Good Morning Monday 27th May 2024
(38 Posts)Good morning from Bristol.
I had a quiet day yesterday. Church after DS left, lunch, my nap (😴) then I finished my patchwork blocks and am now putting on the edges before arranging and assembling.
Today,DD and family have asked me to join them on a trip to Stourhead. I hope that the azaleas will still be in bloom. I have wanted to go there since always…. As we will be 6, we’ll need two cars. The passenger arrangement will be telling.
I trust the weather will hold, but am not holding my breath.
I hope MD’s infection is receding and she feels better. Nice to see your post Urms. Trust everyone has a good bank holiday despite (because of, perhaps?) the weather.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning Mick from a damp north Wales where it’s promised a dryer day later 🤞
A titivating day for me ….🦶💅 and a facial, all DIY as it’s quicker and cheaper, wish I could cut my own hair!
I’ll pop in later to read about your bizzinesses and hope you’ve all got something good happening this BH!
Good morning from a damp Whiddon Down for packing up for home.
Worrying news this morning from my DD1 in Australia who has been told her cataracts are inoperable due to risk of making her vision worse. She’s seeking a second opinion.
Have as good a day as you can, everyone. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning all
What a week I’ve had here on the east coast of Fife.
The weathers been a mixture of heat, rain and wind.
My lovely family have been visiting and staying over for a few days.
We’ve had great fun in going out to certain areas of Fife eating in fancy restaurants, drinking a few Proseccos, in general, catching up after a few years of not seeing each other.
Have a good day my friends as best you can
Good morning everyone from a bright hillside in south Glos, it’s damp out and more forecast today.
I did a lot of housework yesterday, mainly sorting bits out and filling a bag for the charity shop. The dog hates thunderstorms so I spent an hour with her squashed in my chair with her head under my armpit, poor thing. We had several spectacular downpours.
Today I will get the ironing done then see what materialises apart from dog walking.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹
Good morning Michael and all GNs from a brightening South Yorkshire. I woke very early again this morning and haven’t been able to get back to sleep so it doesn’t bode well for the rest of the day! Yesterday was lost to the weather - heavy rain and thunderstorms. I managed to get a short walk in the early evening when it started to dry up. Nothing much on the agenda today except to pot up some trailing fushias to hang on the iron railings that separates the upper and lower gardens. I didn’t do it last year and I missed them. Said railings really need a coat of paint but I have put it off yet again. Since DH died a lot of these fiddly little maintenance jobs keep getting put off! He will be tutt-tutting from somewhere or other, no doubt!!
Have the best day you can, folks!
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit grey and we’ve showers forecast for later
I hope you enjoy a lovely family day gMattie
That does sound worrying Ash I hope something can be done to help your DD
We’ve got both DGC here so they’ll be up soon for breakfast then it’s the school run. After that I’m hoping to get some gardening done as I’ve not had much chance recently
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from s somerset and more rain forecast for today.
I hope the second opinion is better Ash, that is a worrying prognosis
A busy couple of hours now, I have visitors for lunch
Have a good day
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dry so far. I woke early as I didn't pull down the blackout blinds.
I had my booster vax yesterday so will take it easy today. U3A art outing this afternoon.
I wanted to plant out seedlings yesterday but it was too wet. I was baling out water buckets again.
I phoned my DC but didn't see them. They all had news. DGS ran the Edinburgh half Marathon and is to be a prefect.
Last night's very good film was One Life.
What a worry about your DD Ash I hope that her cataracts are operable. 🤞
I hope you are feeling better today Marydoll .
How lovely for you Bonnybanko to spend time with your family.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
Yesterday was a lost day, I felt awful, and feel no better today. I was unable to start my treatment, due to having an infection. I was so disappointed.
DH is golfing and I may stay in bed for the day.
I hope you have a wonderful family day out GM.and anyone else having a family day.
Morning Mick, morning All from a gloomy looking corner of Somerset.
We missed the storms yesterday, a heavy shower at lunch time otherwise dry and reasonably sunny although a strong, cold wind discouraged being outside.
Hope to get an hour in the garden today. Will be brave and remove a plant. Hope we can then swap a couple of planters to reorganise one area. Assuming we can move them. A neighbour told us some of his garden pots had disappeared overnight. Oh heck. That’s a first here.
We never stop worry about our children do we ash, I hope the second opinion is more favourable. Enjoy Stourhead grandmattie. It’s a beautiful place at any time of year.
Hope Monday is kind to us all.
My sister’s wedding was a lovely affair. It was strange seeing some relatives I’d not seen since childhood. My son made it but came on his own as DiL has delayed concussion. The other GC came - DGD3 and DGS2 were thoroughly excited. DGD1 was driving her parents but their journey was a lot shorter. The drive home took 3 hours though with traffic jams on the M25 and M4 and a broken down car at traffic lights just off the M3.
I’m looking forward to a quiet day today.
Best wishes to your DD Gingster. Hope you can get underway with your new medication asap Marydoll. Have a good Bank Holiday everyone.
. marydoll.
Good morning from a sunny morning in Malta where we are expecting a high of 29°C.
Thanks for your lovely comment yesterday dear Urms. My friend and I met in 1978 when we were working as Nannies in London. She had known the nanny before me and recognised the little boy in my charge so approached us in the park. Here we are still friends after all these years and many miles between us. She’s on her own after an abusive marriage to a compulsive gambler so we support one another and she visits each year.
