How often do you wear perfume

Yesterday we went out for dinner (actually it was street food, eaten in a shelter on the seafront šŸ˜‚) and to celebrate the occasion I spritzed on a bit of perfume. Similarly my husband used an expensive aftershave (usually he only bothers for weddings and funerals).

Anyway, it got me thinking. It takes me a couple of years to get through a bottle of perfume, I’ve got lots of it (mostly gifts from family and friends) and it’s all good stuff. So I have decided that (if I can remember) I’m going to wear perfume every day!!

Today I’m in my scruffy painting smock, but if this was smellyvision you would smelling Jo Malone’s Pear and Freesia. šŸ˜‚

I love Chanel’s Allure, but I worry that they may be phasing it out as they’ve stopped the soap and body lotion. Boots only stock the smaller bottles now.

I wear it every day

Awwww… my dad bought Beautiful for both me and my sister on our wedding days!
Used to travel a lot, but we don’t at all now so haven’t had it for years. But my birthday is coming up, so might drop a few wee hints!

Every day. I am in to Coco now but used to wear Arpege for years when the family were growing up. Then it was discontinued until the company bought it back some years later. My DD got me some but it didn’t smell the same. ā€œIt doesn’t make you smell like Mum any moreā€ was the verdict.

I wear it everyday and even spray myself when come out the shower no matter if it’s morning or evening

Clarins Eau Dynamisante for every day and Angel by Thierry Mugler for special evenings. I find the latter a bit heavy for daytime use but love it.

So many People So many different tastes and ideas
I have a large family and some . in the past, would buy me perfume as a present...... they had not noticed that I didn't wear it
... so the collection grew and grew.

Elder daughter discovered it one day when she was about 10?
Lined all her sibs up and anointed them liberally, boys as well . wow... the house smelt so artificiial
I asked whose idea it was but answer came there none. My children are still as loyal to each other

Last year... some 40 years + later, elder daughter came with a bundle of assorted perfumes + some flowers and apologies to say she was the one.
The assorted smells are reinstated in the bathroom and will await an inquisitive grandchild..... just as I had discovered my aunts ',April in Paris or some such name and daughter had liberally distributed mine.

dH loves the smells sometimes and on other occasions complains of how overpowering they are This is odd because I have never used any for years.

He is also the one who asked me why I had taken up smoking Uh?? and only the 2 of us in the house

Am now trying to work out how to stop both his carer and my cleaner appearing and announcing their presence in advance by their chosenhighly- flavoured 'dip;'

When collecting our prescriptions I saw that the local chemist had got numerous fancy type bottles on show ( ex christmas?} at at least 70% off
Wait long enough and all mysteries will be revealed

Unfortunately, I am allergic to most perfumes and some of the ingredients in. I used to love dabbing some on . Now going to the cinema, show, even medical appointments and I have to take strong anti histamines which don't always work. Me changing places with others in the family/friends to avoid strong perfume has become a bit of a joke. Really miss perfume and scented creams etc.but compared to other issues people have, just an inconvenience and just get on with life.

Most days but I have to remember to wear it - my favourite is Alien by Mugler

I never wear perfume. Years ago, my mother developed allergies against most perfumes, then I did, and DH got migranes due to perfumes.

There are one or two frangrances I can safely use 4711 and a Spanish perfume that I cannot remember the name of, it is so long since I used it.

Always enjoyed wearing perfume until I became aware of this (and shortly after my husband bought be a huge bottle of J’adore) that it can be toxic to health. So I tend not to spray directly onto my neck and lymph glands. I do more of a general air spray around me.

ā€œFragrances are linked to a staggering number of health risks. Across multiple research studies, synthetic chemicals used to make fragrances are classified as allergens, hormone disruptors, asthma triggers, neurotoxins & carcinogens. The punchline: fragrances are highly toxic and can cause allergic reactions.ā€

A young friend of mine once told me to spray upwards into the air to make a cloud and then walk through it. It works, but best to take your glasses off first ... I rarely remember though, it seems most of the places I go now require dressing down instead of up to fit in.

I dab on some essential oil, my choice is always geranium and lavender, love it.
My last proper perfume was Je Reviens, a very very long time ago!

Every day. Don’t consider myself dressed without it.

Lyndie Sun 02-Jun-24 17:46:59

Everyday. I wear Guvenchy Very Irrisistible or Armani Si at the moment.

Lyndie Sun 02-Jun-24 17:47:23

Givenchy!

knspol Sun 02-Jun-24 19:42:35

Every day. Usually just a Jo Malone either Lime, Basil &Mandarin or else their Wood Sage. Chanel No 5 for special occasions.

Spencer2009 Sun 02-Jun-24 20:37:58

Wear it everyday

Harmonypuss Sun 02-Jun-24 21:07:50

Practically never, i use a body spray if I'm leaving the house and that's it.
No-one ever buys me perfume, and the last bottle I bought was in the mid-90s, just a cheap Body Shop one, and I've still got about 1/3 of the bottle (it still smells ok, I just had a sniff).

lemsip Sun 02-Jun-24 22:03:42

I shower every day with a nice smelling shower gel so don't wear perfume every day.

Jannicans Sun 02-Jun-24 22:14:29

Never now I know child labour is used to pick the flowers overnight and children are falling asleep in class and developing severe allergies. Children as young as five.

Kent75 Sun 02-Jun-24 23:01:44

I wear perfume most days. When I need a confidence boost I spay a little extra of my Coco Madmoiselle or Allure. I haven’t found A Jo Malone scent that I love as a perfume. Sprayed Pomegranate Noir yesterday, lovely, but I am not sure that it beats Chanel!

Maggiemaybe Sun 02-Jun-24 23:35:08

I do like it. smile

Phew, MissA, I’m so glad.

suelld Mon 03-Jun-24 00:05:41

I only wear it when I go out, and even then it depends on where to and with whom…
