeed her daddy's girl, she is the image of him.
DS2 was a very poorly child, always wheezy and unwell, a nebuliser and Epipen were part of the medical equipment at home.
When I look at her, I get flashbacks of various crises and become quite emotional.
Hopefully she hasn't inherited all DS's allergies.
Thank you Georgegran. Yesterday was not as stressful.
However, I was sitting in the pharmacy, when one of my former pupils came in. He had changed physically, but his pacing up and down triggered a memory.
His sister was also a former pupil, who died of cancer, leaving two young children. One day I got a call at school, she told me she had weeks to live and asked if I could keep an eye on her children at school, after she had died.
I was distraught that day, when I came off the phone.
The young man started to tell me all his troubles. He had been addicted to alcohol and street valium, after his girlfriend stabbed him. Realising how awful his life was, he had gone to his mum ( a very formidable lady and asked for help,)
He was admitted to a hospital alcohol unit, was now clean and had a job.
I told him how brave he was and that I was proud that he had turned his life around.
I felt really sad driving home. DH was waiting for me as I got out of the car.
^I have two missed phone calls from Virgin Media on my phone, I never heard them, but I am not deaf
What could I say? I am resigned to the fact my email account won't be sorted.
My NHS account is linked to that account, which will cause all sorts of problems.
I wish you all a good and day and a special mention to my GN pal, who is quite poorly.💐
