Good Morning Tuesday 29th May 2024
(47 Posts)Good morning from a grey Bristol. We are forecast a chilly, very wet day.
Mercifully, the forecast downpours didn’t materialise yesterday, although we had a few showers. We took nearly two hours following DSiL via the very beautiful English countryside to reach Stourhead. Sadly, most of the azaleas were over as were a lot of the rhododendrons, but enough were left to gladden the heart. We spent quite a bit of time in the house. I’m afraid that all that money and “look how rich I am” stuff makes me rather nauseous, but I enjoyed the artworks and the library.
I got home in the late afternoon, exhausted. Had a very light dinner, dozed off in front of the tv and went to bed early.
Today, cleaning and shopping. A university friend from when I was at uni in Oz, is coming to lunch tomorrow; I need to prepare food, etc.
Have a good day, Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morningMick and all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and sunny in spots. I hope you have a nice day.
Yesterday was quietly busy with lots of chatting to various folk. I was early to bed because I was so tired and this awake early this morning.
Today i will pick up the boys at half seven, take them to my house for breakfast then do the nursery drop off. If it stays dry, dgs2 will want to be in the garden. There will be much moving of sand from one place to another, I expect. Then it'll be lunch, nap time and nursery pick up. Have a good day all.
Good morning all from the Black country rather dull at the moment.
We have the boys today as it's half term, they stayed over last night first time ever. I can hear them talking in the bedroom but their mum has told them they must stay there until 7am like at home, so I'll make the most of my bit of me time.
Had some sad news yesterday a dear friend had died, she is now at peace with her sons who tragically all 3 had died before the age of 40 one of them in a fire while at university.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from wet, cool s somerset
A grim day today and I feel like wearing warmer clothes. It is very green out but the water butts are full and snails are having a field day
I might get a slot of dry, I want to dead-head roses, fingers crossed
I had planned to start making cultured butter today but will abandon that until next weekend. It needs warm and the sun would provide that, I have no intention of providing artificial warmth at this time of year, goes against the grain
Have a good day
Good morning from a dull and damp Torbay.
My early start yesterday paid off as I was home just after 9.30 a.m. after an easy journey with no heavy traffic. It wasn’t very busy here despite it being a sunny Bank Holiday.
Thank you for your support yesterday, including a PM from a fellow sufferer, all of which I appreciated. My DD1 will be seeking a second opinion regarding her cataracts.
Props this morning then various errands to complete.
How tragic for your late friend to be predeceased by all three sons, monk08. 💐
I hope the sun is shining somewhere for this half term holiday! 🦩🥰🌦💐🦩
Morning all from a grey S E Essex.
I have the 9yr old & The Imp today, think I will take them to soft play and somewhere for lunch. Hopefully have time to pop down the road to the shop that sells everything and get some garden toys (badminton bat/balls, cricket set and a new hula hoop)
Have a good day folks 🙋♀️
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Inverness
I hope the boys enjoyed their very first sleepover monk08 but how sad about your dear friend, it sounds like she’s had a very troubled life, poor lady
We’ve woken up this morning to low water pressure, we seem to get more than our fair share of water and power problems here, don’t know why. Anyway Ive filled a couple of jugs and the kettle and hope it’s sorted soon Yesterday was very showery so I didn’t get much gardening done but I’m hoping today will be better
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning everyone from a damp and dreary hillside in south Glos, it’s chilly too.
Yesterday I pootled around outside in between the showers, deadheaded the roses and pulled up weeds. I am actually rather pleased with how the garden is looking, I have so many foxgloves which the bees love.
Today some baking I think and I need to go to the post office so I will take the dog with me and we’ll do a nice walk around the lanes.
🌹
Good morning from a sunny Malta where the high is again forecast to be 29°C.
Had a bit of a senior moment when I got into my car this morning and realised I had left the window fully open! Nothing was missing although I had rather hoped someone might have taken the box of stuff for the charity shop which I’ve been carrying around for weeks!
I was kept awake last night by the incessant barking of my neighbour’s dog. I know she went abroad yesterday but don’t know who was looking after it.
monk what desperately sad news about your friend. To lose all her sons so young is unbearable to imagine. May she rest in peace.
I’m with the boys as usual, both are a bit cuddly today so I expect we shall get through a lot of books.
Wishing you all a good day. ☀️
Good morning from sunny Colchester. There's rain in the forecast but it didn't appear yesterday despite the dark clouds.
Tuesday volunteering in the charity shop as usual.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from Shropshire. After a couple of dry and sunny days it is now raining again.
DH got lots done in the garden yesterday. As I have to avoid direct sunlight due to the medication I am on the house too is looking very neat with everything up to date.
Today we are going to see mum. Both DD’s and the grandchildren will join us.Mum will be so happy to see them and hopefully will be on good form🤞🏻
So sorry to hear about your friend monk.As you say she is at peace now but what a tragic life she had💐
I hope Mary is feeling better today and that Gingsters daughter is home from hospital.
Thoughts with all our absent friends💐
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning from a windy dry day so far here on the east coast of Fife.
It’s expected to be a dull and rainy day today therefore I’ll be staying put and binge watch my favourite Netflix programmes of which the Rubus series is one of them.
