It is understandable that people wish to support Mick.
However, I did suggest, out of concern for another poster, that people stop commenting, rather than draw attention to the unfortunate post. Well that certainly backfired.
Perhaps it would have been wiser to ignore Bonnybanko's post in the first place and let the issue die.
A sad state of affairs indeed.

I think we should all butt out and stop this. We are making things worse by commenting in my opinion.

Can these people - Mick and Bonny - not speak for themselves?

I too support Mick and have done so privately and publicly in the past, as you will be aware of Kitty.

I am just upset at the lack of understanding and compassion for a poster, who has suffered so much..
Comments like Don"t take any notice, Mick don't help on what is usually a kind and supportive thread.

I read Mick's post every morning when I wake up, it's the first thing I do, and look forward to it, don't take any notice Mick, keep going!

A few of us were doing a similar thing for Mick, who we also see as a friend.

Thank you to those who have understood the reasons for my earlier post and my request for a little understanding.
No-one is disputing this is Mick's thread and his right to start the Morning Thread.

However, I have tried to explain that sometimes when a poster is ill, they can become muddled and fail to understand the nuances and unsaid tradition of waiting for Mick to post first.
Why do people need to continue to comment about it, instead of just letting it go?
I feel quite sad and disappointed for Bonnybanko, who will probably be upset, when she reads the comments.

I just love reading these posts - it makes me realise that there is a fully functioning world out there!! Silly, I know. We have just moved to another county, so I don't actually speak to anyone from one day to the next!

The best financial "agony aunt" is Kate Morley from The Daily Telegraph. She has won awards and has managed to get back hundreds of thousands of pounds for readers following her intervention.

I'm another one who loves Micks posts. Everyone else's posts, read them in bed them up for the first cup of coffee. Creature of habit!.

Love to check that micks post has started it was lovely reading it whilst I was away on holiday last week and I was up early!

Don't post very often but read this thread everyday. Love reading about the weather and what everyone is doing. I agree when I read Micks thread I feel all is right with the world and long may he continue to start our days.

the village outdoor party takes place today , last year it was so hot , but I don’t think it will be hot this evening , hoping for it to be dry is as good as it gets !

Good morning from a wet and grey Central Scotland. Will go back later to read your posts. Nothing much planned for today although if it clears up we may go out for a wee while. It’s Friday so the fish van comes today he comes from Anstruther and has a fantastic range of fish and many other goodies including cakes, scones, bread and at this time of year fantastic Scottish strawberries. We had been given a voucher from our DS and DiL for lunch and wine at Cromlix which is Andy Murray’s hotel near Dunblane so we were there this week. It was lovely cooked food but not for those with a plainer palette. The photos show my meal. Starter was Wild wood pigeon terrain, main course was glazed pork cheek and fillet, dessert was orange and olive oil cake. The wine was .. expensive 🤣. No sign of any of the Murrays but it was a lovely afternoon in a beautiful setting. Hope everyone finds something to smile about today.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a Carlisle of uncertain weather...the sun is out at the moment but for how long?! We're getting lots of dark gloomy times in between.

Lots of pootling about at little jobs yesterday, my puritanical nature won't let me sit and read for hours though, goodness knows, there are plenty of books that need reading. I was out in the garden after lunch, mostly putting in plant supports. My new plants have obviously settled in and are now going mad.

Today, I await a delivery of my second favourite beverage, wine!

I have been wondering how you were getting on with the bank grandMattie so I was sorry to read your post. It seems a lot more time must pass....Don't give up!

I thought you sounded a bit down Bonny. It's not easy when you're awake for long hours in the very early morning and just know you won't get to sleep again. There must be others you could reach out to by starting your own very early birds thread?

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. The men have arrived and put up signs to close our road and get drilling, so a noisy day ahead. Luckily I have a little light shopping to do and then GS5 care this afternoon so will miss some of it.

Many of us are awake before Mick opens up the Good Morning thread , Bonnybanko, which he initiated all those years ago.
I think it’s nice to allow him that courtesy - I sometimes check and then go back to sleep knowing all is well in the GM world.

Maybe slightly clumsily worded but I read Bonnybanko’s comment as a reference to the many, many spam threads on GN this morning, meaning that it involved a search for Mick’s much loved thread this morning.
