Good Morning Sunday 26th May 2024
(34 Posts)Good morning from an overcast Whiddon Down where we had heavy showers early evening which stopped as I went to bed, thankfully, so I slept well.
The cream tea was enjoyable - well, the tea was hot and strong, which suited me and the company was interesting. I resisted the food; it was mid afternoon and I wasn’t hungry and didn’t want to risk the cream!
Later, I had a Zoom call with DH which is our daily routine when apart.
A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩
Good morning from a dull Bristol. Overnight rain and more on the way. It really doesn’t seem fair that half terms and long weekends always seem rubbish, weather wise, does it?
I was very busy up yesterday. I changed my bed, washed the sheets, then went to town to get some backing fabric for my quilt; then went to see an old man whose late wife was a patchworker. As he was downsizing, he wanted someone to enjoy some of her stash. Came home to bring the bedding in, iron the tablecloth and pillowcases and have lunch.
In the afternoon, after a nap, I finished the 20 blocks I need for my quilt. The DS came over.
We sat outside with a cuppa. He said he needed to do some marking - he marks and is in charge of a group of markers for the International Baccalaureate - it pays for his holidays…. I carried on sewing.
I then made dinner; he had requested asparagus, lamb chops, mashed potatoes and courgettes. I obliged.
We watched one of the Rob/Rylan programmes before he fell into bed - he is still 4.5 hours ahead and adjusting. I followed soon after.
Today will be anticlimactic as he goes back on time to see Iris do something for the service at her mum’s church.
I hop3 the weathe4 doesn’t dampen your weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning, it’s gray and damp here in south Glos , rain forecast for later.
I planted out about half of my potted plants yesterday, I’m definitely running out of spaces now.
My lovely neighbour and his sons kindly moved my staddle stone along the patio with a sack track and lots of manpower, I am so grateful. There’s absolutely no way we could have shifted it!
I have two which we brought from the farm 28 years ago so now they’re at each end and it makes the patio look much bigger.
Today I need to do some housework and tidying, DH will walk the dog.
Chicken and chips for dinner, I cba to do a roast this weekend. I will make a lemon cheesecake for dessert.
Enjoy your day 🌹
Good morning all from the Black country rain overnight and more to follow.
DH has a fishing contest so early start, he has decided against fishing due to the weather but as he is fishing secretary and takes another member he needs to be there.
My plans were to go to the local farmers and craft market but they may change, will see what the weather is doing later.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings after I've had some breakfast.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from Malta where it is sunny and going to reach 27°C later.
Enjoyed coffee with my friend yesterday, then we both walked down to the shop for some bits we needed.
I spent some time cleaning outside my front door as it was full of sand. It took longer than usual as a couple of my neighbours stopped for a chat which was lovely.
In the afternoon I had a visit from DD3 and the boys. Littlest one had been plaguing her asking for ‘Nana’ all day, bless him. They spent a couple of hours running around and didn’t want to leave!
I’m still in bed having my tea but will go to Mass later after which my weekly FaceTime call with my friend in Leicester, followed by tennis from Paris.
Wishing you all a good day. ☀️
Good morning from s somerset, it rained all night and will be torrential later
I dodged scam bullets yesterday, phone calls followed by a phishing message. I have done a lot of number blocking and also blocked future messages by turning on blocking for any with number witheld. I did not answer any of them. I rang my bank and my cc had to be cancelled after several fraudulent attempts. It all happened within a few hours. I am wondering if anything to do with dell being hacked and my details compromised. It shook me up tbh
The rest of the day was lovely, in that I did a lovely ride and plenty of nice sewing. Today I have a sewing room to clean and routine house cleaning
Have a good day
Good morning from a wet South Downs. Quite a change from the last few glorious days.
Our neighbour came in yesterday and kindly cleared our gutters for us. These are the type of jobs that gets beyond one as you age, so we were very grateful. So the rain is now draining as it should rather than spilling over the top of the gutter.
I planted some of the dahlias yesterday so they will get nicely watered in. I also have some ferns intended to plant under a holly tree, where is remains shaded for most of the day. In front of the ferns are Asarum, which are like shiny green pennies. I must bung in some good garden compost to help with keeping the ferns moist before I plant them though.
Son came for a meal - roast pork - and it was good to catch up with all his news about his travels etc. Next Saturday I think we are booked to eat out with our daughter.
Rain forecast for much of the day, so might do a bit of housework, and maybe make a start on a quilt for the garden seat. - I have all the material so no excuse.