Had good news of DGD in Florida, she’s quite a star player of softball and she and her team did very well in their tournaments over the weekend. How they play in that heat with all the gear they wear I just don’t know!
I’m about to get the boys dressed, it’s always a chase around to catch them as they don’t like being pinned down!
Another jolly week begins!
Sorry about your DD Ash, do hope she will find a second opinion who can offer some hope.
Wishing you all a good day ☀️
Good morning all from a bright ish North Leicestershire.
We are hitting the shops with DGD2 tobspend her birthday money and then have lunch in a restaurant of her choice. They will go home from there and we will come home and collapse.
Good morning all from a sunny Black country after yesterday's torrential downpours it's a welcome change.
Meeting family at local park later if the weather holds.
GM have a lovely family day out.
Ash sorry about your DD I hope the second opinion can bring better news.
Sorry you're feeling no better Marydoll 💐
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.
Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, the dog spent 3 hours cowering under MrOops desk due to the thunder yesterday, ( behind MrOops legs, he had to stay with her) let’s hope we don’t get more today.
Nothing planned today, I spent a few hours cooking for the freezer yesterday, so I’ll cut and pack the food this morning ready to freeze.
Worrying news from MzOops, the mother and baby have been in and out of hospital every day, seemingly because the Mother ignored the Consultants demand that she go into hospital after the birth of the baby, mother and child were doing well, duallas and Midwives visiting each day, consultant has demanded that the baby go in for tests or he would obtain a Court Order to take the child into care. So a 2 day old baby and a mother who should be resting have had to drive to the hospital in Holiday traffic and sit for 3 hours each day waiting to get unwarranted tests done. All the tests ( the same ones each time) have been clear.
MzOops has now become involved and will be making her thoughts known to the Hospital Management. The irony is that the Midwife said that she really was better off at home rather than take the baby into hospital after the Birth.
High handed Consultant who didn’t like being told No.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a calm and relaxing BH Monday or Whitsun as we used to call it, why did that change?
Good morning from a bright Colchester. Rain forecast for later. We had a lovely family day yesterday and didn't get too wet. No plans for today apart from buying bread.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and cloudy. Marydoll a day in bed might help. Ash I'm sorry to hear about your dds eyesight. I didn't know that cataracts couldn't be operated upon. Bellasnana dgs2 does not like getting clothes on either.
Yesterday was a quietly busy day. I made lemon drizzle cake and gave some to my neighbour who lives my cake and jam. In the afternoon I visited mum. I took her a piece of cake and she practically inhaled it! She wasn't very chatty and quite grumpy then was sad when I left after half an hour of silence!
Today I had a long lie. Dd has the bank holiday, although it isn't one in our area. So no early start for me. I'll do an ironing and try and apply for my state pension online. I will go and sit in while dgs2 naps this afternoon. Dd and Dsil go to a dgs1's school for a welcome to parents meeting. The nursery and school have done lots this term to make school familiar and welcoming. It is mince round for dinner, tonight and tomorrow, with mashed potatoes and green beans. Have a good day all
Good morning from W Kent where we are now house sitting and looking after DS’s cat. The sun is out at present. I think we will visit a local garden centre when we can get moving.
Msrydoll
Best wishes to all
Morning all,
What worrying news Ashcombe , MaryDoll sorry to hear you are poorly once more, a duvet day sounds like a good plan.
Oops what a palaver for poor mum and baby.
Thinking of your DD Gingster 🤞🏻
We had a lovely day here yesterday one short shower and the rest of the day sunshine. The GC spent hours swimming, splashing and eating.
Today I am determining to have a lazy one…
Enjoy your day, however you are spending it 🙋♀️
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I think it might rain today?!
OH will visit his bees and check his Queens, he will then leave them for a few days. I will do a Waitrose shop. If it stays dry we will visit our local NT property. There is a Burne Jones mural which we love. We might have a cream tea! £5 each for two delicious scones, jam, cream and a pot of tea. I have English Breakfast and he has Earl Grey.
Commiserations to those of you going through difficult times.
Good morning, it’s another wet one here in South Lanarkshire.
Hope your day goes well gM.
Marydoll, may you feel better for a day in bed.
Good to hear about your family times Bonnybanko.
I admire your energy in looking after two toddlers Bellasnana.
Our meal last night was disappointing, I think that’s the first time I’ve been served roast potatoes which were obviously cheap frozen ones. Not good.
Charity shop shift today, the last Bank holiday was really busy with visitors, I suspect the weather will deter people today though.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a dry South Downs, where rain is forecast until 11 am and then sun. So will spend the morning fiddling in the house, then outside when the sun appears.
Son phoned for his usual weekly chat and was on the phone for about an hour talking about this and that. I have been mulling on how different the siblings are. Our son will chat for ever, putting the world to rights (yesterday it was about George Mombiot and neo-liberalism😄) and our daughter only contacts us if she has something to say of any importance unless we are in difficulties when she contacts/visits daily until we are ok then back to her normal self. Amazing how different ones children are.
ash I’m do hope something must be able to be done for your daughter. Cataracts are such an everyday procedure.
marydoll 💐🌞
I shall now have a cup of tea before getting up to feed the starving birds, and start my day
Enjoy your day all
Peace and harmony
