Research into so called Blue Zones indicates that connection is important.

Today, I spoke to a neighbour who was washing his car, an acquaintance in a charity shop, another neighbour who was closing her gate, somebody I haven't seen for years and my hairdresser.

Not bragging, there are days when its down to zero.

Just the people in the shop and my son on Facebook. Suits me. I have learned the hard way not to get too involved with people.

Husband - a man of few words..
Me - a woman of many, even if a few would do.

Marydoll Fri 31-May-24 15:52:30

•Myself!
•My husband
•Virgin Media technician (an hour of my life wasted.)
•Covid vaccination helpline (apparently, I don't exist,
despite having had eight vaccinations)
•A random Man in Sainsbury's (who showed me the
amazing reductions in the reduced cabinet)
•The Sainsbury's employee, who did a spot trolley
search, yet again (I am a marked woman).
•A customer, who pointed out that I could have three trays
of bedding plants for £6, instead of the two I had. (I had
missed that).

Just dh, but that’s fine - I don’t feel in the least deprived. And I did say thank you to the bus driver when I got off.
There’ll be plenty of talk tomorrow - 9 of us at a lunch for our 50th. 🥂🍾. And it’s def, going to be sunny - 1st June is an Auspicious Day!

A good friend who called round
The bike repair man.
Greeted five or six people I passed in the street
The woman working the cash-desk in the one supermarket I shopped in, the man in the other, and a third in a third shop.
My two cats
This evening I will either text or phone my daughter or she will get in first and phone or text me.
Just realised I never said my morning prayers (my excuse being that I ate something I should not have yesterday and spent all m orning on the toilet) so I had better add God belatedly to the list!

A pretty good day! Often I speak to nobody unless you count the dog who, though a great listener, is not much of a conversationalist!😊

Daughter, lots.
Cashier in co-op, very briefly.

Many of my days are like that & I'm fine with it as I can find company & socialising quite draining, even if I enjoy it at the time .

I used to lead a charity for homeless people and today I was in a cafe having coffee with my husband when I overheard an elderly woman asking for details of the charity as she is homeless. Long story short I listened to her and took steps to help. As she was leaving she showed me this (see photo) and told me that she had found it on a bench in the park, it had made her day as she is very alone.

In addition to this woman and my husband I spoke to two friends in person, cafe staff, several shopkeepers, and had WhatsApp exchanges with my children.