Fledglings still very demanding. They are a dull brown with white chin as opposed to their parents a shiny metallic black/blue. Most are bigger than their parents, as all they do is sit around and eat. Yesterday about half a dozen or so found the bird bath, and paddled around for ages as their parent stuffed mealy worms down their throats.
I’ve been awake for ages, so no doubt will flag early this evening, but being retired is matters not a jot🙂. Such a lovely existence.
Enjoy your day all
Peace and harmony to everyone
Good morning from a wet Oxfordshire, my plans for weeding will have to be shelved.
I set up the new PC yesterday so I might do the Tax Returns……
I also need to do some cooking for the freezer so that might be this afternoon, or I might leave it until tomorrow, it’s all fresh veg so I can’t wait too long before cooking it all up ready for when MzOops comes back to stay.
Dog will be here later for her weekly sleepover so a dog walk this afternoon, let’s hope it isn’t too wet.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable Sunday.
Good morning all it’s going to be another hot day here on the east coast of Fife with light rain falling which will be good for the garden I’m now going to put the remaining begonias into the extra pots I have, or at least my young helper will.
I’m off to church in the morning after a breakfast of poached egg on toast, freash orange juice, a nice shower and hair washed
Blessings to you all
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and raining. It looks like it will be on for a while. Karma they are relentless, those scammers.
The last couple of days have been busy with the boys. They've been very good, on the whole. Dgs1 was very excited to find peas growing outside. He spotted them pushing through the soil before I did. After DD picked them up, I had a nap then set to work to clear up the mayhem left behind.
Today I will visit mum this afternoon, but I have no plans. I think I'll make lemon drizzle cake. It's the Mary Berry recipe and it always turns out. I roasted trout fillets yesterday so I'll have one with salad for dinner tonight. I made my own tartare sauce and it is very nice, so I'll have some with the trout. A fairly quiet day ahead. Have a good day all.
Good morning from rainy Colchester. A wet day forecast. We are supposed to be going to DGS3's last football match of the season which has was postponed until today because of the weather. I'm hoping it's called off.
We'll go over anyway as it was his birthday yesterday and we have presents to deliver.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 16°C.
Yesterday the sun shone all day, though a strong wind made it feel rather cold. Good drying weather 😊 It was a quiet afternoon here, apart from the trains. Most unusual on a sunny day, I think people would have been watching the football.
Today is Whit Sunday, a day when families used to dress in their finery for church.
Happy Sunday, whatever you’re doing🌻
Good morning from the NE where we had overnight rain and the forecast is for more rain today.
Quiet day yesterday, ran the vacuum around upstairs and cleaned the bathrooms. I then prepared a courgette Provencal ready for tonight's dinner.
DS and family are coming at lunchtime and we are all going to a concert, the Northern Symphonia are playing the Four Seasons.
GD2 passed her Grade 5 piano with merit and will be very happy when I see her today.
It is my sister and BIL's sapphire wedding anniversary today, I will send a greeting as they are on holiday in Ayrshire.
Have s good day.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a wet South Yorkshire. Yesterday the weather was kind to us and we managed to get two coats of paint on the fence. I say “we” - DD did the bulk of it. I was ordered to do only the bits I could reach! SiL came over and pitched in until he had to pick up GS up from work by which time I had retreated indoors to cook a roast chicken dinner. By eight o’clock I was falling asleep but managed to hang on until nine before I went to bed! Today I intend to do a lot of nothing. I have knitting to catch up on.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from a damp, dull W Kent. We enjoyed our day with DGS5. A sandwich lunch out and then he was glued to the Cup Final. Today we are off to cat sit for DS, not sure why but we have more luggage than when we go on holiday.
Stay dry if you can
Good morning all from a grey and wet North Leicestershire.
Luckily, yesterday was fine as DD2 & 3 did their sponsored abseil in the Derbyshire Dales. They were raising money for the charity set by their friend who has MND. They exceeded their target of £500 so we're very pleased. DGD2 and DGS4 did it with them. I made hotdogs (with onions) for 11 before we went.
Today some of them are going to see Take That so I am on cooking duty again - cheese and ham toasties have been requested this time.
An early night beckons I think.
Morning from a wet S Hants, rain overnight, hopefully no more, we have the family here for a bbq, timed to finish before the football at 3.
Yesterday was glorious, bedding washed, dried, no ironing gMattie, it just went straight back on.
