It’s simple if you want to start a thread name it the early risers thread. Personally I find Mick rises early enough for men😊

Good Morning Saturday 8th June 2024
(80 Posts)Good Morning Everyone ,
A dry but cloudy start here in brackley this morning.
After yesterdays chaos on the roads going to and from Bicester , due to an overturned HGV on the M40 causing problems traffic wise on roads around Bicester .
Today , I am hoping for a more scheduled journey into Bicester and back before I settle down to watch cycling on TV and have my usual Chinese take Away.
Take Care,
Mick
I rarely post on this thread or Soop's kitchen but I always look forward to reading them. It's not a case of anyone 'owning' a thread, it's quite comforting and familiar for some people. Starting another thread with the same title is harmless but I'm not sure what the point is.
Like others, I do not post on this thread but I do read it each morning, it fair brightens me. I don't think BB has been hacked at all, think just a little stir on BB's part. Don't know what BB is doing upsetting probably a lot of readers of this thread, please just leave it alone BB, if you do want your 'own' thread start another. Leave this one alone please. Stop causing upset.
I too am very saddened.
I don’t post but always read and enjoy this thread, started by Mick every day. It’s always so pleasant and I was saddened by what happened yesterday and has continued today.
How sad to see this thread degenerate into a playground spat; I hope we can move on now. Just about to see whether my shower has been fixed and will perform at a comfortable temperature again and then must provision for DD and DSiL arriving later today. Hope today is a good one all round.
Good morning from a sunny Co Armagh, with a cold wind that would cut you in two !
Our Village party last night was great fun , the wee ones in fancy dress all got medals , the tug o war was great fun and the burgers and ice cream didn’t run out !
Today is a visit to an open garden , it’s only open once a year , I’m not sure how far round I’ll get with the walker but I’ll give it my best !
Hoping the disgruntled find peace
And the poorly find something to cheer them
Good morning everyone from a wet south Manchester. It chucked it down at 6am but I managed to get back off … for another two hours! We can sleep 10 hours solid here, without alcohol or sleeping tablets! I think it’s my 9pm mug of Horlicks. 😁
We are lunching with our Yorkshire Lass and her husband at a pub equidistant (one of my favourite words) from us both, picking up my stepfather en route. Himself says he’s fine to drive (about 40 mins) which was seriously beyond expectations last summer. I expect he will be tired at tea time when we get home. Ah well, another 10 hour sleep might be on the cards!
Good morning from a now sunny Sefton. It was pouring - yet again- an hour ago. 🤞for at least some 'sunny intervals' or 'sunny periods'. A fruitless journey to our local market town yesterday for OH to visit his bank only to find that branch had closed....and they had omitted to inform him! Today we are off in another direction to another local town where there is still an open bank (& lunch & a TKMAXX😁). How long before that branch closes?
Wishing you all a pleasant weekend.
Morning Mick and all from high cloud in S Hants, Mick I think that HGV was full of sausages!
Fingers crossed for that letter gMattie
What a considerate man Ashcombe, safe journeys.
First thing I must do is get some washing on, we’re not forecast rain, so I’ll water the garden this evening, newspaper day and a farm shop visit.

