Hoping he is OK . Apparently he wasn't feeling very well. On honeymoon 23 years ago in Egypt we arrived at a monument in an air conditioned coach. Once I descended into the blinding, paralysing heat I understood, for the first time , all those stories about people wandering away from their cars in the Australian outback and getting lost. That kind of heat fries your brains and you can't think straight. God willing he is found in time and will be OK. How awful for him and his loved ones.

He's a think-outside-the-box doctor, who has helped so many people. Although he is courageous, it seems to me that his experiments - e.g. the snake venom - have been undertaken judiciously. I think he is far from cranky, rather a rare voice of reason who does not advocate taking a drug as a first resort. Also, I do not think he advocates 800 calories/day for life, rather for three days a week and there is so much evidence pointing to the benefits of intermittent fasting, which is, after all, natural to humans (I say this because we evolved from hunter-gatherers who could not rely on three meals a day). He must have done Big Pharma out of billions, tho' - could that...possibly...have something to do with his disappearance? I fervently hope he's soon found, but meanwhile I'll go and get my tin hat! :-))

Maybe she didn’t want to! And possibly tried to persuade him not to, too. With a backpack he was likely to have water. He was on a day out with other people so the ‘phone was not something foremost in his mind and he probably hadn’t planned to walk home. The ‘phone might have been charging anyway.

It’s a very worrying scenario and I pray we get some info soon

I read today he was feeling unwell hence deciding to go for a walk, so very strange all of it. They had been a four some shortly before he left them and his wife reported him missing when he did not return from the walk by dark. So sad

Sadly I am amazed that he would go 'for a walk' on Symi with no phone, in the heat ....i did see somewhere he had no water with him either ......very very strange action for a man of both his age and his medical conditions and understanding ...I went to Symi but didnt even attempt the hill walks ....stayed down in the little village and visited the church , little shop and the cafe ..sat on the beach under a shade until the boat returned for Rhodes....fingers crossed !

Just back home after being out for lunch with family and the first thing I did was to check the online news to see whether MM has been found.

I find it strange that he would have taken such a hazardous route as, it’s extremely hot, almost 50 degrees according to the journalists reporting from the island. He obviously didn’t enjoy the heat as was sheltering under an umbrella. It’s very worrying and I hope he’s found. I have always enjoyed his articles and programmes.

worrying too. When they set off by boat he probably hadn’t planned to return on foot, hence no walking boots.

Underfoot can be quite dodgy, rocks, scree etc make it hard going and dangerous at times.
It looks to me, from the images, that he was wearing only trainers, not proper hiking shoes.

We were much younger, and so it did not affect us, but at 70+ we wouldn’t tackle it now in that heat.

I think the man in Pedi is definitely Michael. We have seen a photo of what he was wearing on the beach earlier. See how quiet the place is in the midday sun.

Surely his wife would recognise the clothing the person with the umbrella was wearing.
It’s very sad as these things are, I hope he is found soon but time is really running out,

If the dogs can't work for long in the heat, imagine a man in his 60s doing that walk in the heat.

We have a special UV umbrella that folds down quite small. They are now focusing on an area that has network of caves. Maybe he sought shelter there? It is a pity the search dogs cannot work for long in the great heat.

There's been mention of snakes in the rocks along that footpath.

Re his diabetes, I thought he had "cured" that with his diet?

I read that the group had got a water taxi to St Nick's beach.

The brown umbrella - if he didn't take it with him when he left the beach, did he buy it somewhere? If there's no trace of him buying it, then maybe that person supposedly photographed in the town is not him at all?

It does seem very strange that an intelligent, educated, medical doctor, feeling unwell, would set off walking in the hottest part of the day with no phone (or water??). Two people have died in Crete in the last week walking gorges. I would never ever try walking in the Greek islands during the hottest part of the day or anytime in summer - spent 10 years in Greece on and off and the number of tourists getting into trouble like this is unbelievably high. I really hope he is found safe, but as time goes on it doesn't look good :-(

Agree. It does seem an odd situation. Perhaps he was so overcome by the heat, that he couldn’t think clearly. Also being 67 and suffering with diabetes would have affected his physical responses perhaps. PIt isn’t looking good for him.

It seems odd that if this was the case he hasn't been found, considering all the places he could have had an accident have been searched. I am still of the opinion, and so are others of my acquaintance, that his disappearance has been planned, by him or someone out to cause Mosley harm.