It’s me v slugs in the garden, why they can’t eat weeds I don’t know.
🦩🦩
Good morning from Shropshire.Raining again🤷♀️
We had a lovely day yesterday.DH and DGD got all the plug plants planted, lawns were mowed and I kept everyone fed.DD had time to sit and chat for a few hours which was lovely as normally she is rushing from one thing to another. After DD and the children had gone home we cleaned up the carnage.I then had a nap!DH still had some energy left so spent another couple of hours in the garden.
We are hoping for a quiet couple of days before both DD’s and families descend later in the week to celebrate DH’s 70th birthday. It doesn’t seem long since he was 60!
We have had several phishing messages this week karma.it’s horrible, they seem so genuine and it does leave you feeling shaken.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud, hoping it stays dry.
Those scammers are awful karma, so prolific these days
I’m going round to DD2s again this morning, still helping with getting the house sorted to go up for sale. Then later the DGC are coming round to eat and probably stay over, it’s school as usual for them tomorrow.
If you’re out and about or meeting friends and family this weekend, have a lovely time
Thinking of you and your DD and family Gingster, hoping for some better news soon ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where we have the haar.
Yesterday was dry and sunny for the gala day and ride out.
I was busy. My potato and lovage soup went down well at open house. And snap GMB I made lemon drizzle
There were 2 new volunteers which is good.
I spent some time at the fair, some in the pottery studio and some with the filmmaker who was back with the cameraman doing a scene in my garden. She doesn't think I should sell my house!
My covid booster today but nothing else planned.
Well done your GD Harrigran
Enjoy your time with DS gMattie
I love to read about your gardens.
Have a happy day whatever you are doing.
Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.
The ‘mystery tour’ was in reality a trip to reach a classic car show which Mr C just happened to remember yesterday morning. Hmm. The sun shone and there were seats so I was happy. We reminisced over family cars from many years ago, remembering they usually broke down and didn’t look quite like the pristine examples proudly displayed. Coffee and lunch were good as was a garden centre stop for a cuppa late afternoon. To be fair a decent day.
Pottering indoors today, nothing exciting. Storms are forecast later, with luck they will miss us.
Understand you’re shaken karma, it does all sound under control though which is good to hear. There seems to be much enjoyable family busyness, ours are all away on their various holidays, a quiet time for us
Hope Sunday is kind to us all.
Good morning all from a very cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
I feel as if someone is slicing my throat with razor blades. 😫
Karna, I'm sure you will have changed all your passwords, after your hacking experience, if not do it ASAP.
That's a nightmare, scammers getting into your Dell, phone and compromising your cards into the bargain. They are so sophisticated nowadays.
Last week, when I suspected that my email had been hacked; , my first thought was to change my passwords (my IT training is firmly embedded in my brain.)
It turned out that Virgin Media were to blame and they still haven't sorted it.. 🤬
DH is off to Mass on his own, the Cup Final took precedence over Mass last night. 🤭
} can't even make the effort to get dressed this morning, but will enjoy a rare, Sunday morning empy.
The downside, is that I won't see my darling Dollie.
I'm in a dilemma. My new treatment should have started yesterday, but DH was concerned that I was too unwell to begin. However, I cannot put it off again, I long for a better quality of life, than presently.
Someone has to be with he, when I do it, in case of anaphylaxis. Not that DH would be much use, so I need to get a move on and do it, before he leaves. I am procrastinating.
My newly bought plants are awaiting planting, it is annoying me that I cannot find the energy to transfer them from pot to soil. The garden used to be full of fledgling veggies at this time of the year, now all I have are two tomato plants and they were grown by DD!
All those in the sick bay and those who care for them are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Hoping that Gingster's DD is getting the help she needs.
Have a good day folks.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I should get up soon - I overslept!
No church today as there isn’t a service nearby.
I’ve taken my blood pressure already. I’m doing it morning and evening for 7 days. The lower figure was 59 last night, which hasn’t happened before.
OH won’t be checking on his bees today. He wants the new Queens to settle in.
I think I’ll make a cheese soufflé for Sunday dinner. We had pork in mushrooms and cream last night so maybe something a bit lighter today.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Morning all from my little corner of S E Essex, the sky is grey, no idea if we have rain forecast.
We have DD and the GC here for lunch and dinner, they boys will be wanting to be in the garden for a swim and splash whatever the weather 😱🌧️💨
I shall do picky bits for lunch and roast chicken for dinner this evening.
Have a good day folks 🙋♀️
