Things You Can't Do No Matter How Much You Try!

1-No matter how many times I've tried it over the years I just can't cut pizza!

Whether the pizza base is hard or soft I can't cut them with a knife of any sort and I can't use actual pizza cutters either! Burning my fingers on a bit of hot pizza crust trying to hold it while hacking away at the pizza and bits come flying off all over the place! In public eateries I have the embarrassment of getting my hubby to cut it for me! Thankfully he's a gentleman and I never have to ask him, he just does it!

At home I use scissors! Ahhh, so much easier and quicker! Slice away! Slice away!

2-I can't use manual tin openers! Partly as I'm left-handed and most are for ''righties'' and partly because I just ... can't... anyway so out comes my trusted electric opener! I bought it second-hand for £5.00 from a German market stall in Birmingham City Centre almost 30 years ago and while it's now old and rusted and I can't clean it properly, it still works like new!

3- And don't get me started on paint rollers, the sort with one handle on one side! In my left or right hand I find them impossible!

Wish I could swim, was doing very well learning, unfortunately whilst living in Germany, a lady swam towards me, oblivious in her Madonna boob costume, knocked into me and sent me under. Really put me off for life. Glad to say all family can swim.

Pizza cutting is tricky - I hold pizza in place with a fork and use a pizza cutter - works for me!

I can’t sing and could never do a cartwheel , handstand yes but not a cartwheel. I also can’t knit despite my mum teaching me . Maths I’m fine with the basics but algebra , another language! .
I have poor eye to ball coordination, so I’m rubbish at tennis , golf , pool . I played netball for my school but that’s a big ball 🙄.
I’m a strong swimmer , my dad taught me at aged 3 on holiday at Butlins .
Navigation, I’m better than my DH who’s got lazy with satnavs .
I was rubbish at parallel parking until
I lived in London and I had to get good at it .
I also can’t whistle and I can’t use eyeliner properly, I have tried and have tried lots of types but the line ends up too thick .

I can’t sit on the floor, legs crossed then stand up without using my hands. The children think it’s great fun, but I want to tell them “use it or lose it”.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been able to do that! Getting down on the floor & getting up again is a major effort these days!

Click my fingers! Just can’t do it.

Thank goodness there’s someone else out there! I thought I was the only one who can’t. I did actually manage 1 feeble click but that was probably 40 years ago & it never happened again.

I can't dig put the roots of plants. Take rosemary. Until this year I hadn't noticed that the roots had turned in to massive 'ropes' wandering everywhere. I used small seceteurs, medium sized loppers (broke those) and a new stronger pair. I've made some progress, but I can't get the roots out. Digging deep with a spade is more or less beyond me now.

I used to use a ladder to climb up to a high ceiling to replace bulbs. No longer! I'm getting too wobbly.

Long division. Fortunately I've never needed to, not since school anyway.

I can’t back into a parking spot. I drive around until I find a slot. The only time I did it was more than 50 years ago when I took my driving test. I hasten to say I have never had an accident !

Me too! The problem is how do you get to practice without the risk of damaging yours or someone else’s car!

Ditto!
My random business idea was to buy a huge parking lot and fill it with life sized vehicles made of foam leaving parking spaces between them.
The foam would be the dense, heavy memory type foam that could stand up to a few knocks.

I obviously need to get out more! grin

I have short legs and have never been able to get on my bike by swinging my leg over the saddle. I wish I could.

If I ever need to stop, I balance as long as possible then jump off the saddle. It is what I have done the whole of my life

Sing !
Every singer I know tells me " everyone can sing ".....till they hear me !!
It's familial.
My Dad , brother , son and nephews are all awful too.
So sad because I do love to " sing " .
Perhaps in heaven??

I can’t make sponge cakes or meringues. I taught my OH how to make both and his are wonderful. I still don’t understand how, as he is following my instructions, his are great and mine are rubbish.

Open those metal loops on the top of cans

creativeness Wed 12-Jun-24 18:28:17

No I don’t like ring pull cans either awful things to open !

Kamj Wed 12-Jun-24 20:20:16

Cossy

I’m right handed (my mother would describe me as “cack-handed). I cannot paint without splashing paint everywhere with a brush or roller, I cannot hang wallpaper and I don’t appear to be able to cut anything in a straight line!

I thought left handed was 'cack handed' which I am, and was often called this

Nan0 Wed 12-Jun-24 20:27:32

I can't knit...

DamaskRose Wed 12-Jun-24 21:01:16

Tell right from left without writing (or failing to write) the first letter of my name.
Turn left (it took me a while to work this out, see above!) into my drive.
Can only park straight between two parked cars.

God hears your voice the same as Kiri Te Kanawa Mirren, even though you’re not in heaven. Yet. 😊

I've literally spent thousands of pounds on swimming lessons and still cannot swim. Fear of water is too great.
I can't whistle either
I can't make edible pastry - i can make pastry that is like concrete. My mom could make pastry but did not pass that gift on to me. I can make cakes though

Dempie55 Wed 12-Jun-24 21:21:41

Can’t use an electric sewing machine. I would love to make my own clothes and soft furnishings, but, ever since I was 14 in Home Economics, every time I touch a sewing machine, I bu$$er it up and jam something or other.

There are many things I can't do, some of which I used to be able to do but I was diagnosed with MS 30 years ago, and I've lost my ability to do lots of things.
I used to have a lovely singing voice (was always in choirs and sang in public), but had thyroid surgery 26yrs ago and my vocal cords were damaged, so try as I might, I still sing at home and in the car, but would never dare to try in front of anyone else these days.

Grammaretto Thu 13-Jun-24 05:45:19

Ordinary girl I can't help with your fear of water, sorry, but if you can't make pastry it could mean that you have warm hands. Try making bread instead.
My DMiL who was a fabulous pastry cook said she had cool hands and could never be a baker which requires warmth for kneading.

Lots I can’t do but I concentrate on what I can, Ive always wanted to draw recognisable things or to have a nice singing voice and every now and then I try. I can however reverse into car spaces, my father taught me a little trick and it’s so easy, but admit if it didn’t work it would be an expensive mistake,

Cabbie21 Thu 13-Jun-24 14:01:21

I can’t do lots of practical things, increasingly because I have no grip. I do have some gadgets eg to help with ring pulls.

Today’s Failure is to put the batteries back in the lawnmower.

Get a couple of safety cones and head to an empty parking lot.
