Good Morning Sunday 9th June 2024

Well done mick how time flies. Hubby and sons returned late afternoon yesterday after their adventure in Manchester. Late supper then bed as hubby was exhausted. I too had risen early yesterday with house empty so quiet! We have a new M&S to visit today so that’s good waited years for one to open near us. Have a good day all and fingers crossed our June weather improves.

A slow start today, a fry up late morning and roast chicken for dinner. There is a charity fashion show this afternoon in our little village library which I am looking forward to - but what to wear?

Good morning from a very bright and sunny Suffolk. Yesterday was a lovely day visiting the Spanish galleon ‘ Andalusia’ marred only by very heavy rain as we queued to go onboard.

It is an amazing project crewed mainly by young Spanish volunteers and an exact replica complete with 10 cannons that sailed the seas in the 17th and 18th centuries.

I think I’m going to spend some time today letter writing,a pastime rarely undertaken. A lovely niece of ours who is undertaking a psychotherapy course a few years after her degree and teaching English in a prison suggested we became penpals after I asked her about her course,she wrote and told me and asked me about my professional working life.

We both find it exciting to get a long handwritten letter in the post,a rare event in this household. Hers are offer written on pages from her notepad in a local wine bar after what sounds like an exhausting day working in a clinic for clients with dependency problems. I love to hear about her doings and her travel and future plans with her partner.

DH and little dog both still sleep so another cuppa calls before the day really begins. Hope it is a positive one for all.

Good morning from an overcast start to the day in Rugeley, Staffs.

Our journey here went well and I’m pleased to say that I drove the whole way, which is the longest trip I’ve managed in a few years!

Our hearts sank to see two minibuses of FE students checking in as we arrived but we needn’t have worried. They were politeness itself and we haven’t heard a sound all night! They had spent the day at Alton Towers so no doubt they were tired!

After a delicious Nepalese meal, we met up with my DS and his lovely GF. This afternoon we shall watch my DGS3 (aged 8) in Annie (junior version) I am looking forward to showing DH the lovely theatre in which I performed in many a musical and pantomime before we met.

Good morning from Malta where another hot day is forecast. 33°C (real feel 36°C 🥵). It’s starting to be , in the words of Ella Fitzgerald, ‘Too darned hot’!

Yesterday was spent mostly indoors but I walked to DD3’s at around 6.30pm and there was plenty of shade even though it was still very warm.

The boys were as good as gold when their parents went off to celebrate their anniversary with a meal out. They went to bed with no trouble and I watched a programme about Paul O’Grady.

Today I will be off to Mass at 11.30, the church has a/c which is a relief, then home for my weekly chat with my friend in Leicester, after which the Men’s Final at Roland Garros. It will be one to get the adrenaline going!

Glad to hear you have reached the one year milestone with such positive signs of improvement Mick. Long may your good health continue.

You all seem so very busy, I do enjoy reading your posts even though I feel very idle by comparison! I no longer have a garden so love to hear about yours.

Good morning and it’s a sunny but chilly start to the day.
I sat out on our bank having a cuppa , and relishing our last day here in Suffolk. The sea is calm and sparkling.
I hate to leave !

We’ll have a tidy round and pack up - walk little pooch on the beach - no rush but mindful of the traffic and arrive back ‘home’ by mid afternoon.,

As we sat in the summerhouse having lunch yesterday, the swallows were crazily diving around looking for a good nesting site. One flew in and little pooch jumped up trying to catch it, barking and leaping around, tea was spilt and chaos reigned for a few minutes until he flew out again. 🤣. I love to see them but we don’t really want them indoors.

Good morning from Durham. Another cool, grey, breezy day forecast - a bit of sun would be nice. It was quite cold when I took Little Dog out last night.
DD2 and family fly to Majorca later - I admire their determination with a just 3 year old, push chair, wheelchair, luggage, etc
I’m going to watch DGS1 swim this morning, then home to do a bit of housework, admin and a dog walk later.

Good morning everyone from the Scottish Borders. Sunny so far.
The garden party went well although I was ready to flop by the end.
The garden was admired, the sun shone and there was plenty of food and drink.
It could have been warmer but no midges!
I showed a couple of people around the house but there were no offers to buy!
Today I am heading to Potfest in Perth.

