How many phone numbers do you know without looking at your phone?

Only mine and it's taken years for that to sink in!

It's made me think though and I may write a few down to keep in the car and/or house

MrJ’s mobile, no one I know has a land line now.

Just the one, I'm afraid, and that's mine.

Only my own mobile, simply because it's requested again and again with orders on line etc. I don't even know our land line, I did, we had the same one for ages it went with us when we moved within that area, then when we moved away out of London, well I have no idea, not even the area code, shocking! My excuse, I have too many pin numbers and passwords I'm carrying around in my head which has now reached overload.

Only my own. It occurred to me a few years ago that I would be in trouble if I lost my phone and couldn't contact anyone. I printed off a list of family numbers and have one in my purse and car and on the kitchen noticeboard. You have reminded me to check that the list is still there. I hope that you are OK after your accident Cambsnan.

I still remember the first landline number we had, 65 years ago. I remember my parents land line but mobile numbers, only my own

And my stepfather’s landline. Our landline of course too. Oh and the landline of my uncle in Oldham. So not much really.

Cambsnan, I hope that you are recovered from your experience. Thank you for alerting me to this. The only number I know is mine, which wouldn't be very useful in those circumstances. I shall make a paper copy of important numbers.

My own and that’s it all my numbers are in my phone. I do have my daughters numbers on a card in the car.

Short answer- very few. But they do include my “home” growing up and then my parents’ landline- 20261!

When we had to dial numbers I used to remember family landline numbers.
I can only remember one mobile number and that is my own, DH taught me how to remember it.

Only one. But if you do leave your bag on the passenger seat, lock the door. It’s a given for opportunist thieves.

How true! I once had my bag snatched off the passenger seat while waiting in the rain and the dark, to turn left on to a busy main road.
Talk about a lesson in using your central locking! - which I did have at the time.

I hope the accident wasn't too serious and everyone has recovered.

A few thoughts occur:

One- why didn't they go and retrieve the phone? Ot maybe it couldn't be seen. Did you get it back?

Two- mobile numbers are too long for me to commit to memory. We remembered the analogue numbers better because we had to dial or press them, so this made the numbers more familiar in our heads.

Three- we store our numbers for convenience so we can connect more quickly, which is very useful in an emergency and stops misdialling.

Four- maybe I should try to remember at least one number so that person can then contact others.

Five- there's no point keeping it in a bag where you keep your phone, if the bag goes flying then so will your number.

Six- I think storing the numbers in the glove box maybe a better idea or even stick one on the dashboard.

Seven- thankyou for drawing my attention to this- it could be a life-saver!

My own and my husband’s. Seeing as how there are only 2 digits that are different! Mostly I just press names and the phone does the rest so I don’t actually look at numbers.

None, to be honest. I’ve only recently managed to memorise my own mobile number. I keep a written note of my children’s numbers in my phone case, and in my handbag. I can remember several family landline numbers, but all but one of them are no longer functioning. The one that is functioning is mine!

I only know my own mobile number and thought I was doing well having my AC’s numbers saved under In Case of Emergency on my phone.

I used to have their numbers on a slip of paper in my phone wallet before learning of the ICE facility which allows access to to these numbers without the phone PIN code. Your post has made me think I might need to reconsider my set up Cambsnan.

Just 3 although only 2 now - that’s both DD’s mobiles. I still know DH’s off by heart.
He and I have the same numbers since the ‘80s. DDs have had theirs since the mid ‘90s.
I have all the saved numbers on my phone written down too, in case of a total loss.

My partners mobile...my mums landline...thats it

I know both my AC landline numbers but not their mobile number. OH recently changed his mobile number and I cannot remember that one either.........I guess the moral to the story is to keep bags closed when driving or have a written note of emergency contact numbers.

Only my husbands but that can sometimes evade me but I do know our office landline number which diverts to my husbands phone anyway
