Good Morning Friday 31st May 2024
(51 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but cloudy here in brackley at the moment.
My usual routine of bus to Bicester for a couple of hours ,and then call in the Fish & Chip shop before getting back indoors .
We seem to be getting more winds from the North making it a very out of season cold chill .
Take Care,
Mick
Good afternoon everyone from Severnside. It has been a sunny morning and I’ve got my bits and pieces from the diy shop, a reel of cotton from another and popped into Lidl for a few things ending up with spending more money in there than my original intention 😳
Wishing MrSusan a very Happy 70th Birthday 🍹🎂🎉
Good morning from East Lothian. The sky is clearing and a dry weekend is forecast. Yesterday was better than expected- there was a cool breeze but it was fine walking around which we did a lot of! We spent the day in Dunbar (on the south side of the Firth of Forth) and bought sourdough loaves in the lovely bakery and had coffee (me)/tea (DH) and shared a slice of rocky road. We ‘did’ the two charity shops and finished at the zero waste store. We acquired various useful bits and pieces for our flat - a stainless steel teapot set, a saw and a lovely Caithness glass vase with a hovering bird etched on it (of course it was an essential purchase).
The cool breeze would have been perfect for DGSs the previous evening when they were supposed to be racing dinghies at the sailing club they have recently joined. As it was they hardly moved and J took to leaning over the prow and paddling with his arms. I will try to attach a photo
The boys are going on a week’s sailing trip ‘down south’ so life here will be more peaceful (but less entertaining 😂).
I must go and make a chicken curry for later. Then I can enjoy the sunshine - a walk and some gardening at DD’s.
Hope all the family enjoy the birthday celebration Susan.
Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest coast. Bits of sunshine etc. As I’m having a housework/singing practice day, I’d like to intersperse it with a little partaking of sunshine, but it’s in and out…
To hairdresser in the city yesterday still feeling off colour. I could go locally, but this is my preference. They take no notice of me and I mean that in a positive way, I’m not fussed endlessly and they just get on with it. My idea of hell is a spa weekend. I hope to throw off my ennui today.
Such nice photos Bellasnana, I remember my happy visits to Malta, beautiful place, birthday greetings to Mr. Susan56 and thoughts to all with worries 🌺
Good morning all - I can’t say I’ll be too sorry to see the back of May.
Indifferent weather (sometimes downright COLD) three bereavements close to home and a left knee which came out in sympathy with my right a couple of weeks ago!
I’m giving June due warning that I expect better and I hope it takes notice!
Wishing you all some 🌞 and lots of 🌼🌸🌺🌹💐
Had a lovely lunch with 9 year old dgd yesterday. I was so proud of her. She made me laugh when she criticised a nearby table of 3 children as being ‘too loud’. I remember when the same was said of her 😂.
Happy Birthday to Susan56 dh. Lovely photo Bellasnanna.
Dgd hasn’t decided what we’re doing today. She goes to her other grandma later till Sunday evening then back here ready for school on Monday.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible with happy travels and improvements in health.
Good morning from Kent. Grey day here to but warm enough to do all those things I keep putting off. But really now it comes to it really hard to get going 🤣
Morning from sunny South Lanarkshire, hooray!
Yesterday’s trip to see my sister in law was a mixed event. I don’t regret going, she was really happy to see me and we had a lovely time together but I will just have to coordinate travel with DD from now on. I left the house before 10 o’clock and didn’t get home until after after 6.30pm for a visit lasting three hours. Three buses and one train, I really was shattered.
Better planning required!
Audiologist this morning in our local hospital, I do hope she can improve things, I am beginning to struggle in group situations.
Lovely pictures of your twins Bellasnana and well done to your granddaughter!
Best wishes to all for a good day.
Good morning everyone from a chilly and overcast Northampton.
Awaiting the arrival of DS, to see if he can put my TV unit back together; there was a terrific crash late last night and the middle shelf fell down taking the tv box and DVD player with it. One of the cats might have had something to do with it.....
Apart from that a day of nervously and excitedly waiting before our big rugby match tonight- the semi-final of the rugby championship. Shall be there for Friday night under the lights, in my team kit and hopefully waving a flag.
Wishing all a pleasant Friday.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a glorious start to the day. I have a manicure booked for this morning. Other than that we have no plans but Himself is hoping to go to watch the Boy Wonder this evening at his football training session. Lamb steaks and jerseys for tea. That was not possible last summer. How good is this?
Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 13°C.
Today I need to collect my prescriptions, no other plans.
Have a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌻
Good morning from a grey, cool NE.
Yesterday's Sainsbury's shop was disappointing, none of the scanners were operating so we had to do an old fashioned shop which took twice as long as usual.
During the afternoon SIL tidied up the wine cellar and we updated the cellar book which will make it easier to locate favourites. I was going to do an order with Waitrose while they have the 25% offer but we decided not needed at present.
I will have a quiet day with a little tidying up and hopefully get to read my book.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey and cool Carlisle where it is trying to brighten up.
