Will you watch tonight’s debate on BBC at 7:30pm?

I’m going to give it a go but to be honest 7 pundits might be a bit much. Not sure 90 minutes of shouting and getting in digs and sound bites will be in any way particularly informative.

What do you think?

Angela Raynor (sic) does have beautiful hair
It’s extensions - and not very good ones considering the disposable income she has!

ExDancer Fri 07-Jun-24 21:22:16

No no no.
They axed a programme I wanted to see to make air-time for it, I was looking forward to 30 mins of easy comedy watching, and got an irritating comedy of lies instead.

Sorry - missed the LibDem lady - Daisy (?) Cooper. I liked her. She was well meaning and genuine. Rather sweet.

I loved the presenter sorry can’t remember her name (Radio 4) and very much liked she didn’t stifle debate. She even let Rayner and Mordaunt go at it hammer and tongs - which the audience enjoyed and then found the Greens witty ‘oh this is very civilised isn’t it!’. 😁

Plaid were dismissive weren’t they about Labour in Wales!

And SNP did the usual ‘it’s all the fault of Westminster’. Sigh.

Farage got a round of applause on knife crime.

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole 90 minutes. And breathed a sigh of relief at the set - the BBC didn’t go for the moving cubes & lights which the ITV used, much to my distraction.

It wasn’t a bedtime story but I fell asleep at 8.35 pm. Thought it was dreadful. Pretty sunset tonight….looking at clouds is much more fun.

crazyH

I think Penny has used a whole can of hairspray.

How are Angela’s hair extensions holding out?
Surely there’s more to talk about than womens hair ?
I didn’t watch it as had to start cooking, but will read about it tomorrow tho am feeling more and more like Monica about it all.

Pantglas2 Fri 07-Jun-24 21:00:53

Loved the last dig from Farage - autocue eh? Who knew😂

Calendargirl Fri 07-Jun-24 20:53:59

Some of what Nigel Farage says makes a lot of sense, i.e. dealing with crime.

nanaK54 Fri 07-Jun-24 20:50:33

Not bothered about her hair - but I do wish someone had told her that pointing is rude!

Grandma70s Fri 07-Jun-24 20:50:04

Her hair reminds me of Brigitte Macron’s at the D-day commemorations, but at least Penny isn’t wearing so much eye make-up that one wonders how she lifts her eyelids, as Mme Macron was.

Sorry, off topic I know, but these things are distractions, as are voices. I can’t listen to Angela Rayner. She may be saying wonderful things, but I am just cringing. Penny M has a nice voice.

Frankly, I’d much rather have had the old comedy programmes that this ‘debate’ is replacing.

maddyone Fri 07-Jun-24 20:42:36

I thought Blair had flair was quite funny.
I don’t think Penny Mordaunt has a wig on; I think she’s been to the hairdresser this afternoon and she’s got too much volume in her hairstyle and too much hairspray on.
Angela Raynor does have beautiful hair.

GSM BBC News has signing, BBC1 doesn’t.

Started watching. Turned off. The sign language is too distracting,

No sign language on my tv?

I don’t know, but it’s amazing.

M0nica Fri 07-Jun-24 20:33:23

It is not that I am not interested in politics I am and always have been, but the current lot in nearly all parties are such a load of dishonest shysters, all these debates will do will confirm my feeling that voting for any of them is like voting for a midden.

I will read the manifestos when they come out and may as a result vote for one party in hope, even though it will undoubtedly end in anger. The less I see and hear of the people who claim they will implement these promises, the better.

Iam64 Fri 07-Jun-24 20:29:55

Casdon apologies for being superficial - is it a wig ?

Calendargirl Fri 07-Jun-24 20:29:53

It’s handbags at dawn between Penny and Angela, screeching at each other so no one can hear anything.

Nigel is chipping in with his usual pithy comments, saying the two main leaders are just so dull,

‘At least Blair had flair!’

Casdon Fri 07-Jun-24 20:27:57

On a non debate note, Penny Mordaunt’s hair is fascinating me, just watch, it doesn’t move at all when she does.

Iam64 Fri 07-Jun-24 20:24:52

I’m watching wish Michelle h was keeping more control. Penny mordant is adept at ignoring the mess her govt has led our country into. She’s pointing and shouting at Angela Raynor who has retaliated at times to dispute mistruths . MH should prevent this
MH has at last corrected nonsense from PMordant

Casdon Fri 07-Jun-24 19:52:53

I’ll be watching because I like to see and hear their words myself rather than read someone else’s spin on what was said.

At least Rhun ap Iorwerth sounds good, his accent is so much less strident than all the others!

Siope Fri 07-Jun-24 19:27:01

I’m not interested in the smaller parties. They (SNP and Plaid) have their own elections in (?) two years

No, they have their election for Westminster on July 4th this year, just like everyone else.

What they think/say will be irrelevant to me

Not if they return sufficient MPs (and indeed MSPs and Assembly members) to influence government policy in the short or medium term.

LibDems and Reform neck & neck in overall irrelevance but obviously their parties want a handful of seats in the HoC to hold Starmer’s feet to the fire

See above re Plaid and the SNP. You are perhaps not aware that the SNP have been the third largest group in the House of Commons since 2015?

Pantglas2 Fri 07-Jun-24 19:20:39

Yes, I intend to watch.