Good morning from a cloudy Cornwall. Yesterday I visited my favourite charity shop looking for sewing projects and found three 50p Per Una items which I'll start repurposing today. All are in pristine condition, one being a pair of white denim jeans which I'll enjoy dyeing. The photo is one grandson keeping another grandson, his cousin, safe.

Yesterday was a busy domestic day. I went to Aldi, then got on with housework. I even cleaned the windows (badly). I have a large pot of pulled gammon that I did in the slow cooker. It'll do me today and tomorrow with plenty for the freezer.
Today I'm having a quiet day. I'll make lentil soup in the slow cooker -such a handy invention! I have to top up the bird bath. My newly acquired solar fountain keeps shooting water over the side and I'll have to adjust it to see if it helps. Later I'll visit mum. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a glorious sunny South Downs. I’ve been a bit tardy posting on here recently, but I have tried to read everyone’s posts.

Today I finish the final push to clearing the garden! It has taken since March! But I am pleased with the result and now there is a sense of calm in the garden. In the little Japanese gravel garden, I have the smallest thyme surrounding a rock (moss doesn’t work in my dry area) and it is flowering at the moment -a deep cerise - yesterday it was absolutely alive with bees. I love raking the gravel into patterns - it gets hypnotic.

All the years new life is growing apace, and the fledglings are independent, but still hanging out together, and of course the cubs will be with mum and dad for a while yet - until the autumn.

I am starting to cut back on my calories today, as since my gall bladder operation I’ve gradually put on weight - simply because I can now eat everything - and I do! As a family we’ve never been small - but I need to address this now.

Yesterday I had rather a strenuous afternoon and am feeling it this morning. DD and the menfolk are coming over later for a roast dinner, when I expect I shall hear much about GS’s recently acquired passion for golf. Well there are worse things that can occupy his time I suppose!

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it feels a little cool just now.

After a windy, rainy, start to yesterday the rain stopped in time for the gala parade. The floats and bands were a joyful sight as they made their way through the town, a good day.

I’ll be at DD’s house this afternoon for a bracelet making session with the girls. Apparently it’s a ‘thing’ to wear handmade bead bracelets at the Swiftie concerts and this is the only day we all have free to do it although they aren’t going for another two weeks.

Good morning from sunny south Glos, not a cloud to be seen.
Gosh, I can’t believe that it’s a year Mick, so good to hear you’re doing well.
I’m hoping there aren’t any more glitches with getting them to remove the summerhouse Pantglas2, I will be so glad when it’s gone.
Yesterday I attacked a small border that’s become completely overgrown by purple toadflax, phlox, violets (that never flower much) and willow herb, I yanked armfuls out along with dozens of slugs and snails 🐌🤢. I got very hot and dirty.
The roses were completely swamped and the soil is like dust.
Today I will dig it over, feed and water the roses and hopefully they’ll be fine.
I will also put us some wires to train the climbing roses.
My roses are looking lovely this year, it’s probably all the rain!

Good morning my friends it’s turning a little colder here on the east coast of Fife -(more ways than one). I’ve a busy day ahead with the hairdresser, the chiropodist and 3 friends visiting, I’ll try to get on with the raspberry jam making, it’s really so easy and most delicious.

Goodness, I’m “late”. I’m normally awake a good two hours +, waiting for Mick to open up! Don’t know what caused that as I did nothing different yesterday.
The Cherry and almond tea loaf went down well, and the chat was pretty popular.
I carried on with finishing my quilt; it’ll probably be done by early next week.
This afternoon after church, one of my church friends is taking me on a local art trail in the area. It is very kind of her. I haven’t been on one here, I suspect it’ll be the usual mixture of good, bad and weird/impenetrable!

Good morning from cool s somerset, it is going to be a beautiful sunny day

I am loving to read about the good progress that Mick is making, good and steady in just a year

Yesterday was busy but not frantic. I only have one more picking of gooseberries and will then leave the remaining small ones to grow and get ripe for the insects that visit my garden. My kefir grains have sprung back into life after being frozen for quite a long time so I have now made a litre and will make a secondary fermentation from that this evening

House is tidy enough too, I did a bit more sorting yesterday. This pottering malarky certainly keeps me on top of having a nice home

Today it definitely needs to be a cycle ride and I am going to take my road bike out by 9. Later I need to finish a sleeveless cycling over top, before my mojo vanishes from the sewing room