Yesterday was a day of sun and cloud. After a morning of chores I was pleased to have my Tesco delivery arrive early just before lunch.
After lunch it was out in the garden to earth up my potatoes and put in some support for my peas which are coming on well as are the runner beans. Then it was on to continue eradicating another thuggish alpine from my gravel garden.
Today I hope to be out in the garden again later. there's more planting out to do. I've had breakfast watching the sparrows busy themselves on my roses. I wonder how many aphis it takes to fill a sparrow's tum? Rather a lot I'd think. All my ladybirds seem to have disappeared, into the sparrows also?
Today is ironing and bathroom cleaning day, I've only been back a week and I'm already thinking of another holiday, the longer, the better! Work in the garden is one thing and work in the house entirely another...
Have the best possible day everyone.
Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.
Not a lot on todays agenda other than TaiChi after lunch.
Happy Birthday to your husband susan, enjoy family time. Safe journey ash and all on the move.
Hope Friday is kind to us all.
Good morning from W Kent. Our day at the hospital yesterday was successful and DH relieved both eyes are now done. Lots more drops to juggle. DD2 is coming over for lunch and then we shall make our way back to our house as DS and family are back shortly.
Happy birthday to your DH Susan.
Best wishes to all
Good morning from a grey, blustery Durham - non too warm either.
Family stayed last night, we ate out at our local Vintage Inn, resulting in a surprisingly big bill (so long since I’ve eaten out at night) - they are still asleep, so I’ve had a tidy up and lots of tea.
Hopefully I can help DD2 this afternoon, as she has ‘stuff’ to collect for DGS2’s birthday party on Sunday.
The gardeners did a good job yesterday, being in the NE, my first rose is almost out - bright pink and many more to come.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from the north of Scotland where it has not rained for at least an hour. Is this the wettest May ever?
I am off for a blood test then will treat myself to breakfast in a lovely cafe.
Lovely photos Bellasnana.
MD, GM and all of you with trials of any kind, best wishes.
Godd morning from a drizzly, chilly Suffolk coast.
Snails everywhere!!!!?
Our garden looks like a jungle and the sit upon mower has still not been repaired 😡. We’ve asked our lovely DIY chap to bring his mower and work his magic. He can’t come until Monday, but that’s ok. We’ll potter around and see what’s urgently required.
I went to book club at a near by pub (Parrot and Punchbowl, Liberty ). It was nice to see the other 5 ladies and discuss the book ‘French Braid’ . It was a popular choice. Next book is ‘Librarian of Auschwitz’. I think I have the book somewhere.,
We’re going to be holding on to the showers here on the edge of East Anglia but I think the rest of the country will be fine.
Take care and enjoy the day 🌸 whatever it brings.
Good morning all from the Black country where the sun is making a breakthrough.
No plans today just a small local shop.
Birthday wishes for your DH Susan and enjoy your family get together.
Ash safe travels.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️
Good morning from Suffolk where it looks as though we had a lot of rain overnight. More forecast for today.
I managed to pot up some of the plants that I bought a couple of weeks ago…..geraniums,nictotina and pansies. I hope I can finish between the showers.
Other than that,DH and I will have a muddy walk with the dog and then coffee in our nearest market town where I need to collect a birthday present for my great nephew who will be 2 next week.
Hope all have the best day possible especially those struggling with pain or distress.
Oldies’ coffee morning will be a bit chilly as we will be outside but it will be nice to catch up with people, then this evening a friend is bringing the video of “Mrs Harris goes to Paris” which we will watch with a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and some nibbles which I will make this afternoon. Sounds like a good day. Hope others are as fortunate.
Morning all from a grey wet S E Essex 🌧️☔️
I am off to our local farm shop with The Imp this morning, it has a Pirate Fun Day, there is an outside treasure hunt, along with games and animal petting inside the barn, I think I will be wet, muddy and exhausted by lunchtime.
Have a good day folks 🙋♀️
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very windy.
The ambulance was back early yesterday to bring nurses to my neighbour. By the afternoon they decided he should be in hospital so was admitted about 9pm. I took his wife so she could speak to the ward staff and we got home about 11. I’m not sure what will happen next but their son is driving up from Somerset today so they will have some family support.
Food shopping this morning then some housework.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from the Algarve. A trip to zoomarine is planned today and weather is predicted to be 28 degrees. We like to watch the Dolphin show but it will be busy there. I cannot believe the weather is so unseasonal back home still
Have a great day everyone
Good morning from a very windy, grey Essex coast. June tomorrow and still no sign of summer.
I rang the radiology department at the hospital again yesterday and spoke to a lovely young man who managed to find me a cancellation for next Thursday for my chest xray. He was so helpful, a rarity these days.
Bed changing and ironing this morning. Reading my new book later.
Monthly quiz at the Yacht club tonight, something I really enjoy, and we get quite a big crowd.
Have a great day everyone xx