Bonnybanko, did you actually get fun out of doing that?
that was exactly my thought Marg75.
A weird post from BB, not at all in the spirit of this warm delightful thread
Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy, chilly feeling corner of Somerset.
I’m quite sad to be home which is very unlike me, maybe the thought of the laundry to be done. I’m also sad at the discomfort creeping into this thread, please no more.
Safe travels ash. I totally understand your reluctance to experience the drive alone. Hope the letter does the trick grandmattie, the day is a good one for you and Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning, cool bright and breezy today in s somerset
I need to find some empty storage boxes in the house and garage. I still have not sorted all the things I need for a new `diversion`
A walk and gooseberry-picking are on my flexible plans for today
Have a good day
Quiet day planned today. Hubby and sons away at a concert be back early afternoon. Had a better nights sleep than anticipated. Few bits to do meeting friend for coffee then early evening food planned. Totally agree marydoll very silly. Hope you all have a lovely day and the weather is good to you.
Good morning from a cool NE, heating is on again.
I think Bonnybanko must have been hacked, it does not sound at all like her. I have never seen her post anything like this before.
Today my sister and BIL are bringing me Geranium plants and will plant them in my patio pots.
DS and GD2 are visiting too, she brightens my day.
GD1 has a job trial at a boutique hotel today, she feels she should get some work experience before going to university.
Have a good weekend.
Bonnybanko, I can understand that you enjoyed opening up your own thread early in the morning.
Please don’t expect Mick to search the forum to see if he’s been beaten to it.
As others have said I look for Mick’s thread and enjoy it, just as I do Soop’s thread in the evening.
Why not think of a new name and start tour own morning thread?
Good Morning Mick and everyone on this lovely thread, I’ve been late getting to you all recently, so late that it was ‘too late’.
Anyway, home from Cornwall where MzOops is furnishing her home ready to rent it out to friends so that she can go travelling for a year, using here as her base.
It’s been sunny today but with a cold wind, let’s hope the wind drops, I have at least been to the garden centre and bought some plants to pot up later today.
This morning off to see a house that MissOops likes, fingers crossed it’s as nice inside as the photos show.
Enjoy your Saturday everyone, hugs for those who aren’t so chipper today.
Bonnybanko
Yes I did Marg75 and what’s your problem p? Does everyone not have the right to post first or is it the only chosen few? 😱
It’s not anything to do with rights though is it, but courtesy and thinking of the feelings of our friends on the Good Morning thread.
Of course anybody can start any thread they like but Mick initiated this thread years ago and it’s become an accepted tradition, something we look out for to start the day
And I hope it is nothing to get worked up or ruffle feathers about.
Good morning from Colchester where it's clouding over. 18° with sunshine and showers. The pollen count is very high and antihistamine isn't much help.
DH has taken up a freelance youth work job and is away doing that today. DS and I will have a quiet weekend with pizza on the menu.
Love to all 🦩 x

This is Mick’s thread Bonnybanko, just as Soop’s kitchen is hers. No one would dream of butting in on there either.
By all means start your own but not on here.
I hope your DGD is better soon brook
Good morning Mick and all from a sunny W Kent. Interesting afternoon yesterday as I had to collect some batteries for my hearing aids and got invited to attend the social get together that the charity who provide the batteries had arranged. Chatted away to 9 people I didn’t know but actually gathered some useful information about heating check ups and T loops.
Today will pop into town and check out a new shop in the market.
Best wishes to all
Brook oh no! I'm hoping it stays sunny albeit cool here.
Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but should stay dry.
Not that I'm bothered about the weather here, as long as it's fine in Twickenham! Which it should be as I've just looked at the forecast.
Yes it's the big day, the rugby cup final and I shall be there and wearing the black. green and gold! Come on you Saints!
Yesterday enjoyed coffee with two friends in Sainsbury's cafe, then did my top-up shop and was home early afternoon. Found my neighbour repairing my gutter on the garage which I was very grateful for; it had been loose since before DH died over six years ago..... Caught up on my reading after that.
Keeping everything crossed this afternoon!
Good morning all and it’s a lovely start to the day, here by the sea.
Yesterday we took an old wooden bed apart and will take it to the tip today. We need to order a new one before the GC arrive during the summer holidays.
Dh has worked so hard this week (with my help and support, I might add 😉) . At ‘home’ he barely gets up from his chair. 🙄
He has more purpose here and we have to get on and do!
Today a couple of trips to the tip and we await the garage man to come and fix the situpon mower ……AGAIN! . He was meant to come yesterday but a ‘no show.’.
Safe journeys Ash. Have a lovely time in France. 🇫🇷.
Tomorow we’re off back to Essex. We’ve had a lovely , but very industrious week but we need to see how things are faring in the real world. I will miss the sea and our easy way of life here. Still, we’ll be back in a few weeks 🙏
Lots of lovely outings for you today, so enjoy yourselves.🌸