Nothing much to say today except I’m raging about a personal issue however I’m keeping a low profile to calm my nerves
Have a good day to those who can
Good morning from the very sunny warm Algarve. It reached 28 degrees yesterday and been an extremely warm night. Today is DH birthday so we are having a special breakfast with DD2 and DGD2 and DGS2 on the terrace by the pool. Not sure at the moment where the day will take us. The children have lots of ideas 😊 The days are whizzing by and just another week here before back to my garden and normality.
So sad to hear about your friend Monk08. Hope all those feeling not so good have an easier day today. Life can be so challenging. Wishing everyone a peaceful day💐
Good morning from bright South Lanarkshire.
Nothing much planned for today so I’ll just see where the day takes me.
I must have a look at planning a couple of places to visit during our holiday in Ireland. It’s a few weeks away but I like to have a rough idea of what to do. We will be four adults, four children and two dogs so that may limit us slightly.
Your poor friend Monk, may she rest in peace.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.
I have choir this morning and DH has a volunteer drive. We definitely need some down time after a full on weekend.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all and it’s bright at the moment.
Dd came home from hospital yesterday and I took little DGD home to her as they were longing to see each other.,
Not much to report only that she has an infection. She will have a colonoscopy ‘sometime soon’. 😤. Her stay in hospital didn’t give her much hope , uncaring ‘nurses’ and no treatment over the bank holiday weekend. Oh dear!
So sad to hear of your friends death Monk , and her losing her sons so young. Hopefully all together now 🙏.
Enjoy the day, whatever it brings. 🌸
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Bright and sunny! Nothing planned apart from the chiropodist so my feet will be happy.
I enjoyed the Georgian costumes at The King's Gallery yesterday.
The AGM of our arts association was very civilised, followed by a concert and wine and cheese.
I've accepted a quote for the roof repairs at last . It's a big job but not an entire roof!
That's so sad about your poor friend monk. All at peace now.
Let's hope your DD has a better prognosis Ash. 🙏
I hope Marydoll is feeling better now and Gingster's DD is home.
Have the best day possible everyone especially those in pain or struggling.
Good morning from a dull but dry (so far) Sefton. The grey skies are getting darker by the minute & rain is forecast -+what a surprise! A very pleasant afternoon yesterday with DS2 & family although the promised leg of lamb did not appear as DS2 totally miscalculated defrosting time 🥶. They will cook it today - and eat it all week.🫤
Zoom exercise class & a food shop this morning, any plans for the rest of the day will be weather dependent.
Wishing you all a good day.
Morning Mick, morning All. Wet and windy sums up our corner of Somerset. Huge puddles out there.
Sorted what we’d hoped to do in the garden yesterday between showers. Overall it’s looking good. The older climbing rose is covered in bloom, sadly being battered by the wind. The grass is covered in pink petals. Looks quite pretty, better if the petals were on the roses though.
Dust removal here this morning, the kitchen needs a good scrub today. Anticipate a quiet afternoon with a book or a venture out should the rain move away.
Sad news monk and what loss your friend experienced. I’m sorry your daughter had such poor ‘care’ gingster. Not how it should be. Birthday wishes to your husband grannyivy, sounds a good day ahead.
Thinking of everyone with a personal mountain to climb. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
A very good morning to you all from south Manchester where it’s actually dry, not sunny but not chilly. We are off to the Christie in an hour as it’s iv chemo day.
Morning all from a wet West Oxfordshire.
Our cleaning lady is due this morning. Later, OH will make some ammunition ready for his shooting club tonight. I’m not sure of my day except I need to buy some new slippers. I bought some recently but took them back yesterday as they were becoming misshapen and bits were falling off!
I will pop round to see friends tonight. One of our group had a family tragedy at the weekend when their son in law was killed in an accident.
Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with seemingly insurmountable difficulties.
Good morning from an as yet sunny Suffolk but rain later I suspect.
So pleased to read Gingster that your DD is home. I hope that she gets better service from the hospital now the bank holiday is over.
It will be a day of doing all the jobs that have been left because of our trip away. The garden needs some attention as does the overflowing laundry basket.
Hope those with distress in their lives at present find some solace.
Another good morning from South Lanarkshire. I’m home from a very pleasant weekend with a friend in Stirling. The weather was mixed ie some sunshine and some horrendous rain. We had to leave one restaurant just as we were about to start eating because it suddenly became flooded! It was just at the foot of the castle walls and evidently the same thing happened last year and renovations had clearly not been sufficient. The rain was really biblical when it was on.
What a hard life your friend has had Monk, please God she’s united with her sons now.
Gingster these accounts of uncaring nurses are all too common now, what is wrong with people?
Lots to do at home today, I hope I do it!
Wishing everyone a decent day. Has anyone heard from Beechnut? I hope she’s okay.
Good morning from a wet South Downs. My grandfather (who was one of a number of gardeners on a very large estate before the war (first that is) always said that you can never have too much rain in May, but that was 100 years before climate change.
Nothing planned today - except the ironing. So will make the most of a relaxed day in as it is due to rain all day.
Yesterday I had loads of energy, so flew through the housework and washed and dried everything in the bin. So now I can enjoy the week.
Enjoy your day all
Peace and harmony
